Is the OEM Brake Controller in a 2018 Ram 3500 Compatible with the BrakeRite EOH Actuator

Question:

I am having a shed trailer built with an electric over hydraulic Brake Rite system. The trailer builder told me that the factory installed brake controller on my truck will not work with this system. He recommended a Prodigy p2 brake controller. I dont want to disconnect my factory one, which has a setting for light and heavy electric over hydraulic systems. I am going to be using this trailer 5 days a week, will the factory brake controller work with they Brake Rite system without causing any problems?

I spoke with my contact at Titan who said that they have been experiencing some issues with the OEM brake controllers in the 2018 Ram 3500 pickups like what you have. He did say that it is hit and miss at this point so your controller may or may not work directly with the BrakeRite system but we do have a solution for you if it doesn't work properly.

If you experience disconnect while using the Titan BrakeRite I Plug and Play Electric-Hydraulic Actuator Kit # T4813102 system or Titan BrakeRite II Severe-Duty # T4835700 then you can use the Titan BrakeRite SD Adapter # T4845900. My contact at Titan also confirmed that this would take care of the problem.

IF you are are using the older # T4813100, then you would use the BrakeRite EHB Adapter # DX35FR . My contact at Titan also confirmed that this would take care of the problem.

Should you decide you would rather use an aftermarket brake controller then I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 which has 3 boost levels for different size trailers, will work with a wide variety of EOH systems (without an adapter), and will allow you to save 5 different settings for various towing setups. This is just an updated version of the Prodigy P2 # 90885 that your guy recommended.

Either controller will plug into the same place where your OEM controller is connected with the Plug-In Adapter # 3024-P.
