Recommendations to Tie Down Various Vehicles on Car Hauler

Question:

Hi there, I purchased a 16 ft. car hauling trailer one car only, up to 5,000 lbs, to haul different type of cars as a business. Trailer comes with 5 d-ring on the front end including 3 on the tongue and more 2 d-rings on the rear end. I want to use wheel straps and a fast and easy system. I can install additional d-rings or other tie down anchor system if necessary. Please kindly suggest one of your tie down systems and kits. I love the etrack concept, but we will haul different type of cars and width may vary significantly maybe be an issue?. Looking forward for your advise. Thanks

To secure vehicles in your 16 foot car hauler, I recommend using the Erickson Adjustable Ratcheting Wheel Net w/ Hooks # EM58522. These will fit 14 inch to 29 inch tires and includes 2 inch cam buckles to allow the webbing to be shortened or legnthened. These have an individual safe working load limit of 3,333 pounds - so when used on all four tires, they will have more than enough capacity for the maximum 5,000 pound car you are hauling.

You can then install the Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchors # SR15-C at various locations to accommodate the different size vehicles you may be tieing down.

As you referenced in your question, using a standard long E-Track system may not offer the adjustability you need for different size vehicles, however there is an option to use the shorter 2 feet E-Track # EM59150 at different spots along with the Erickson Adjustable Wheel Net with E-Track Fittings # 77314.

I have attached demonstration videos on the products mentioned for you to check out.
