Medium Duty Trailer Tie Down Lashing Ring

  • Steel with a zinc finish
  • Capacity: 5,000 lbs
  • Safe Working Load Limit: 1,600 lbs
  • Diameter of mounting holes: 7/16" x 7/16"

Note: Tie-down anchors must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the anchors being used. For example, if you are using anchors with a WLL of 100 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 400 lbs, then you need at least 4 anchors to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use anchors in pairs.

Video Transcript for Brophy Trailer D-RIng Tie Down Review SR15-C

Today we will be taking a look at the Brophy trailer bolt-on D-ring tie down, part number SR15-C. The Brophy D-ring can be a great solution for adding an additional anchor point to your trailer or truck bed. It's made out of a strong steel construction with a zinc finish so it's going to resist rust and corrosion. It's got a 5,000 pound weight capacity and it's got a 1,600 pound safe working load limit. The diameter of the mounting holes is 7/16ths of an inch and the distance between the two holes is going to be 2-1/4 inches. The entire base measures 3-1/2 inches long and it's going to be 1-3/16ths wide. The D-ring itself is a nice 3/8ths of an inch thick and it's going to be 2-1/4 inches long. Now that we've gone over some of the features let's go ahead and show you how to install it.

We've got our generator on our trailer here today and we just want to tie it down. We've got a D-ring on this side of our trailer. What we was is our Brophy ring as an additional anchor point. I'm going to go ahead and place it right here as my desired location and then I'm going to mark those holes out. Once we've got those marked out go ahead and remove the D-ring, that way we can drill those out.

Then we will grab our D-ring. We are going to place it over our holes to make sure everything is all lined up. You will need to provide your own hardware. We are just going to use these two bolts here today, along with two nuts, and two washers. We will go ahead and place those through, then I'm going to go underneath and put the nut and washer in place.

I'm going to go ahead and take the nuts and washers and hand tighten them down. Once I get them both in place I'm going to have a buddy go up there and ratchet them down while I hold them in place. That's going to do it. Now with our D-ring in place the only thing left to do it to put it to good use. Take our strap, run it through, and tighten that down. All right.

We are all set to do. That's going to complete our look at the Brophy trailer bolt-on D-ring tie down, part number SR15-C. .

Exactly what I needed as a secure tie-down to the frame of my pickup bed. I'm able to use ratchet straps to haul hay, other large loads and tighten them as tight as possible without the anchors pulling out. Part of the system when I felt very intelligent for having all the pieces to haul home large farm equipment.

No change - still performing as needed. I have NO concern that the D-ring attachment, bolted to the frame of my Dodge Ram 3500, will be the weak point in any rigging.

@MattL We're glad to hear that the tie-down ring is working well for you!

The home we bought in Nov has a deck and patio door that get full sun in mid-to-late afternoon. I was looking for strong rings I could bolt on 4x4 posts to suspend shade cloth as a solution... found large surface-mount D-rings at Home Depot, but they're costly and bulky. Via Google search, I found your company's D-ring products with smaller size, but same strength. They're exactly what I was looking for... reasonably priced, strong D-rings that mount with two 3/8" carriage bolts. They arrived yesterday... mounted two, so far...

Your D-ring tie-downs look brand new after enduring multiple severe Nor-eastern storms on Cape Cod. I just re-hung the sun shades over our deck, and your product makes that simple, straight forward and secure. Couldnt be happier. I expect them to be in service for many years to come!

by:

I made two purchases for D-Ring 1600+ lb WLL tie downs; one for eight D-rings for my utility trailer and six for my motorcycle lift.

The SR15-C is a strong device with large enough opening to use multiple hooks or tie-thru straps or ropes which is common when securing my ~1,000 lb Goldwing on the trailer.

I now have zero concerns my tie-downs will ever fail. Of course, one must use appropriate straps for the weight as well.

etrailer.com was on-the-ball via email checking on my deliveries yet failed to catch it when my second order was lost in shipment for 5-7 days and failed to respond to my return emails when I attempted to inquire.

When I called them, they were polite and efficient yet had no response to why no answers to my email inquires and would not put the recorder on a fast-trac delivery w/o me paying the extra fees.

Bottom line: product is great value for a solid product and hopefully etrailer.com will rectify their communications challenges.

by:

These D rings work great, easy to install and a good price. etrailer has a great selection and fast shipping.

