These steel backing plates for the 2' E-track in your enclosed trailer provide more support than just securing it with using wood or metal screws. Bolt each plate to your E-track on the opposite side of the wall or under the floor.

Features:

  • Backing plates provide extra support for your 2' E-track (sold separately)
    • Perfect for use in an enclosed trailer with a thin wall or floor
  • Multiple pre-drilled holes make plates compatible with horizontal or vertical E-tracks
  • Galvanized steel construction is strong and corrosion resistant
  • Simple, bolt-on installation with included hardware
    • Attach each plate to E-track, evenly spaced, on the opposite side of the wall or under the floor
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Quantity: 2 backing plates
  • Dimensions (each): 6" long x 6" wide x 1/8" thick
  • 4-Bolt mounting pattern: 4-1/2" x 4"
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Note: The included hardware lets you mount your E-track on surfaces up to 2" thick.

Product Dimensions

These backing plates provide more support for your E-track (sold separately) than only using wood or metal screws. Simply put, they allow the pulling force to be distributed over a greater area. This prevents your mower, ATV, or other heavy object from pulling your E-track away from its mounting surface and tearing up your trailer's wall or floor. They're perfect for trailers with thin walls or floors.

Pre-Drilled Holes

Product Dimensions

Pre-drilled holes accommodate the standard 4-bolt mounting pattern found on most horizontal or vertical E-tracks. There are also holes to accommodate D-rings, Snap-Locs, and odd-shaped tie-down anchors.

Simple, Bolt-On Installation

Installed

To install, drill pilot holes in your mounting surface as close as you can to each end of your E-track and directly in the middle so that the plates will be evenly spaced. Place your E-track where you're mounting it and insert the included bolts. On the opposite side of your wall or floor, place the plates over the bolts and secure them using the included washers and nylon lock nuts.

Fast delivery and exactly what I was looking for. Just gathering the materials for transforming my enclosed utility trailer to as bike hauler. Hopefully this will all come together in the next 45 days.

These backing plates work as advertised - and are greatly appreciated.

One bolt came with a round head on it for some reason. Have to replace that one

That is a bit unusual. I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you. We can have a replacement bolt sent out.

Worked great for e tracks in floor. Would definitely get these if installing e tracks.

by:

Back plates are very easy to install as the holes are universal enough to fit about any pattern of bolting the tracks in place. They seem sturdy enough to get the job done. I cannot attest to how long they will hold up as I just installed them, but I would expect they will last a long time. However, I actually plan to seal mine with undercoating to ensure longevity.

by:

I was actually missing a few of these from my order and etrailer was immediately responsive and got the missing parts out to me right away. Will definitely be doing business here again.

by:

This was a super handy device. I used it to secure my toolbox to the floor in the trailer.

Looks well made

by:

Great backing for thin floors. When in doubt, don't doubt!

by:

Quick and easy... better price by ordering 8 2-packs than ordering the 16-pack... Saved some bucks.

  • Can the Erickson Horizontal E-Tracks Be Used on a Car Trailer
So long as the wooden planks are securely attached to the steel cross beams I see no reason as to why the Erickson Horizontal E-Track part # EM59150 with the Erickson Adjustable Wheel Net part # 77314 would not work for you. However, if you are concerned with strength then you can always add a backing plate to the back of the planks with the E-Track Backing Plate part # e96RR. I have attached review videos for you as well.

  • Can the Erickson ATV E-Track Tie-Down Kit EM09160 Wheel Chocks Be Split Across Axles
Instead of splitting the wheel chocks and straps of one Erickson ATV E-Track Tie-Down Kit # EM09160 across the ATV's two axles I suggest using two kits. The modest price of this Erickson tie-down kit means using two will not cost too much, but doing so will not only provide a much bigger safety margin relative to the weight of your ATV, but also allow that at other times when you're using the trailer for standard cargo items you will have multiple attachment points you can use along with...

  • Parts Needed to Install Erickson ATV E-Track Tie-Down Kit EM09160 on Steel Grid Trailer Deck
Yes, you absolutely can mount the Erickson ATV E-Track Tie-Down Kit # EM09160 to a trailer with a steel grid deck. All you'll want to do is add two of the steel backing plate, part # e96RR, to ensure the load is well distributed across the deck material. I suggest you select stainless steel or galvanized nuts/bolts to install the E-Track wheel chocks and backing plates.

  • Recommended Backing Plate to Use with Erickson ATV E-Track Tie-Down Kit
If you need to use a backing plate to install and secure the Erickson ATV E-Track Tie-Down Kit # EM09160 to your trailer floor, I recommend the etrailer Backing Plate # e96RR. This backing plate will reinforce and improve the tie-down support and is designed specifically to work with the E-track systems. The plate measures 6 inches long, 6 inches wide, and 1/8 inch thick. I have attached an installation video that you can also take a look at.

  • What Hardware Should Be Used To Install Erickson Horizontal E-Track To 2X8 Trailer Deck Boards
The hardware you use to attach the # E19148 E-Track to your trailer deck is really up to you. You will want to make sure the hardware is long enough to go through the E-Track and the 2x8 and still have enough length to use washers with the nuts. I recommend stainless steel or zinc plated hardware so you don't have to worry about corrosion. The best way to attach it is to use hardware in every other hole on the track. The hardware should be available at any local hardware store. You may...

