How Much Does The Brophy Hitch Extender Reduce Tongue Weight

If I have a truck tongue weight capacity of 500lbs and I put a Reese hitch extension in does that reduce my tongue weight capacity by 35 325lbs?

Almost all hitch extenders will cut your tongue weight in half. However, Brophy has confirmed their Brophy Hitch Extender with step part # ST18 will cut the tongue weight of the trailer hitch by only 33-1/3%. If your hitch is rated for 500 lbs tongue weight then the new tongue weight will be 333 lbs compared to 250 lbs with the other options.
I instead recommend using an extra long ball mount if you can get away with it because they do not reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch at all. The Brophy Ball Mount part # BM20 has a 13-1/4" long shank to help extend your setup. This ball mount has a 10,000 lb capacity and 3/4" Rise with a 2" Drop.
You can use a ball with a 1" diameter shank like part # 63845 if you need a 2" ball or part # 19260 if you need a 1-7/8" ball. If you happen to need a 2-5/16" ball I recommend part # C40007.
