I pulled my boat for 1,500 miles soon after replacing the old pump. Brakes were effective and worked perfect. That was a year ago. Last week I launched my boat for the first time since then. No brakes. After a lot of contact cleaner, plugging and unplugging the cable to the truck, exercising the brake actuator, I finally got the pump to work again. That was the reason I replaced the original pump which was inop because of not being used. If you don't use it, you will lose it. It is a very expensive part. Dexter will not sell you the electronic pressure proportional valve that gets gummed up causing the pump to fail. Dexter will not give you the part number for that valve. Unfortunately, the stamped part number got obliterated part number during removal was unreadable. This was a very expensive lesson to learn, $1,069.98. In the future I will be exceptional careful when removing the valve should I have another failure. That valve will probably sell for less than $100.00.

As far as Etrailer is concerned, they are the best when it comes to shipping quickly and helping the customer get what he needs.

I am most please that this company stands by their product and is a pleasure to deal with!!!!!!!!!!!!

by:

They sent package with incorrect wiring but sent the new one. Easy install great customer service

by:

Expensive but worth every penny! Works like a charm, it does have a whining sound when in operation, this includes stop lights, you'll sit there with a constant buzzing, it's not super loud but noticeable. I have mine installed in a tongue tool box to protect from theft and weather so the sound is muffled. The extra safety and braking performance is worth though!

by:

The actuator kit has really worked well! Installation was straight forward, and the system has worked great on my boat trailer. Far better than the original surge brake system.

by:

E trailer came through with limited quantities of eoh activator kits when no one else had them.
And a real person tracked my order and send me emails about status

by:

Nice to have real brakes on the camper.

Titan
has a great tech help line. I explained the problem i was facing and was given 2 things to verify. Less than 5 minutes of trouble shooting and I had it working just like it is supposed to. Not only did they help me solve my problem, but I was emailed a revised owners manual and field trouble shooting guide.

Great products and great CS from titan

by:

i used the same unit on my old trailer. installing this one on my new boat trailer, they work great

  • What is the Response Time for Titan BrakeRite Electric Over Hydraulic Actuators
The Titan electric over hydraulic brake actuators including # T4813102 take 0.3 seconds to get to 200 psi and 1.1 seconds to get to 90 percent of their full rated pressure which would be 1,350 psi for the BrakeRite EHB # T4813102. This is about as fast as you're going to find for an electric over hydraulic actuator. If you converted that to an electric system it would be faster.

  • Titan BrakeRite 1 Plug and Play part # T4813102 Pressure Rating
The psi rating for the Titan BrakeRite I Plug and Play Electric-Hydraulic Actuator Kit # T4813102 that you referenced is 1,600 psi as that's the correct rating for disc brake applications. To use this with lower PSI drum brake applications you'd need the part # T4844100 which is a pressure reducer.

  • Is the OEM Brake Controller in a 2018 Ram 3500 Compatible with the BrakeRite EOH Actuator
I spoke with my contact at Titan who said that they have been experiencing some issues with the OEM brake controllers in the 2018 Ram 3500 pickups like what you have. He did say that it is hit and miss at this point so your controller may or may not work directly with the BrakeRite system but we do have a solution for you if it doesn't work properly. If you experience disconnect while using the Titan BrakeRite I Plug and Play Electric-Hydraulic Actuator Kit # T4813102 system or Titan BrakeRite...

  • Breakaway Battery Recommendation for a Titan BrakeRite EHB Electric-Hydraulic Actuator # T4813102
The breakaway battery used with the Titan BrakeRite EHB Electric-Hydraulic Actuator # T4813102 that you referenced must have at least 12 amp hours. The battery will be mounted on the trailer. For a kit that includes both breakaway batteries needed you would want the part # T4822100.

  • How Does BrakeRite EHB Wire to Trailer with a Single Battery
I attached a diagram that shows how the BrakeRite Actuator part # T4813100 gets wired to a trailer. If you have only one battery on your trailer you'd need to run all of the battery connections to the single battery and you'd be set. The newest version of this is the Titan BrakeRite I Plug and Play Electric-Hydraulic Actuator Kit # T4813102.

