Video Transcript for CargoSmart D-Ring Tie-Down Anchors Review

Hi everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we'll be taking a look at our CargoSmart D-ring tie down anchors here at etrailer. So these are both on anchors, which create tie down points for when you have to carry around cargo or loads. So you can see here on our trailer, we have our larger anchors, as well as our anchors over here. And they're kind of overkill for what we need to carry.

We need something smaller and easier to use. And that's where these from CargoSmart come in, These come in a set of four. So you get one on each corner of whatever you need to carry, and you can see how with their small size, if you just need an anchor point in a small area on your trailer, these might be a good option with how easy they are to bolt into small spaces. So this works with your flat solid surfaces and is going to be ideal for your lightweight cargo. So you can use this to tie down your push mowers, your tillers, or your other lightweight cargo.

Like what we have here is a bunch of pallets. They're not that heavy, but they are kind of bulky. So it's nice to have those anchors here. The D-rings rotate 180 degrees. That way you have different options for whenever you use your straps, your bungees, or your ropes, and it gives you different angles for securing your cargo.

This is made of steel and it has a clear zinc plating. So that's going to be helpful when it comes to corrosion resistance, especially when you have it on trailers or other flat surfaces that are outside. When it's out in the element, you want to maintain that corrosion resistance, just be mindful that whatever hardware you use, you want to match it up so you don't rust where the hardware is. So this is on the smaller side when it comes to D-ring anchor points. So your mounting bracket is two five sixteenth inches long and three quarter inches wide.

That will help you figure out where you can put it as well as make sure that you have a space for the D-ring. This does not come with mounting hardware. I actually use my own bolts and washers and nuts. So check out the install process to see how I install this. So my final thoughts about these anchors is I like how small they are. If I need a little bit of flexibility with where I put my brackets, this might be a good option for me, especially if my cargo is not too heavy. Now we do have other options here at etrailer. If you have heavier cargo, let's say you're tying down your car, or you're tying down something large. You may take a look at our larger D-rings here, but if it's something lightweight, like our pallets, this might be a good option for you as long as you know how to drill. So make sure you follow my install process closely so that you get them in the right place. So the D-ring we're looking at right now has a thickness of a quarter inch and a width of one and five eight. Now those measurements kind of determine its break limit as well as its working load limit. So we have other options here from CargoSmart, and those come with different thicknesses, such as three eighth inches think or half an inch thick. And they come in different widths as well. So these hooks have a working load limit of 400 pounds. Now make sure that as you use these, you're also aware of the load limit of your straps and that you use appropriate straps for the anchor. So notice how I have a ratchet strap with a hook that goes right into the anchor, and I can pull this tight and ratchet down just to get all my tension in. So my strap has a load limit of 800 pounds. So you can see how that works with our anchors. Okay. So now we're going to install our anchor. So before we do that, I'll just run you through everything I'm going to use for this process. Since this does not come with hardware, I use my own bolts, as well as the nuts and flat washers. I'm also going to use a size 10 millimeter socket. That's going to go onto my drill just to tighten those bolts as well as those sockets down. And finally, I'm going to need to use a drill bit set so that I can find a hole to mount those bolts into, into my deck in order to finally anchor our anchor. So now we're going to start with drilling a hole. What I do is I have a piece of chalk right over here, and this is what I use to mark out as I measure where I want my holes to be. I'll also use the bracket right over there, just to make sure that it's in the right position. And then we're going to make a pilot hole with our small drill bit. So just get that in place and drill down. Once you have your pilot hole made, you're then going to use the drill bit, which is the size of your bolt. And then use that just right before you install your bolt. Then make sure that the ring is inside of your bracket. As you then line up your bolts. I switched my tool to a Phillips head screwdriver for my drill, and this is what I'm going to use to first bring this down. Now I switched out my drill head for a socket on the head and that's because I'm going to have someone hold this from the top as I put the nut underneath. Good. And once you've completely installed all the nuts, all the bolts and anchor the anchors, that's it for the install. And that was a look here at our CargoSmart D-ring tie down anchors here at etrailer. My name is Evangeline and I hope you enjoyed the journey..
