d-ring

Note: Tie-down anchors must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the anchors being used. For example, if you are using anchors with a WLL of 100 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 400 lbs, then you need at least 4 anchors to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use anchors in pairs.

Video Transcript for Curt Tie Down Anchors - Trailer Tie-Down Anchors - J-705 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Curt weld-on trailer D-ring number J-705. This ring, as its name implies, is intended to be welded to the side of your trailer as an anchor point. You would weld this piece here over the ring, and then once you have that you have a sturdy and stable anchor point to tie down any items that you would need to transport via your trailer. Taking a look at some of the measurements; we'll look at the clasp first. It is 2-1/4 inches long. It is 1-5/8 of an inch wide.

Then for the D ring itself it is 4-3/8 inches tall. From the inside here to the inside here it is 2-7/8 inches. Then when you have the clasp the measurement from the inside here to the inside of the clasp is 2-3/8 of an inch. It has a weight capacity, when attached, of 18,000 pounds and a working load limit of 6000 pounds. That should just about do it for our Curt weld-on trailer D-ring number J-705.

These things are beast, just the look i wanted for my off road mini camper im building. Very heavy duty, welding 8 of these on the camper. 2 on every side. Will be great for strapping down canoe and such on rack on top of camper. These are like what you see on flat bed tractor trailers.

Welded these on my off rd mini camper to use for tugging trailer out of mud or rocks. After a year and using them to get trailer unstuck, they have performed flawlessly.

Last project built. Used etrailer for almost all parts, 7 pin wiring harnesses, junction block, tail lights, jacks vent cover, D-ring tie downs and so on. Love the leveling jacks. Friend wants one now so started another one. I will be getting all the parts from etrailer...

by:

Good rugged cargo rings. Stake pockets aren't located in the best place for load binding.

by:

Needed a D Ring for front of Equipment Trailer, 5/8" Weld on 3 ton working load fit the bill.

by:

Just got my tie downs, as promised they arrived when expected! This is why I only deal with etrailer I get exactly what I need when I need it. This order I didn't need any technical assistance the description and pictures were perfect. On past orders all I had to do was ask and they had my answers..boom just like that.
Thanks again (e) for excellent Trailer,

They are exactly what the trailer needed to make it useable. These tie downs will out last the trailer and me!!

I ordered multiple items, Trailer Wheel Covers, Trailer Tie Downs, Trailer Tire Chocks, Trailer Ball Lock and Wench Recovery Kit. Everything was delivered as expected.

The entire team was courteous and very communicative with items which were back ordered. They waived shipping on the back ordered items, while allow me to add to the second shipment.

Thanks for the awesome consumer experience. I will definitely be ordering from you guys soon!!!

Nice heavy duty rings super strong. The ring itself is of one piece welded construction no gap under the hold down. The weld down hold down pieces are heavy and strong. I use my trailer to tow cars and trucks. Secured a 2500 HD Chevy suburban no problem and I don’t have to worry about anything. I will be buying more in the future for all of my trailer tie down needs.

by:

I have never been unhappy with ordering from Etrailer. It has always been exactly what I wanted and shipping was on time every time. This time I am adding tie down anchors to my car trailer for additional support on heavier items. Even if not heavier, better locations for mid trailer loads. You can trust etrailer to follow up on all orders.

by:

I bought these tie downs to weld to my trailer. I haul a 1942 Farmall H tractor to tractor shows and I haul logs on my trailer so I needed good tie downs for this. These had the tie down rating that I was looking for plus I could have them welded to my trailer frame. I haven't used them yet since I just received them this week.

by:

These bullet Proof tie down D- rings fit the bill for something substantial to tie down heavy items such as a Tractor. This is weld-on, but I think bolt on is available.

by:

Welded these on my 20ft car trailer and so far they have held up great. Would trust them tying down anything I want to haul.

by: 04/13/2023

It is as described, nothing fancy but gets the job done

by:

Anchors were welded on backhoe trailer (14K). Working well to secure backhoe and Jeep. These things are def heavy duty.

by:

These rings are beefy, I'm installing 8 on my heavy duty trailer thinking they were under capacity when I ordered them but I was wrong! The rings are plenty thick for securing down heavy equipment or materials.

by:

Exactly as pictured. Building a trailer from ground up...can never have too many
tie-downs, right?! etrailer.com, great to order from, will continue when I have trailer part needs!

by:

Very heavy duty These would be appropriate tie down ring for a semi trailer or heavy equipment. Far heavier than I need but will work with my smaller equipment and lighter loads go bigger for more security!

by:

If you want great customer service and follow up this is the place. Some places once you place the order they forget who you are. Etrailer has made it so that you are informed from the time you place your order until it hits your door. Parts arrived packed well, and complete. to coin an old phrase " I'll be back"

by:

D--Ring - weld- on - tie down anchor <> super heavy duty <> very good price .
II you do not weld <> this is not a item to practice on ! Have a person that knows what they are doing <> always, work smarter, not harder!
Thank you ___

by:

I haven't welded the rings on to my trailer yet but they look good. I'm sure they will be just what I needed.

