This Brophy Hitch Extender with Step worked GREAT! Allowed me to keep the tailgate on on truck down so I could load my ATV into the truck bed and still tow the trailer with stabilizer bars without banging into the trailer jack.

We are using this extension on a truck with a 8 ft bed and popup truck camper. We are pulling two horses in a 12ft steel stock trailer. The step helps for getting into the camper. The only thing that I don't like is that it adds one more sloppy joint between the trailer, but I don't think I could have the truck camper and still pull the trailer without worrying about hitting the trailer without it. Other than that, it is very well built and solid. I would buy it again for sure. I have been happy with purchasing trailer products from etrailer and will do so in the future when the need arises.

  • Weight Ratings For Brophy and Buyers Products Hitch Extenders With Steps
The weight ratings for the 14" Brophy Hitch Extender with Step # ST12 is the same for the 18" Brophy Hitch Extender with Step # ST18. Both are capable of up to 700lbs tongue weight and 7,000lbs trailer weight when using a weight distribution hitch. Do remember that these both reduce the capacity of the receiver on your vehicle by 1/3rd. So your hitch must have a weight rating of 1,050lbs tongue weight and 10,500lbs trailer weight to reach achieve the maximum rating for the extender. The...

  • Bike Rack for a Camper on a 1982 Ford F-250
You'll need to take a few measurements prior to purchasing a rack to ensure a good fit. First, you'll want to measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the furthest point away of either the tailgate or camper, whichever is further. Your bike rack will need to be able to clear this distance to be able to equip to the vehicle. Because you have a camper, I recommend picking an extender with a step that will be far enough away to use to get into the camper. This has the added benefit...

  • Recommended Hitch Mounted Pickup Step Usable with Tailgate Down
The HitchMate TruckStep Extendable, Hitch Mounted Step for 2" Hitches - 9" x 6" - 500 lbs # HE4045 is the only extendable step we carry that reaches that far. We do have hitch extenders that have the step for that same purpose like the Brophy Hitch Extender with Step for 2" Trailer Hitch Receivers 18" # ST18 or the Brophy Hitch Extender with Step - 2" Hitches - 19" Long - 6-1/2" x 17" Platform # ST12 (14inch extension). These won't extend quite as far out from the tailgate to give you...

  • 14 inch Hitch Extender that Can be Used to Tow 4,500 lb Vehicle
We have a hitch extender that does have the capacity needed and is 14 inches long with the # ST12 but the Curt you referenced would not have the needed weight capacity as it is limited to towing up to 3,500 lbs. The # ST12 has a 7,000 lb towing capacity.

  • Is There a TorkLift SuperHitch Available for a 2016 Silverado 1500?
Though I do have a 19 inch Brophy Hitch Extender with Step ( # ST12 ) available that is rated to 7,000 pounds with weight distribution, the dual style receiver is no longer available for a 1/2 ton Silverado, unfortunately. However, it should be noted that this will reduce your towing capacity by 1/3, so the limiting factor is the capacity of your hitch The Curt MV Weight Distribution System w/ Friction Sway Control # C17062 will fit with this extension, but I do suggest using the Roadmaster...

  • Step for the Back of a 2016 Ram 2500 Long Bed
I may have a solution for you but Roadmaster dual receiver # RM-077-4 cannot be used for towing trailer and it only has a tongue weight capacity of 400 pounds so it is not a good option. Hitch extender with step # ST12 would be a good option. The only problem is that since it is an extension it will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 33 percent. And it is rated for just 350 pounds tongue weight itself so it isn't a good option either. If you can tell me the year...

  • Will Brophy Hitch Extender with Step Work With Tongue Weight of 331 lbs
The Brophy Hitch Extender with Step # ST12 will reduce your hitch (tongue) weight capacity - including the tongue weight - by 1/3 and has a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 lbs and tongue weight capacity of 350 lbs. For example, if your 2007 GMC Sierra 2500 has the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75550, which normally has a 6,000 lb towing capacity and 600 lb tongue weight capacity, you would still be reduced to a maximum 3,500 lb towing capacity and 350 lb tongue weight. Since you...
