How to Determine the Support Capacity You Need in Your Landing Gear

Landing gear stabilizes about 25% of your trailer's total weight when it's loaded up. For example, a 14,000-lb trailer has a pin weight of about 3,500 lbs. For these legs to work, you'd need a set of landing gear strong enough to lift no less than 3,500 lbs. And, yes, it's okay to have some legs with a weight rating that is higher than your trailer's pin weight. In fact, they should operate more efficiently, allowing you to spend less time cranking and more time camping.

Note: Do not use landing gear to lift your trailer during tire changes or service work, because doing so will exceed the capacity of the landing gear.

All great but box was destroyed, didn’t hurt the jack at all

by:

Jack appears to be fine but packing could use some improvements.

by:

I also received this in a couple days. It is really a good strong
10000 lbs jack. I can’t wait to get it out on.

by:

GREAT PRODUCT, EASY OREDERING, FAIR PRICE, FREE SHIPPING

by:

Sturdy and reliable. I have 4 of these on a 20' 12,000lbs trailer and they are driven by hydraulic motors. They are cycled multiple times a day for 8 weeks during harvest season. So far so good.

by:

I Have been using it for a year without any problems.

by:

This is a replacement for the original jack that came with my trailer. I am hard on equipment as I build fences and have to drag across terraces and through stream crossings. I carry a skid steer, four wheelers and attachments. This jack is lower geared than the previous one on the trailer and is much easier to raise with weight still on the trailer...slower, but a great improvement. It's nice to be able to unhook without having to unload all the time!

Still working great! No problems. Great product. Thanks for the follow up

by:

We have been propping up the goose neck flatbed for years. The Bulldog hitch was easily installed, makes hooking up and dropping our trailer a lot easier and safer, and seems better built than the original. Wish we had done this a long time ago!

Still easy to use and holding up well, great purchase!

by:

Nothing wrong with the jack. etrailer has always provided prompt shipping as well. But, as you will see in other reviews, the packaging is terrible. The jack was shipped in a light duty box, and was all but destroyed when I received it. The foot on the jack was bent up in two corners, it was clearly dropped hard at some point. The jack however is still functional, even if I do have to perform minor repairs. I also ordered 2 seals at the same time; the small box the seals came in was bent in half, but I got lucky an the seals were not damaged. 5 stars for the jack, 4 stars for prompt service, -5 stars for packaging.

by:

I've owned many pieces of equipment that require one form of a jack or another. In my experience, Bulldog jacks are the best on the market. Thus, it was a no-brainer to purchase this Bulldog jack as a replacement for the one on my livestock trailer. E-trailer stocked items are always priced competitively compared to other suppliers and the quick customer service is worth the price even if it is a little higher.

by:

Welded the new Jacks were I cut the old ones off the cross rod work with the new Jacks everything work out good if you need jacks this is the place to go

by:

I'm been using e-trailer for a few years now. They have a great selection of trailer accessories and parts. There website is easy to navigate and find what you need. I save money and time by ordering with e-trailer.

by:

Overall great! Paint could be better and stickers made so you can move them

by:

Great product. Exact replacement for the jack on our dump trailer.

by:

Product was just as described and is a quality replacement. After shopping around this was the best price I could find. Shipping was quick.

by:

Product arrived yesterday. It was not packed very good and the box was torn all to pieces. Not damage to jack except for some scratched up paint. Otherwise the service was great.

Jack is already on trailer and getting ready to install the electric motor.
Thanks

by:

Excellent product, I searched locally and on the internet for this product and nobody even came close to etrailer's price. And it shipped the same day! Thanks much!

by:

Great service from them just what I needed for my trailer.

by:

Worked well and were priced fairly.

  • How to Manually Operate a Bulldog Landing Gear Jack with Powered-Drive Kit # BD1824200100
What he will need to do is to use an appropriate sized socket and wrench on the end of the rod located above the electric motor on Bulldog Powered-Drive Kit for Single-Speed Jacks, # BD1824200100. He will also most likely need an extension in order to be able to turn the wrench a full 360 degrees and not make contact with the electric motor.

  • Powered Drive Kit Availability for a 12k Bulldog Landing Gear Jack
If you have a single speed, Bulldog jack rated for 12,000 pounds, like # BD182815, you would need the complete powered drive kit, # BD1824200100. If you have a 2-speed jack, the correct powered drive kit is # BD1824180100. The 2 speed motor and single speed motor are not identical so you would need to select the correct one based on your Bulldog jack. There will be some welding required that a qualified welder in your area would have no problem with.

The crank for the Bulldog Square Jack # BD182815 is sold separately. • Would Bulldog Jacks # BD182815 and # BD183816 Work Well on 24k Trailer
If you ran the Bulldog Jacks part # BD182815 and # BD183816 on a trailer that weighed a max of 24k you'd be good. Each of these jacks has a 10k lifting capacity so you'd have 20k of lifting capacity which is more than enough for the front of a 24k trailer. The jacks are not rated for the total trailer weight and are instead just rated for the amount they can lift vertically.

If you have a single speed, Bulldog jack rated for 12,000 pounds, like # BD182815, and/or powered drive kit, # BD1824200100, then this is the correct motor. The motor by itself does not include anything else like gears. For that you would need the complete powered drive kit, # BD1824200100. If you have a 2-speed jack, the correct powered drive kit is # BD1824180100. The 2 speed motor and single speed motor are not identical so you would need to select the correct one based on your Bulldog jack.

  • Recommendation to Replace Holland 4800SL Gooseneck Jack with Electric Model
Based on my research your existing Holland 4800SL jack is very similar to the Bulldog Square Jacks like # BD182815. This particular jack can be used with the Bulldog Powered-Drive Kit # BD1824200100 to convert it to a quiet, electrical system that allows for easy lifting. You would need to upgrade the landing gear to a planetary 2-speed jack part # BD183816 and part # BD182815 with 4 inch tubing. Then add a powered drive kit gear motor part # BD1046130-00.
