    • Thickness: 1/4"
    • Inner dimensions: 1-1/16" wide x 1-3/16" long
    • Overall width: 1-9/16"
  • Mounting bracket dimensions: 2-1/8" long x 3/4" wide

Note: Tie-down anchors must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the anchors being used. For example, if you are using anchors with a WLL of 100 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 400 lbs, then you need at least 4 anchors to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use anchors in pairs.

Video Transcript for CargoSmart Quarter Inch D-Ring Tie-Down Anchor Review 348825

Randy: Hey guys, Randy here at etrailer.Communicate. We get questions a lot from our customers about different tie down systems, so we're going to take a look at one today from Cargo Smart. This is a quarter inch. The ring has an 800 pound safe working load limit and you've got a nice large opening in it. This is going to be really handy for enclosed trailers, cargo trailers, boat docks, just about anywhere where you want to get something strapped down and because it is nice and compact, I think this would also be a good addition for a garage. You've got some items that you want to hang up to get them up off the floor or something like that.

It could be a really good solution. We're gonna have a one inch by one inch inside here, usable space and straps, ropes, anything in that medium to light duty. Size is gonna fit in here really well. Now, while corrosion isn't going to be that big of a deal if you're using it in an enclosed trailer like this or if you're using it in your garage or something like that. If you're going to be using it outside, it has the clear zinc finish on it. So it's basically a raw steel and they put that zinc finish on it to keep any moisture from getting to that metal causing us issues with corrosion. You see when not in use, it does lay flat and I like that we've got good flexibility.

So we could pull this way towards our wall. We could pull this way towards the middle of our trailer so it gives us a good range of motion. I also think side pulling, like pulling on it this way, as long as you're within that safe working load limit and I don't think you'll have any issues. So while it isn't a rotating connection points where we can pull directly on our D-ring, I think on any angle you could get this secure. As far as the installation goes, we've got the two quarter inch holes that we talked about, so you can either use quarter inch bolts with nylon lock nuts if you're going to be going through steel. We're going to be going into the wood floor here, so we're going to use a couple of number 14 self tapping screws.

Seem to be just about a perfect fit there. Now when strapping your items down, of course you want to use a suitable strap. You want to use something that's rated for what you're going to do. And remember we've got an 800 pound safe working load limit. So we wouldn't want to strap anything down heavier than that. This is a kiT of ratchet straps that we have here. Really nice straps.

I really like these. We put it together in a kit that also has a bag. We'll put the part number up there so if you don't already have straps you can pick it up. Contains four straps in the bag to hold it, so overall it's nice and handy.Something else you want to keep in mind, the 800 pound safe working load limit. So if we're using two of these we can hold something like a UTV, as long as it's under 1600 pounds. We go up to three or four or five, we can multiply that and as long as we're using adequate strength straps should be able to strap down even some heavier loads. But these are lighter duty. There is an option from Cargo Smart, a little bit heavier duty than this. It goes up to 1,667 pounds as a safe working load limit. So if your mind is in the area of those medium to heavier items, I think I'd go that route. If you're thinking of lighter items like this or just hanging in a few things off the wall, it's going to be a really good one to pick.

  • Tie-Down Points Needed For Securing A Load With An Adjustable-Fit Trailer Hitch
Hey Don, This isn't always the case for every adjustable-fit trailer hitch but Curt does require it with their # 13703. If you don't have a tie-down nearby to connect a strap to then you can use a stud finder to locate studs in the back wall of the RV and bolt on some anchors # 348825. I'd put like three or four anchors to give yourself a bit of adjustability when securing your load and then you can use ratchet straps, cam straps, etc. to wrap around the load and clip onto the anchor d-rings.
