Video Transcript for Demco 5th Wheel Lifting Bracket Review

Speaker 1: Today we'll be having a look at the Demco 5th Wheel Lifting Bracket. Part Number DM6100. Many of our customers here at etrailer have come to us and have expressed that they've had experienced difficulty in the past when it comes time to remove the 5th wheel assembly from the bed of their truck when they want to have full access to it when they're not towing their trailer. Many have also said that it takes two to three people sometimes to remove a 5th wheel assembly, especially when they have a slider, such as this one, because the slider assembly adds a lot of weight. When you want to make it a one man operation, that's where this Demco Lifting Bracket comes into place. As you will notice it looks like a kingpin. That serves a purpose of sliding into the jaws of our 5th wheel giving us a solid attachment point.

To utilize it we'll simply open our jaws of our 5th wheel. With the jaws open we can insert our lifting device. Making sure we watch our fingers. Enclose the jaws around it. With our lifting adapter now in place we now have an eyelet here to attach a cable or chain to a engine hoist, a standard hoist on a ceiling, a crane, a wench, something of that nature.

Any lifting device that you have where you can attach a cable to properly. We can use that to lift this out of the bed of our truck. Now this lifting device is made of a sturdy steel construction and has a lifting capacity of 500 lbs., which is minimally sufficient to handle most every 5th wheel regardless if you had a slider or not. For a few dimensions for you, you're looking at 5-3/4" tall, from the very base of it to the very top of it. Diameter here is 2", just like your standard kingpin. The base is 3" wide.

The eyelet opening has a diameter of 1-1/8". That completes our look at the Demco 5th Wheel Lifting Bracket. Part Number DM6100.

Lift your 5th-wheel hitch from your truck bed with a hoist. Just install this lifting bracket into the jaws of your hitch and attach a cable to the eye.

Works great. Able to lift my hitch out of the truck and then lower to a dolly to move out of the way. Also great for putting the hitch back in the truck.

Works great. I have a lift in my garage and I use the bracket when removing g and installing my 5th wheel hitch on my truck. I lower it on to a dolley and then roll it out of the way. So easy to use, I remove it after every camping trip.

A year later and I cannot say enough positive things about this lifting bracket. Used frequently and no signs of wear. Still highly recommend this product.

by:

Only using this twice a year it’s hard to judge long term but it’s solid,it’s simple and it works fine.Just the ticket to easily remove fifth wheel from truck bed.

Follow up on demco 6100 lift bracket. Has been a little over a year and bracket working out great. 2017 ram 3500 truck, curt a16 fifth wheel hitch, pullrite bed adapter all inclusive abt 300lbs. I am 66 years old and cant lift what I used to be able to. Sure I can remove in pieces and do it without lift and bracket but is a lot of weight for me.Bracket and lift make it possible to remove in 1 piece with way less wear and tear on me.BIg plus is I can do it by myself.I lift to bed of truck on to 2x4s then remove bracket from hitch from there can push into position and in puck system.bracket works great.

by:

This does the job. I'm thinking about welding a handle under the eye to facilitate easier mounting to the fifth wheel.

by:

Worked perfectly in my companion 5th wheel hitch.

Todd

8/4/2022

Still working great. Strong and sturdy hoist. Can always count on it.

by:

Welded extremely strong and also powder coated. It would take forever to make one of the same quality. A little bit on the pricey side but worth it. I can easily lift my fifth wheel hitch in/out of the truck by myself with a winch.

Marvin G.

Excellent tool for lifting the hitch.

by:

The Demco 5th Wheel Lifting Bracket - DM6100 works great with my over head winch for lifting my Demco 5th wheel hitch from the bed of my truck. Just clip into 5th wheel, make sure 5th wheel is latched. Then raise winch and drive out from under hitch. I then lower onto a cart to move. one person job now! No strained mussels any more!

by:

Great product, great service from etrailer!

