Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood Hearse with 38 Inch Frame
Question:
Hi! I need your help finding the correct receiver assembly/kit for a 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood Hearse. Im attaching pics beneath the vehicle can you please guide me? Approx distance to hole to hole underneath is 38” and 16” from the underneath to the outside of the car. I can buy an extender if needed for the tongue. I’d like it to be a higher class hitch, 2” opening. Thank you,

While a custom fit hitch for your 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood Hearse is not an option, the Multi-Fit Trailer Hitch # 5350 may work for you.
The hitch is adjustable to fit vehicle frames from 24 to 46 inches wide, has a capacity of 5,000 lbs and features the 2 inch receiver you wanted. It requires no welding and all hardware to install it is included.
Since your frame is recessed a good 16 inches behind the vehicle's fascia, your best option is to go with an extra long ball mount like # EA40 which measures 14-5/8 inches from center of hitch pin hole to center of ball hole. You will need to determine the drop/rise that works for you. To complete your towing set-up, the # C84VV hardwire kit you were looking at is a good choice. You can use Tow Ready Interchangeable Hitch Ball Set # 63803 with 1-7/8, 2 and 2-5/16 inch hitch balls.
If you are planning to carry a non-trailer load and you absolutely have to use a hitch adapter, the # HE18 will provide you with an additional 18 inches of clearance. However, using a hitch extension will reduce your hitch's overall capacity by 50 percent.
