Features:
Installation: The cable lock is installed by first taking off the plastic end cap on the bar of the bike rack-either upright bar w/hooks (a30901/a30902) or arm of a dual arm carrier (a30403/a30404). Punch out the holes on the cap and then reinstall. Next slide the cable lock in though the end of the bar (as pictured above), starting with the end opposite the lock. Once the cable is a few inches into the bar of the bike rack, insert the black (or silver) pin through the 2 side holes. The bar is used to keep the cable from coming back out and also as an attachment point for the lock. The included clip is used to hold the pin in place.

This rack is rated to carry 4 bikes and the hitch pin is compatible with this bike rack. As you can see in the photos, the color of the outer shell is different from the inner metal of the nut, which I perceive as the nut is not made of the same metal all throughout. Not sure why.
The cable lock is NOT compatible with this rack and eTrailer should correct the answer registered on this site regarding this, which I had asked before purchasing this.
Etrailer shipping was as always fast but unfortunately this product is seriously bad and is risky to use. Luckily my bike rack did not fall off the hitch and did not go flying on to other cars. I had to go to a local hardware store and buy a 3.5 inch length 1/2 nut and bolt, which worked just fine while returning.
Install was easy though instructions were adequate at best. Lock that holds bike rack to receiver is good daytime deterrent but make sure the lock in snapped in all the way by making sure the bolt in tightened in all the way. Original lock fell off. The bike cable lock is fine for daytime parking at a lot but would not depend on it to deter thieves with a bolt cutter at 3 am. I would use in in combination with a stronger lock then. Delivery was fast and product arrived as described. Blister pack was a pain to open of course.
The hitch lock was great (therefore giving the highest review). However, note the cable lock is specific to certain bike racks. This isn't just because the rack must have a hollow portion through which the cable must go. It's because furthermore, there must be a place to put in the pin which holds the end of the cable in place. If you don't have a compatbile SportRack bike rack, you're better off just getting the hitch lock (locks rack to hitch), and _separately_ getting a generic cable/lock (locks bikes to rack).
I purchased this product to add a second lock to a 4 bike SportRack I had previously purchased from etrailer.
I swaped out the original antisway trailer hitch and added the additional lock to the back bar for the other two bikes. I still have to carry two keys because the original locks for the hitch and bike locks werent the same. It would have been more useful if the cable would have been longer to secure all four bikes on this rack instead of a cable just long enough to cover two bikes.
Over all the product is well made and was easy to install and use.
The hitch lock is great but the bolt is bigger than the one that originally came with the rack so you'll need a bigger wrench to install. I used 20mm in lieu of 19mm. The bike lock cable is not the greatest but for quick stops, the lock works fine. I wouldn't leave my bike on the rack and go shopping - too easy to cut the cable. Far price for both pieces plus it's nice to have 1 key that works on both locks.
Ordered Sat 6/15 at 3:PM arrived Thu 6/20 at 10:30AM excellent time for standard shipping. I mis-typed my zipcode and didn't catch error till next day, called etrailer and Nichole took care of it right away and kept in touch till it arrived, great customer service. Very pleased with this product, works great have SportRack 2 bike 2EZ Hitch Platform Bicycle Carrier Model 30901. When putting the e-clip on it sprung off and couldn't find it, went to Ace Hardware and purchased 2 clips ( 2 grooves in pin) works perfect. Will definitely purchase from etrailer again.
I bought this for our SportRack Hitch rack SR2901. The hitch pin is about 1/16" to 1/8" too short for the lock to properly lock on. You have to tap the lock to make it lock on and then you are not really sure if it locked or not. I am concerned that it will fall off going down the road.
The second lock for the bike cable is also defective. The lock will not turn at all if the key is inserted all the way as it should be. If you keep pulling and jiggling and slowly removing the key at the same time, it will finally turn and release the lock. It is as if the key is not cut right for the lock. However, the keys work correctly for the other lock and they are supposed to be keyed alike.
I think this product is junk.
both parts broke I like the idea of the product but when I checked the lock that locks the bikes to the hitch, I questioned the small amount of resistance between the bolt and the sides of the tubing, I pull on the cable with some force but not a lot and the aluminum clasp pulled right off, allowing the cable to pull right through. If a dirt bag wants to steal your bikes it is a good visiual deterant but if they pull on the cable hard enough, chances are it might pull through.
I installed the lock that mounts the rack to the car, great idea, very easy to use alas three days after mounting it on my wifes car, the bolt head sheared right off. Did I tighten it too much, don't think so, the point is you tighten it to help fight rattle issues. I think the problem lies with low quality bolts, they need a grade three minumum, grade eight would be better. So as much as I'd like to say great idea and simple to use, both locks failed badly.
Higher quality parts, and they would have a clean, fast way to help secure the bikes and hitch. If you want a visually secure lock set this may work for you, just don't tighten the bolt that much and don't pull on the cable to check its worth, chances are you might accidentally hit yourself in the face when it breaks free.
Etrailer was great about returning the product and sending a new one, problem is once it gets here, will I test the quality or just send it back?

Not bad, I would reccomend itThis lock provides a decent first line of defense. As the cable will reach around the bike frames but cannot reach through all the wheels I recommend using it together with a good cable style bike lock laced through all your bike's wheels - especially if they are equipped with quick release hubs. The lock mechanisms used for both the cable and locking hitch pin are identical seem solid. With my 1 1/4" receiver I found I needed to install the lock on the bolt before fully tightening it but this works fine. A 2" receiver should provide enough additional clearance to make this unnecessary.
So far it seems like a decent product. I gave it 3 stars for the following reasons.
1- The cable is only 37" long and barely gets around both bike frames and still locks. It really needs another couple of inches longer. One of the bikes is a woman's bike so the frame bar sits lower.
2- Only one of the keys unlock the locks so I've got to go get a second key made.
This product is very helpful and easy to install. In general, I have found etrailer to be a very reputable company and I enjoy doing business with them. I had ordered a trailer hitch and 'sportsrack' bike rack from them and when I found a better price at another company they immediately refunded the difference when I brought it to their attention. I will continue doing business with etrailer.com, they have great service and are a pleasure to do business with.

I tried a lock that didn't have a threaded bolt and the rack swayed too much. This lock is perfect and I am a lot less worried about leaving my bike on the hitch. Again - etrailer had exactly what I needed.
Nice addition to the rackReally like the idea of locking my bike AND rack to the hitch. I'm using this as a back up in case the rack should fail while driving, and in case I need to stop somewhere temporarily. I don't expect this to be completely theft proof, but what really is?

While I appreciate great customer service, the hitch combo lock did not work for me. It was stiff and hard in spite of lubrication. It's definitely a return.
I used this kit to modify an existing bike carrier. It worked perfectly and kept me from having to buy a new carrier with lock built in. Thanks so much.
It's a must haveThis complements the SportsRack and it is a must. With the cable in place you don't have to worry about the bikes falling off due to anything. It is not only to avoid getting your bikes stolen but also to make sure the bikes don't fall off and kill somebody.
Cable is too short for 2 bikesI do not like this lock kit because the cable to lock the bikes is so short it will not secure the two bikes that I am using.
Have not put this to use yet but I have operated the locks and there are no defects in workmanship. I love that both locks are keyed alike.
Silent securityEliminates receiver hitch rattles and secures bicycles as advertised. Works great!
No joy ridersSomeone would have to be setup with tools to take your bike...Peace of mind when bike is not in site...no joy riders will ride off on your bike.
