Video Transcript for Thule Bike Racks Cradle Replacement Straps Review

What's up, everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be checking out this Thule replacement rubber strap for a bunch of different Thule bike racks. Right now, we have the Hitching Post Pro on here, and you can kind of tell by the one that you're probably replacing, which one this fits. It's the rubberized one with all the holes. We'll say that you lost yours because I think it would take a lot to damage one of these, or if you just left it out in the elements all the time, and it would dry up and crack, you can easily get this replacement. It's going to be the exact same as the ones that are already on this bike rack. It works the exact same way, goes on and attaches.

It's going to be a great replacement for that one you missed, you might have lost. Now you can order just one if you want. Again, I suggest getting four because if you already lost one, there's a chance you lose another one. Might as well have spares on the ready just in case. Well, I hope this helped.

Thanks for hanging out.

I got exactly what I ordered, no surprises, which is not actually all that common.
I will always rely on etrailer for replacement parts.

by:

Over the lifetime of my Thule bike rack I have had to order several Anti Sway cradles and Angled Extensions because they keep falling off. Once I install them on the bike rack I pull on them to make sure they are attached securely. Nonetheless, at some point they fall off. I don't understand why. If you have any suggestions, I would apprreciate them. Thank you.

straps are thick and sturdy and work well until they break. I bike throughout the summer, and the car sits in the sun while I'm biking. The hot sun makes these straps very pliable, so they stretch and over time break. This is my second pack of replacement straps. It's important to carry extras so you aren't without enough straps to carry all your bikes back home.

by:

Great resource for bike carriers and parts! I am very happy I discovered etrailer as a source for bike carriers. Highly recommended.

by:

After 1 year the replacement straps continue to hold the bikes securely.

by:

4 is better than 1

by:

Over $x each for a piece of rubber is insane. Not blaming Etrailer because it appears that everyone sells them for $30. Other than the price these hold up fairly well, of course they eventually break especially if exposed to weather/sun for a longer period.

by:

Arrived earlier than expected, fit perfectly. I actually installed this on the Thule 934PRO Hitching Post Pro.

by:

It was exactly what I needed, and it was original, not a spinoff brand you find with other shippers, I already need another part and I will be using etrailer once again.

by:

Exactly what I needed to breathe new life into our old four-bike rack.

by:

A quick & seamless delivery. Thank You!

@DrN We're glad to hear that your replacement bike rack cradle straps are working well for you!

We love working with etrailer. Very helpful if you wish to speak to a representative.
We have purchased a trailer hitch for our car as well as a Tulle bike rack. Wonderful products at good prices. As we use our bikes and racks frequently, one of the straps used to secure the bikes ripped apart. I am sure due to heat, rain and other assorted weather conditions, the straps will wear. So easy to go on line and purchase another package of straps. My order was processed and delivered quickly. I have on many occasions recommended etrailer as they have all that you are looking for and good prices!

Great, sturdy straps! Bought extra not because they tore or ripped, more for the fact we may lose one or two!

by:

I received my straps this morning. They are same as the originals. Easy to install. Ordering from etrailer was very convenient and delivery was a just a few days.

by:

I need a bike rack.
I had a bike rack,
but the straps broke. I thought I would have to junk it and buy a new one. Then, I found all these spare parts for the Thule bike racks. The good news is that not only are the parts better than the OEM straps, they didn't cost an arm and a leg.
Thanks to etrailer.com, my bike rack is better than new and we can take our bikes camping again.

Update on my review: Ive used the bike rack several times. The straps are still the best thing to happen to this rack since I bought it. Not only do they work better than the OEM straps but because it is easy to take them off and store them out of the Sun and weather. Kept in a plastic bag, they are still soft, pliable and strong. In all, a very good buy.

by:

The replacement straps were exactly the same quality Thule straps that originally came with our bike rack, so that was a positive, while the ease of ordering, price and quick shipping made this a solid deal. We will check etrailer now whenever we need something that they supply.