Still working great no problems or issues.

by:

I received my order of the D rings just a couple of hours ago. I went straight to the hardware store and picked up some bolts, washers and locking nuts.
Installed them on my brand new "Sure-Trac" 5 X 10 trailer in about an hour. They seem to be very solid and should definitely secure whatever I lash down to them. I told the guy at the hardware store I wanted either stainless or nickel hardware. He said it was "nickel" and I hope that's what I got. While I don't plan on exposing my trailer to road salt, it's not totally outside the realm of possibility. I don't really want any dissimilar metal corrosion either. I hate rust. I could only go with 3 stars as I haven't used them yet or seen how the finish holds up when exposed to weather over time. If they don't corrode I'll definitely upgrade my review to 5 stars.

by:

Another great product offered by etrailer these hold downs are everything there supposed to be. Bought these with intentions of using bolts but ended up welding them on. These are galvanize coated, so these process is not recommended. Great product don't have to worry about things when they are strapped down.

by:

Never used it yet, got it to put me in free shipping on an order. It’s heavy duty

by:

Ordered several of these to use as tie down points on my trailer. These work very well for my equipment. They are made very well and take a beating. Great product!

by:

These are high quality, bought 6 of them. First mounted them on top of the wood planks of my trailer but then ended up mounted them on the outside metal rail because the wood was to soft even being 2x6's. Very solid and sturdy, I used 3/8 carriage bolts to mount them

by:

Easy to install, a 3/8" carriage bolt will fit the mounting holes . I got a couple of the larger D rings (1/2" diameter ring) and they're too big I think for a 800 lbs ATV I attached a pic for comparison

by:

The coupler lock works as advertised and the etrailer measurements were perfect. The tie down brackets were also easy to install and work well for holding down my ATV and UTV. The spare tire carrier, wheel and cover all came from etrailer. They fit perfectly.

by:

I was looking for something to replace the totally useless tie downs in my 1999 F-150 truck bed. I saw these D-rings and thought this might work; and am very glad I tried them. They are listed as 2 1/4" ctr holes and the truck is 2" ctr holes; the bolts on the truck tie downs in the bed of the truck are smaller than what you would use if you just installed these D-rings in a normal install; so they fit with NO drilling or cutting out. the only thing I had to do was put some washers on the bolts, the heads are too small and would pull through the holes in the D-ring bracket otherwise. The solid D-ring (welded) does not pull apart when I put pressure on them, pulling up, and the only thing I'm worried about is putting to much pressure (pull) on them and breaking the bolts (screws) that come in the truck bed stock! I looked several places to find out what other people are doing to their trucks to correct this problem and no one has come up with this solution; it works try it!

The D ring tie downs are like brand new, after a year. I use them all the time and have had other people look at them and ask about them. I have a cover on my truck bed so the D rings are protected from the weather. I would highly recommend these for the purpose that I am using them. Most people will use them on or in their trailers but if you need a really good replacement tie down for your truck bed side tie downs these are great!

by:

I purchased 2 of these to mount on the wood floor of my enclosed snowmobile trailer to help secure snowmobiles and dirt bikes (depending on the season). I used a backing plate and am happy with these units. With a backing plate, I feel there is no way the bolts will pull through the wood floor in case of an abrupt stop or accident. The "D" rings are large enough to easily hook a tie down strap to and fold flat when not in use.

Ray F.

9/24/2018

The tie downs are working perfectly. No issues and I would buy these again. Sturdy and well built.

by:

I am very satisfied so far with the d-rings; they are very heavy duty. Now the only question is how well they will hold up living in the bed of my garaged truck at the beach.

I mounted them with stainless hardware; I'm hoping electrolysis won't be an issue.

Mine are mounted on the floor of my Ford Ranger's bed: two immediately in front of the rear wheel bump out and the other two on the bed on either side of the tailgate, as far back as I could get them. 3/8"-20 carriage bolts work perfectly with the square bolt openings on the strap portion of the tie down.

Jay H.

10/21/2014

OK, its been a year and my d-rings look as if I installed them yesterday. Im completely satisfied. If anything, I wish I had a couple more to mount in between the other two pairs of rings. You cant have too many places to hook bungees and the floor is the best place for them.

by:

It is so nice to go to EMAILER and order one specific D ring tie-down anchor! Thanks EMAILER! Little things like this are what keep me coming back! Wonderful!

by:

I would not ever consider buying tires anywhere else than etrailer. Your 5 star tires, service and follow up are wonderful.

by:

I just received the D-Rings I ordered but haven't installed them yet. Looking at them they are exactly what I expected based on the product description and photo. I'm confident they will be more than strong enough for my application. Pleased with my purchase. Did not rank 5 stars for the following reasons: shipping took a day or two longer than expected, weld on D-rings aren't consistent and some don't look great (hoping they are still strong enough), haven't installed or used them yet (no feedback on actual strength or wear & rust).

