Recommended Tie Down Anchors For 14" Tall Solid Sides On 5' x 14' Utility Trailer

Question:

I have a 5x14foot aluminum open utility trailer with solid 14inch sides and a bi-fold ramp. The floor has three channels for positioning tie downs, so I can secure heavy items easily, front-to-back and side-to-side. However the solid sides have no anchor points or holes, which makes it hard to secure a tarp and limits the way I can secure items close to the sides, where they would sit on top of one of the three tie-down channels. What would you recommend? Thanks for your time.

Adding the Erickson Horizontal E-Track - Zinc Plated Steel - 2,000 lbs - 5' Long - Qty 1 # E19148 you were looking at to the sides of your 5' x 14' utility trailer would be a great option for giving additional tie down points if you are constantly hauling loads that are different lengths. With this you can add the Erickson E-Track Tie-Off w/ D-Ring - 2" Wide x 8-1/4" Long - 1,200 lbs # E59143 where ever you need for your straps.

Now if you are hauling loads that are the same size, using a few permanent tie downs like the Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor - Bolt-On - 3-1/2" Wide - Surface Mount - 1,600 lbs # SR15-C would be a more cost effective option.

With either option you will need to check with the manufacturer of your trailer to make sure the sides are strong enough for heavier loads to be secured to.

I included videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