We used the straps frequently and they are still in like-new condition. Great quality!

by:

Thanks for a wonderful product! As a 74+ yr old gal I love to bike ride, from short treks w/grandkids to long mountain rides like the Hiawatha Trail in ID/MT. The Thule bike rack is a life saver - it's easy to put on & remove from the car when it's only me going plus it has room for one additional bike. (Before getting the Thule I had to take the truck to fit the bike into, which was pretty terrible on fuel efficiency) The license plate shows w/my bike on so that's a hugely good thing. It can be locked in place on the car plus the bikes can be locked onto the rack, too
YES, I would definitely say 'go for it!' it to anyone looking for an easy way to carry their bike - have used it in torrential rain & sunshine & love it always. Have even taken it along when there was no clear plan of going for a bike ride!

by:

Exactly what I needed. The straps that came with my bike rack are nowhere near as sturdy and grippy as these, so the bikes are held much more securely in place.

As usual, fast shipping and great service from etrailer.com.

Product has been working 100 still.

Great company to deal with

by:

This is our 2nd etrailer order (rubber straps for Thule bike carrier). In both cases, the order was promptly handled and delivered within less than two weeks. I will definitely use etrailer again!

I had read the reviews prior to the first order (a trailer hitch), and ordered based on the preponderance of the very positive remarks. Now, I have added my own!

by:

I've been jerry-rigging my bikes to my Thule trunk rack with sliced up old tubes for awhile. What a treat to find some place to get these replacement straps. Never thought it would be so difficult to find them. Not only did etrailer have them, they came instantly! Thank you etrailer. If you don't know these guys, get to know them!!

by:

I purchased the Thule Apex 4 bike rack used, but a few parts were missing. I readily found all the parts I needed, listed on etrailer's website. The ordering process was very easy and the parts arrived at my door in Florida within a few days. I recommend etrailer to anyone looking for competitively priced high quality products backed up by excellent customer service.

The one item I couldn't find and would love to obtain, is the Thule name lettering that is applied to the product and which has been partially scuffed off.

by:

They work! The cradle straps for our Thule bike rack had torn over many years of use. etrailer had the replacement straps at a reasonable price and shipped them to me in just a few days. We put them on our bike rack this evening, perfect fit, we are ready for tomorrow's excursion.

Thanks for getting these to us so quickly!

by:

Thule replacement straps have been perfect and held up well over the first year. Show no signs of wearing out anytime soon. Highly recommend to anyone looking to refresh their older bike rack

by:

The Thule cradle and stapes were both ordered at the same time. The order was easy to place, convenient to find on the internet and very fairly priced compared to other sites. The order has just arrived in "good condition". It was packaged safely and well padded. The box was marked with etrailer and easy to spot as out awaited parts. I have not installed these parts as of yet, but, they are it great and undamaged condition.

by:

The parts were exactly what we needed. E Trailer was awesome to work with. Also they helped me with the exact part I needed to make my Thule kayak rack fit my new rack on my newer van.
Yeah!!!!

  • Replacement Rubber Straps Recommendation for an Old Rhode Gear Bike Rack
We haver found in the past via customer submitted reviews that the Replacement Straps for Cradles on Thule Bike Racks # TH534 are a goo replacement for your older Rhode Gear bike rack. I recommend measuring your existing straps if they're still around to make sure these'll be a good fit. These straps measure 8-3/4" long and has a hole diameter of 1/2". If your straps have the same or similar enough measurements you should be fine.

  • Replacement Anti-Sway Cradle for Thule Raceway Pro Trunk Mount Bike Rack
The correct anti-sway cage for your Thule Raceway trunk mount rack is the Replacement Anti-Sway Cradle # TH8523486001. The part # 853-7758 you asked about is for other Thule trunk mount racks and isn't designed to work with the Raceway. If you need to replace the strap as well then you need part # 852-3006-001, but if you need more straps this is also available in a 4 pack as part # TH534.

  • Replacement Straps for a Yakima SwingDaddy Bike Rack
The Yakima SwingDaddy-specific straps are # 8890221 for three. The holes in these straps are 1/2 inch in diameter so you could really use any strap with 1/2 inch diameter holes. You could get a set of 4 Thule straps using # TH534 if you prefer. There is also a pair of Curt straps you could use, # C18007. Any of these 3 options would work since they all have about the same length and the holes are 1/2 inch in diameter.

  • Hole Diameter of Thule Replacement Straps for Cradles TH534
Bike rack parts such as rubber straps like Thule part # TH534 can sometimes be used interchangeably between different brands of bike racks. The Thule straps have holes that measure 7/16-inch. On their top side those holes have a rounded perimeter, to give something like a slight funnel shape, which gives that side of the strap a hole diameter closer to 1/2-inch. Rhode Gear was bought out by Yakima some years back and so there is limited availability of replacement parts for their racks....