  • How to Install the Titan BrakeRite SD and EHB Adapter for Ford/Chevy Integral Brake Controllers
The Titan BrakeRite SD Adapter, # T4845900, is going to plug in line with the wiring for the actuator so it will mount on the trailer. This particular adapter works with the Titan BrakeRite I Plug and Play Electric-Hydraulic Actuator Kit, # T4813102. The plugs are color coded on the adapter and wiring so you know where to plug it in. If you have the EHB unit but the SD adapter, just cut off the plugs so you just have the blue and white wires left over and install as described above.

  • How to Order Titan BrakeRite Disc Brake Kit with Kodagard Calipers
We can piece together the kit you are wanting but we don't have an exact version of the # T4843800 that has the Kodaguard calipers and dacromet disc kit part # K2HR526DKG. So the first two things you need are the # K2HR526DKG (two sets) to cover the hub/rotors and then the actuator kit # T4813102. The breakaway kit you'd need is the # T4822100 and then for the brake line kit you'd need the part # T4830000 and you'd be set.

  • Troubleshooting a Faulty Brake Actuator Coupler That Will Not Reattach to Hitch Ball
When you say the tongue will not fall down, it sounds like the shock in the actuator may need to be replaced. There may be a few other parts that could be rusted, bent or broken. Replacing parts in the brake actuator coupler is not an easy task and usually requires a mechanically inclined person. Another factor to consider is that by the time you purchase all of the replacement parts you are better off replacing the entire coupler and having all new parts. I would not recommend replacing...

  • Troubleshooting Brake Controller that Wont Engage Trailer Brakes in 2012 Chevrolet 2500
My guess is you're using the factory installed electronic brake controller that came with your 2012 Chevy 2500. The factory installed controllers are designed to work with electric brakes and not electric-over-hydraulic. However, there is a solution. If you're using the Titan BrakeRite # T4813102 then you will need the adapter # T4845900.

  • Will Titan SD Adapter for Ford Factory Brake Controllers Part # T4845900 Reduce Braking Time Delay
My contact at Titan advises that the Plug and Play Electric-Hydraulic Actuator Kit, part # T4813102, will begin to develop hydraulic pressure approximately 3/10ths of a second after the tow vehicle brakes are applied (and after the brake controller sends its braking signal to the actuator). It is normal for the hydraulic pressure from the actuator to take additional time to build up, travel through the lines and reach the trailer brake assemblies. An overall delay of 1 to 2 seconds is typical....

I find the Hydrastar Vented Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator # HBA16 is a more reliable system than the Dexter BrakeRite Actuator # DX36XR. We have it available as a Plug and Play Kit # HS481-8067 much like the Dexter BrakeRite # T4813102 you found. • Adding a Brake Controller For Trailer with Surge Coupler
It sounds like you're wanting to use an electric over hydraulic braking system, which is kind of a hybrid between the surge brake system and an electric braking system. You'd retain the hydraulic brakes on your trailer, but you'd either replace the existing coupler with a standard one, or place a bolt side to side through the coupler so it can't slide any more. You'd then add an electric over hydraulic actuator to the trailer, like part # T4813102. If you have drum brakes, you would add...

  • How Much Brake Fluid Is Needed For Titan BrakeRite Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator?
According to Dexter the BrakeRite # T4813102 actuator holds 0.7 quarts of DOT 3 or 4 brake fluid. Do remember this is only for the reservoir on the actuator itself. It does not include the amount of fluid you will need for the brake lines, and calipers or servos. The length and inner diameter of all the brakes lines along with the types of brakes is going to be different from trailer to trailer. If unsure of how much total fluid to get to fill all the lines and brakes you can should overestimate...

The Titan BrakeRite # T4813102 you'd looked at would also work well, but our install crew here prefer the HydraStar as they've found that they're more reliable and durable over time. • Intermittent Trailer Disconnected Display and Weak Braking with Titan BrakeRite EHB
The issue you described sounds like a ground problem. This could cause your weak braking with the brake pedal as well as your trailer disconnected message. The reason it is causing you to have weak brakes with the pedal and not with the manual override is that the manual override will send more power to the brakes than the pedal will even at max power (proportional brake controller only). The higher voltage from the manual override has a better chance of reaching its destination without...
