Video Transcript for Review of Durabilt Chain Binders - Ratchet Chain Binder - DU35MR

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this durable ratcheting chain binder for 5/16ths to 3/8ths in size chains, has an 8,800 pound working load limit. Now a ratchet chain binder will increase the tension of the chain until it's taught, using a twisting or ratcheting mechanism right here. These ratchet binders are often viewed as a safer option because they do not store as much energy in the handle, so it reduces the risk of recoil and harming the user. And a ratchet binder has the lever and the screw working together, which means it takes less pulling on the handle to apply tension to the binder. So this is perfect for agricultural and industrial tie-down applications.

Just wanted to zoom in here to show you the ratcheting mechanism right here, makes it very easy to tension your equipment. Allows you to safely remove the ratchet binder when you're finished, and there's a lever right in here, And if you push down on it, it allows you to ratchet the other way. And if we push it on this side, that'll guide the ratchet that way. So the lever will change the ratchet rotation. On each end of this one, this uses an alloy forged three eighths inch sized grab hook fitting, and this'll let you quickly connect to your chains, there's one on each end.

the eye hole diameter, or the throat opening is about a half of an inch. Now these bearings do twist or thread, and you can extend them to provide extra reach on both ends when hooking your binder to your equipment. And the screw diameter right here is about one inch. It does offer a continuous take-up feature, provides a finite adjustment. The take up length is about eight inches.

So the distance between the bearings when it's fully close Right now, I'm going to twist them where they're fully closed on each end. So when you're closed, the distance is going to be right at about, from here to here up 24 inches. And if we extend both of these all the way out, from your hook center to center, it'd be about 32 inches. This is a nice steel construction, very durable. You can see it has a nice red paint finish over all the parts, which makes it highly visible.

And this part will meet or exceed the FMC SA 40, the CHP, CVSA, WSTEDA and the Department of Transportation standards. Few specs on this. Again, the application is for chains of either a five sixteenths inch to three eighths inch thick links, safe working load limit on this is 8,800 pounds. The proof load limit is 17,600 pounds. A few measurements on this, if we measure the handle from here to the very end, the tape measures, right at 15 and a half inches or the handle length of barrel length, this part is your barrel. So if we've measured from here to here, right at 10 inches. And the weight of this binder is right at about 12 pointing pounds, just under 13 pounds. And again, you could see it ratchet that way, and if you pushed down on the ratchet, it'll ratchet the other way, very simple to operate. But that should do it for the review on this durable ratcheting chain binder for five sixteenths inch to three eighths inch size chain..