I misordered, Michelle at eTrailer straightened it out for me, and shipping was fast. Great service.
Thanks

by:

Weld on D-ring, these are good quality I welded them to the deck of my equipment trailer. I would use them again and would also recommend them to anybody else looking for weld on D-rings.

by:

Pay closer attention to the specs on these than I did. They are exactly as they are described... just too big for my application. Excellent for securing heavy equipment but overkill for strapping down an ATV. I'll save them and use them for something else.

by:

Product seems to be of high quality, very happy with the service we were given. Will be calling on you again many Thanks

by:

Good quality steel and the chamfer cut on the claps ensures a solid weld. Etrailer customer service was helpful and prompt in answering my questions regarding if this was galvanized (which it is not) and shipped it fast!

by:

Trailer did not have these when I bought the trailer, which was fine because I saved money putting them on myself.

by:

Hard to find someone to weld these on. Everyone said it's the wrong metal. The iron will become brittle and break. However I did find someone who did weld them with a warning. It took about one month for them to completely rust! But they have not failed yet.

Still rusty, but thats my fault for not painting them. Only surface rust. They are still working great!

  • Available Weight Capacity for Weld-On D-Ring
The Curt D-Ring Tie Down Anchor # J-705 that you referenced is the weld-on D-ring with the lowest weight capacity that we offer. We do not have a weld-on D-ring with a lower weight capacity. For a lower capacity D-ring, the options we offer are bolt-on D-rings. I have attached a link to all of our D-rings for you.

  • Can Curt D-Ring Tie Down Anchor Be Welded to Aluminum Trailer
I have a solution for you, but it is not easy to weld steel to aluminum. The Curt D-Ring Tie Down Anchor # J-705 is made of raw steel. It will not work well to weld on to your aluminum trailer because of the differences in the melting points of these metals. All of our weld-on D-rings are made of steel. A skilled professional welder may be able to weld the # J-705 to your aluminum trailer. Your best option will be to use a bolt-on D-ring, like the Brophy D-ring Tie Down Anchor # LRB1....

  • What is the Curt D-Ring J-705 Made Of
The Curt D-ring, # J-705, is raw steel. It is not zinc plated or galvanized. It is meant to be welded onto another steel surface. Welding zinc or galvanized steel does have challenges and can produce toxic fumes so going with a raw steel component is the way to avoid that.

  • Is there a Specific Size Weld Needed to Install Tie Down # J-705 to Reach the Maximum Capacity
The short answer is as big of a weld as you can get. There isn't a specified weld size for tie down # J-705 but you will have to weld the whole bracket to the surface it will be attached to. Since it has such a high rating it is possible that the tie down itself will have a higher capacity than what it is welded to. So you may have to reinforce the area with additional steel.

  • Safety Chains and Cargo Tie Downs for 6 x 10-Foot Flat Deck Utility Trailer
Thank you for the photo of your utility trailer that appears to already have safety chains installed near the coupler. Safety chains should be selected based on trailer weight and on the length you need. If your trailer has a 3500-lb-rated axle then chains like 60-inch 5K Curt part # C19749 would provide sufficient capacity and their latching hooks will make for easy attachment. If you prefer shorter chains you might prefer the 27-inch 5K # 2118-605-04. For a weld-on bracket you might...

  • Availability of Smaller D-Ring Trailer Tie Down Anchor
The closest D-rings to the dimensions you mentioned is the part # MMP536 which has D-rings that have internal dimensions of 1-3/4" x 1-1/2". The thickness of each D-ring is 1/8 of an inch and these are sold in a set of 4.

  • Construction of and Attachment Method for CR Brophy # LRB1 Tie-Down Ring
The CR Brophy # LRB1 features a zinc plated ring. I suppose the ring could be welded into place, but the only way the 2,750 lb WLL can be maintained is by installing it by bolting it into place, as the manufacturer intended. Installing it in any other manner would have an unknown effect on the weight bearing capacity of the D-Ring Tie Down. If you decide to attempt welding a zinc plated item, be sure to do so in a well-ventilated area, as galvanized or zinc plated items can give off toxic...

  • Availability of D-Ring Trailer Cargo Control Tie Downs
We offer D-ring tie downs like the bolt-on Brophy # SR15-C and the weld-on Curt # J-705 that can be seen on the linked page. For one close to your measurements you might consider the Brophy # LRB1 which is also a bolt-on part whose dimensions are shown in the linked photo.