  • Mounting Erickson E-Tracks to 3/8 Inch Plywood or Vinyl Covered Walls
To mount Erickson E-Tracks like the 4 Foot Long # EM19147 that you are looking at you will want to use 1/4 inch diameter screws/bolts. The length is entirely dependent on the application but for 3/8 inch plywood I really recommend first securing the plywood to the trailer frame in as many points a possible (if not already done so). You can also remove plywood from the areas you plan on installing the E-Track and reinforce the back of the plywood with a mounting plate like # e96RR. You...

  • Is Steel Backing Plate Needed to Install Erickson ATV E-Track Tie-Down Kit
The installation method you mention for the # EM09160 Erickson ATV E-Track Tie-Down Kit should be sufficient to hold down your 800 lb ATV, but I'd personally feel better if you could tie in to a metal crossmember under the trailer decking or use a backing plate like # e96RR. The backing plate is made by a different manufacturer so the holes won't match up perfectly. You'll need to drill a new set of holes in each plate. I'm a big believer in overkill, and by using a backing plate, you'll...

  • E-Track Parts to Secure Rock Crawler on Deck Trailer
It is best to have E-Tracks like # E19148 installed in the direction of travel for securing a vehicle. The previous owner of the trailer may have had a specialized cargo application that required left-to-right positioning of the tracks. That's fine for tool boxes and equipment but for a 2-1/2-ton vehicle with a high center of gravity it is safer to have the wheel nets like # 77314 installed without twists or lateral tension. It's no big deal to make the minor modification needed. You don't...

  • What Hardware Should I Use to Install Erickson E-Tracks
Yes. A 304 or 18-8 bolt (which have the same makeup) will be sufficient to mount the Erickson E-Tracks and carry your 1700-lbs UTV. I would also recommend using a the E-Track Backing Plate # e96RR to add strength and improve tie-down support. If you also need some wheel chocks that fit in these E-tracks, the Erickson E-Chock Wheel Chock # EM09162-2 make a great addition to your new E-track setup since they fit directly into the Erickson E-tracks and provide a solution to eliminate movement...

  • Should E-Track Be Attached to Trailer Frame for Installation
When installing an E-track, such as # E19148, it is always best to attach the track to the trailer's main structural components, such as the frame, when possible. The frame will provide the best support for the system. The E-Track Baking Plate # e96RR works well to help reinforce the E-track when the frame is not located in the area where you need to install your E-track. The installation process for the E-track can vary on a trailer to trailer and cargo to cargo basis. To be sure your...

Erickson E-Track fittings like the Tie Down Ring # 59131 will work just fine in their ATV E-Track Tie-Down Kit # EM09160. Please note you will supply appropriate installation hardware for the ATV kit based on the requirements of the mounting surface where you will install it. The four outside holes on the etrailer plate # e96RR do generally align with the mounting holes on the ATV kit but we have found that it may sometimes be necessary to enlarge two of them to get the best fit. • How do E-Tracks Typically Install to a Trailer Wall
When attaching e-tracks like the part # E19148 typically people run the bolts through the track, then through the wall or floor they are attaching the track to, through the backing plate like part # e96RR, and then finally the nuts get threaded onto the bolts. Check out the install video I attached to see how this is done usually. If you wanted to route the bolts the opposite way that would be possible as well.

  • Hardware For Installing E-Tracks on Marine Plywood Trailer Deck
Because of their versatility there isn't a specific type of wood screw that's recommended when installing the Erickson E-Tracks like # E19148. • Can E-Track Be Installed Over Rubber Non-Ski Covering On Wood Floor in Trailer
You should really attach E-Track directly to the wood floor of the trailer by trimming the rubber covering in the area you want to mount the track. Also I recommend using several E-track backing plates, # e96RR, under the wood floor so that the force applied to the wood floor is spread out over a wider area. this will help prevent the E-track from pulling out when a load is pulling on it.

The Zinc Sheet Metal Screw - 8 x 3/4" Indented Hex Washer Head - Hex Slotted Drive # 31071 are a good choice for your wall studs, but not for your 3/4 inch wood floors. The zinc coating on both the E-track # E19148 and the screws will prevent galvanic corrosion from the dissimilar metals of steel and aluminum. • Installing E-Track to Metal Floor of Car Hauler
There isn't a set rule, but I'd recommend bolting the e-track into place. The distance between fasteners will depend on the nature and structure of the floor of your trailer. If the metal floor has a sturdy wood backing, I'd attach the e track about every 6 inches or so, making sure that some of the fasteners are going into the frame members of the trailer if possible. Using backing plates like part # e96RR would be a good idea, as well.

For your 12 foot length, I recommend using at least 4 of these as evenly spaced as possible and overlapping any seam where two tracks meet. E-Track like # E19148 is zinc-coated steel and since the trailer is aluminum you would want to paint the bottom of the E-Track. Otherwise the dissimilar metals can cause corrosion to start. Be sure to also consider the fasteners used. Zinc-coated fasteners could be used but you will want to spray some paint in the areas there the fasteners are under the trailer.