Nate

1/12/2018

A year later and the D-Rings are still awesome. Zero rust or signs of wear. I just used them again yesterday.

by:

ok tiedowns

by:

Easy to install in my trailer floor with a couple of galvanized carriage bolts, lock washers and nuts. I also added a metal plate to each Tie-down, on the bottom-side of the floor, where the carriage bolts passed through so as to create a greater grab surface area for the washers and nuts underneath...in case I need to tie-down heavy, unstable, or movable loads.

by:

Heavy duty and shipped quickly! Will be great as tie-down points for my 800 lb motorcycle on a trailer.

Dave

10/3/2021

A year after installation and being in the elements, they’re still perfect. No rust and strong as ever.

by:

Picked up a HD utility (6,000 lbs) trailer and decided that I should prep it for towing my 2016 Kawasaki Teryx, say 1350 GVW. I ordered 8 of the 1,600 lb Tie down anchors to use with my Mac's Custom wheel nets. They installed easily and performed as advertised on the test haul. Tomorrow will be the first serious haul but I am confident.

I was able to put at least one bolt through a frame member for each of the tie downs. This actually made backers more complicated in that I had to use a number of different "jury-rigged" backers. I am sure I over did it but what the heck. If it is worth doing, it is worth doing right.

I think it is great you offer the tie downs without hardware in that every application can be different. Your S&H was prompt and the package arrived a day before expected.

Kudus yet again to etrailer.com! One should always look to your site first. Sorry no pictures as I live in a poor ISP area and my upload speed is slow and usually shuts down the whole works. I will be in the "big" city in a week or so if you want to send me a tickle.

by:

I purchased 6 of these and had them welded to the inside angle iron that attaches to my ladder rack on the back of my truck.. They were exactly what I wanted, in size and work load capacity. Local dealers only had the 1/4" or the large 1/2". They "ve held down cabinets, off road motor bikes, refrigerators and large bulky cargo with "O" problems. E trailer was very helpful answering all of my questions. I highly recommend them.

by:

Purchased and received 6 of these tie downs. I had them shipped economy and still received them in just a few days. I needed more variations/locations to connect straps to on my utility trailer floor and these worked out very well. these definitely heavy duty. I used 3/8" galvanized carriage bolts, flat washers, lock washers and nuts. I added one more extra item....I made metal back plates for the underside of the trailer to make it overkill which I am known for.
These are very nice and will definitely do the job.

by:

Sturdy enough. Got 4 for the price of one at local box store. Great value and fast shipping!

by:

I bought these tie downs a year ago to add securement points in my enclosed trailer. I often haul my 870 pound motorcycle and use these tie downs. They are very strong, easy to attach to, don't get in the way, and do the job well in holding a heavy motorcycle secure. These are the perfect securement devices for my situation, and I don't hesitate to recommend them.

  • Where do I Install D-Ring Tie Downs on a 6x10 Wood Bed Utility Trailer
You can attach D-Ring Tie Downs most anywhere on a trailer. You need to select the location based upon what you need to tie-down. When possible, it would be best to drill through metal to install the rings. You can mount them to the wood planks, but they will not be able to bear as much weight. Over time as the wood rots, you can end up with the rings pulling out of the wood. Whenever possible, going through the metal frame of the trailer or using a steel backing plate would be the best...

  • Options for Carrying a 600 lb Scooter Behind an RV
Since the trailer hitch on your RV has a towing capacity of 5,000 lbs, it is safe to assume that it has a 500 lb tongue weight. Trailer hitches are almost always designed to have a tongue weight rating that is 10 percent of the towing capacity. I would not recommend carrying your scooter with a hitch mounted carrier on your RV. In fact, most hitch mounted motorcycle/scooter carriers are not recommended for use on motor homes or RVs because the trailer hitch is further away from the rear...

The Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor - Bolt-On - 3-1/2" Wide - Surface Mount - 1,600 lbs # SR15-C are steel anchors with a zinc finish. Although the zinc finish will help avoid galvanic corrosion from dissimilar metals, the connection by drilling into the aluminum frame is not the best option. It is true the frame will typically be a stronger connection point than the wood deck, but in this case the wood is a better option when secured close to the frame yet not touching it. A good option...
