Can You Use a Brophy ST18 with Weight Distribution
Question:
I have a 1999 Ford F-350 diesel with what I believe is a 10,000# capacity hitch. I tow a 6,000# trailer when loaded with a 500# tongue weight. I use a weight distribution system. Reducing my hitch capacity by 1/3 allows a total trailer weight of 6,667#. Using the weight distribution system I am within the limits of the ST18 and my reduced hitch capacity correct?

Though you will want to double check the towing rating of your 1999 Ford F-350 diesel, the weight ratings you listed will work with the Brophy # ST18. That being said, this will allow for a little movement when installed, especially with a weight distribution system. Due to this, you will want to add a couple anti rattle devices, like the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061. For what you will be doing, I would go with 2 of these. One for the hitch on the vehicle, and one for weight distribution system being installed in the # ST18. This will keep everything secure and stable when in use.
