Is the 18inch extender safe to pull a 16foot tracker boat behind truck and camper? Is sway an issue?

The Brophy Hitch Extender for 2-inch Trailer Hitches # ST18 can be used to tow a boat trailer behind your truck-pulled camper. There are a few things that you will want to keep in mind though.

Even though you can pull a boat trailer behind a bumper trailer it is illegal is many states. The max Tongue Weight (TW) is 350 lbs and max Gross Trailer Weight is 3,500 lbs. Keep in mind that even though this might have a fairly good TW capacity, your TW capacity is reduced by 33-1/3% percent and you would go by whichever is lowest, your tongue weight or the 350 lbs of the extension.

Since you will be adding another 18 inches of length and a load to your trailer, yes you will see a bit more sway.