Excellent solution for effortlessly lifting our fifth wheel hitch from the bed of the truck. I installed a hoist on the garage ceiling to do the lifting and rather than struggle with straps around the hitch to hook to the hoist, this bracket easily slides into the hitch and provides a no brainer way to raise it up. What ever method you use to lift your hitch (cherry picker, engine hoist, winch, ceiling hoist, pallet forks on a tractor, etc) this bracket simplifies the process. No chains, straps or ropes. Slide it in place, hook it up, and go.

AND, the item arrived 2 days earlier than originally projected!

by:

I was pleased to find this helpful tool. When lifting my fifth-wheel hitch out of my truck bed I used a rope that I tied around the hitch in order to lift it with my engine-block crane. It wasn't very satisfactory because the hitch lifted out at a bad angle due to the locations I chose in order to run the rope around the hitch, and my knots could have slipped. There had to be a better way. There were no suspension connection points installed on the B&W Companion Hitch, to assist me, so I sought another solution. This fitting does the job perfectly.

by:

I have a Demco Autoslider for my 40' fifth wheel and F-350 6 3/4' box. It is a great hitch, but weighs a lot and installing and removing the hitch is not easy given the weight. I had previously used straps, however getting the hitch centered on my chain hoist took some work. The Demco lifting bracket makes that task much easier.

by:

Works great. Lock in, hook up, pick up, Done. My Demco 21K Autoslide hitch is about 300Lbs of pure greatness but tough to manhandle by myself. This makes it easy, along with my chain hoist of course.

by:

Great tool for removing the Curt 20k 5th wheel hitch. I bought a hoist from Harbor Freight and installed it in my garage. I also made a coaster for the hitch so that I can wheel it around. Now all I do is insert the 5th Wheel Lifting Bracket into the mouth of the hitch, close it and I'm done. No more strain but a lot of gain.

A little expensive but worth it and they need to add this product to "5th wheel hitch accessories" to make it easier to find

by:

Works great, I use with a manual chain hoist in my garage and lift the entire hitch off and on the truck and leave it hanging when not using the hitch.

Glenn

4/24/2023

Still works great. So much easier and safer than my former system of steel cables hooked onto the manual chain hoist.

by:

The bracket works perfectly! I use it to lift the hitch out of my truck bed.

Marc M.

11/25/2021

Still going strong! Makes lifting the Pullrite in and out of my truckbed much easier! Have always had success using strainer and their products!

by:

Works really well getting the hitch out of the bed.

by:

Well built out of steel, makes it easy to remove and install using an engine hoist.

by:

It works just like I expected

by:

The lifting eye works great to pull our 380lb hitch out of our pickup.

by:

Perfect for lifting the fifth wheel hitch in and out of my truck.

by:

Works as expected.

by:

Works great

by:

Feel free to use these pictures. Highly recommend. Lifesaver for people who are getting too old to handle these hitched by themselves.

by:

Perfect for lifting the beast out of the truck! Watch your fingers.

Thomas

It works quite well. However, I have gotten lazy and do not take the hitch out of the truck unless forced to!

  • Can I Use Demco 5th Wheel Lifting Bracket With PullRite SuperGlide
The Demco 5th Wheel Lifting Bracket part # DM6100 will work well with your PullRite SuperGlide. The capture plate is on the actual pin box of the trailer so it would not affect the use of the Demco lifting bracket. You would just open the jaw of the SuperGlide with the handle and put the lifting bracket in the jaws. Then you can lift the fifth wheel hitch from the truck with a cable.

The best autoslide 5th wheel hitch for your 2022 Short bed Ford F-250 with OEM puck system is the Demco Hijacker AutoSlide, # DM8550038. The parts don't really come apart easily to remove the hitch, so that is not recommended as it is just the side rails that are separate and would save 32 lbs. • Recommendation for Removing Demco 18K Hijacker Auto Slide from Truck Bed
I reached out to my contact at Demco, and they said the 18K Hijacker autoslide # DM8550034 weighs enough that the slider portion could engage in that operation. They do not recommend putting that weight on the hitch and kingpin/pin box. Your best option is to manually move your hitch to the rear of your truck.
