A unitized seal is a dual action seal. The inner part stays fixed on the spindle and the outer casing rotates with the hub. This type of seal has less wear and tear and provides better leak protection.

Unitized Oil Seal for Trailer Hubs - 10-63

Average Customer Rating:  4.9 out of 5 stars   (45 Customer Reviews)

by:

I just changed my hus on my 5th wheel from grease to oil bath from trailer. The kit do do so included these oil seal. As a after thought I wanted a backup set of seal just in case. I thought the price was alittle high but I didn't have time to explore the internet for a lower price so I ordered a set. I may never have to use them but I have peace of mind that they are onboard.

by:

Installation was without issue and they are working like a champ!

by:

I really like these seals, they cost more, but they do an excellent job of oil control, the only disadvantage is if you remove the hub, the seal is probably not going to be reusable, my ratio is about 50/50 but careful patient disassembly helps. I highly recommend this seal for hub rotors that are oil bath, not for drums that are grease and need removal to change brakes. I put about 80k miles on my trailer per year, very happy with the performance

by:

The cheap single lip oem seals all leaked grease onto the brake shoes, what a mess! These oil bath seals are well worth the money and do not leak.

by:

Need to ship in better packaging. Boxes came in with holes. Parts were missing.
Replacement parts were sent out but the job is now delayed waiting on the parts.

by:

Purchased these for spares after using the last spares redoing my bearings. I try to ALWAYS have a spare set on hand. Not exactly the same as the previous ones but will certainly do the job.

by:

I haven't had it long so can't speak of the longevity, the quality looks good and it figs perfect and works as we speak

by:

Exactly what was needed. Installed fine. Outstanding customer service by etrailer.com. I was in a rush, needed the part overnight and my rep watched the order, told me when it shipped and followed it through until it was in my hands. Can't ask for anything more!!

Customer service ++

by:

This seal is of better quality then any other seals I have had in the past, these should last a lifetime. This place has good prices on some hard to find parts, can get almost anything you need, reasonable shipping with lots of options.

by:

This oil seal is a one time use. If you remove it the internal spring pops out.

by:

Great to do business with. Always get what I need when I need it. Ricky at Etrailer is on top of my favorites list.

  • Can Dexter Hub & Drum 8-393-4UC3 be Used as Oil Bath Hub
If you prefer an oil bath, you can do so with the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 7,200-lb Axles Manufactured After 1999 # 8-393-4UC3. What you would need are the Unitized Oil Seal # 10-63 and Oil Cap, Plug and O-Ring for Dexter 7-9K Trailer Axles # RG04-230. Having said that, I recommend sticking with grease as opposed to oil. While oil can be less maintenance, they are both prone to leaks and don't keep water out of hubs as well as a grease cap. The issue with this is that...

  • Does Unitized Oil Seal for Trailer Hubs 10-63 Require Sealant
I contacted Dexter and the Unitized Oil Seal for Trailer Hubs part # 10-63 do not require RTV sealant or a gasket maker. They are typically used in oil bath hubs. I have attached an installation video for your reference.

  • Replacement Brake Assembly and Oil Seal for Dexter 00828510 Brake Drums
It looks as if you have the # 8-285-10UC3-A Dexter Oil Bath hubs. Thanks for sending the photo! Those hubs take a 12 x 3-3/8 inch brake assembly, I'd recommend a self-adjusting brake assembly kit like # K23-532-533-00 which are compatible with a 4 bolt brake flange. This includes the right and left brake assembly. The correct oil seal for your hubs is # 10-63, which has a 2.25 inch ID and a 3.376 inch OD. You can see some product videos for these product by clicking the provided links.

  • Recommended Way to Add Disc Brakes to 2020 Momentum 376THS
The first thing you'd want is the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR79E for each axle. This is a 7k kit with an oil bath dust cover that fits your current spindles and also is compatible with your wheel size. For bearings you'd need to order the # 25580 and # 02475 separately as well as the seal # 10-63 as they are not included. Since you have a triple axle trailer you'd need three of the disc brake kits and 6 each of the bearings and seals. For an actuator kit the best option is the Hydrastar...

  • Comparing TruRyde 10-36 Grease and Dexter 10-63 Oil Seal
The TruRyde Grease Seal part # RG06-070 and Dexter Oil Seal part # 10-63 are both designed for the same size spindle as they have the same dimensions, 2.250" inner diameter and 3.376" outer diameter. That said, the TruRyde is a grease seal therefore designed to be used with grease lubricated hubs. The Dexter is an oil seal which is designed to be used with oil bath lubricated hubs although can be used with grease as well because of the tighter fit.

  • Kodiak Trailer Disc Brakes for 7,000 lbs AL-KO Axles
Yes, it is safe to assume that a 7K axle from AL-KO built in 2014 will have standard spindle and brake mounting specs. It looks like you were looking at disc brakes. If that is the case, the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit, # K2HR79E, that you came from will fit your axles. The bearings and seals are sold separately, so I listed them for you below Inner bearing - # 25580 Outer bearing - # 02475 Grease seal - # RG06-070 or Oil seal - # 10-63 You will need two of each part number. • Replacement Hub and Drums For PJT Trailer With 008-393-03 Installed
Thanks for all of the information on your PJT Trailer! Based on your drum part number you have a 12-1/4" Drum that is oil bath. The Dexter # 8-393-4UC3 is almost right, but it is designed for grease and not oil. You will need the # 8-393-4UC3 and oil seal # 10-63 for each hub. This hub does not include the bearings so you will also need new inner bearing # 25580 and outer bearing # 02475 for each hub. If you need replacement brakes now or in the future you will need # 23-428-429 for...

The unitized seal part # 10-63 has a metal plate that attaches and stays fixed to the spindle and the outer rubber piece will rotate with the hub. This is the kind of seal that is used on oil bat hubs and this particular one is for 8k rated Dexter hubs.

  • How to Find Replacement Oil Seal for 1976 Holiday Rambler
To find the correct replacement oil seal for your 1976 Holiday Rambler you will need to take some measurements. Specifically, the inner and outer diameter is what you need. Once you have the correct measurements you can match them up with the right replacement. For example, if you have an inner diameter of 2.25" and outer diameter of 3.376" you can use the Unitized Oil Seal for Trailer Hubs # 10-63. I have attached a link below to all of our seals which can be filtered by inner and outer...

Yes, using oil bath hub seals # 10-63 will work with the Kodiak disc brake kit you ordered, # K2HR79E. The kit already has the oil caps so you wouldn't need those. The brake kit does not include the bearings. You would need 2 of # 25580 and 2 of # 02475.

  • Availability Of Oil Bath Hubs For Boat Trailer With 7000lb Axles
There are a few options for oil bath hubs for a boat trailer with 7000lb axles though I will start with saying that oil bath hubs are not recommend for a boat trailer due to the oil braking down very fast when water is introduced unlike grease. The first is a disc brake option which is the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 13" Hub/Rotor - 8 on 6-1/2 - Dacromet and Stainless - 7,000 lbs # K2HR712DS. • Removal and Installation of a Unitized Oil Seal for a Trailer Oil Bath Hub
Unitized oil seals such as # 10-63 for example are different than regular grease seals. Unitized seals have an inner part that stays fixed to the spindle on the axle and its outer case rotates with the trailer hub. You would remove and reinstall a new one the same way you would with a regular seal. The best tool to use for unitized seals is a seal removal tool which you should be able to get at a local auto parts store. Once you pry out the old seal, place the new one in the hub. Use a...
