Video Transcript for Thule Hitch Bike Racks 753-3535 Review

Today we're going to review part number 753-35-35. This is the Thule Replacement Rubber Strap for the Thule Bike Racks that use the T3 Cradles. Now this strap is used to hold down your bike to the bike rack cradle. This rubber strap replaces a lost or damaged strapped on your Thule Bike Carrier that uses the T3 Cradles. You can see on this one end of the strap it does have a hard plastic attachment to it. Now the Bottle Bike Racks with the T3 Cradles are the Thule Ridgeline, The Roadway, The Revolver, and the Spare-Me Bike Racks.

This part in quantity is for one strap. If you notice it has the six holes right here, the round holes, and the measurement on those holes center to center is 1 inch. Total length, let's see if I can get you a total length on this from the very tip to the very tip. It's going to be right at 10-1/2 inches. The diameter of the smaller holes are 1/2-inch and this one big large on the end is about 1-1/2 inches. That should do it for the review on part number 753-35-35.

This is the Thule replacement Rubber Strap for Thule Bike Racks with the T3 Cradles.

SERVICE IS GREAT , Even though my rack is an older model I was glad to find replacement parts… only issue , I thought the prices were a little STEEP !

by:

It took some time to determine which were the right parts for my very old Thule bike rack, but we got it done with the help of Noah in customer service. The install was easy and these replacement parts worked great along with the originals. The reason for 4 star is the price of the straps is ridiculous at $[XX] each which is separate from the cradle at $[XX] each!

I ordered the replacement rubber straps for our Thule bike rack that is mounted on the back of our Jeep Liberty. My husband replaced the old worn straps with the new ones in no time at all and was extremely pleased with the replacement straps.

by:

I wanted to respond to thank you and your company for your service. The bike rack parts have been great for us. Here is a picture of how we use your products. I have built some custom
bike racks for the back of our trucks and we use the Thule saddles and straps to hold down the bikes

I was fortunate to find exact replacement hardware for my Hitch Style Bike Rack.
The old hardware needed replacement to hold the Bikes securely.

Your customer service was very helpful in helping me find the correct items.

Thank you so much!

by:

Fits perfectly which is amazing.

by:

I received the straps and the cradles quickly. They fit my Bell 3 carrier bike rack which I converted to a 2 carrier bike rack. They are difficult to screw on so I ended up spraying a little WD40 on the posts. I ended up with a blister but it was worth the end result. Thanks!!!

by:

Installed the spare parts today. Excellent results.
I had an old Bell Bike Rack with broken clips and replaced them with these. Perfect fit, a very nice upgrade. You definitely have to use soap to get them on the bar (unless you're a masochist).

by:

Exactly what I needed to replace some very hard to find replacement straps for my years old Thule bike rack. I’ve been looking for these for a long time. Shipping was fast and customer service followed through after my order. They fit perfectly and I will order again should the need arise.

by:

After several years usage I replaced three of the old rubber straps on my old Thule T2 bike carrier cradles. My only comment is too pricy.

by:

the product is exactly what I wanted, shipped quickly, I had searched around for these replacement straps and the only ones I could find came from Thule, exactly the same, and these are half the price. Again, I was impressed at how quickly they got the order out and to me.

Replaced the wore out straps on my old Bell bike rack. Like new.

by:

Exact replacement part. Perfect for need and specifications. So much so, since my Thule bike rack is discontinued (though in no way requires replacement), I ordered spare parts (end caps) and just placed an order for 6 additional straps. That should keep my rack in service for longer than I'm likely to be able to ride a bike.

I had forgotten about the reviews, but not about the parts and my Thule bike rack I see it every day. What I originally wrote in the reviews still applies in all ways a year later. The rack is like new because of the parts and compared to the newer racks that Ive seen, I think I have the superior product in terms of the design and solidity of materials and construction - it must weigh 40lbs. by itself. Thus, I was really happy to find the exact replacement parts I needed straps, caps and stop. Thanks for the follow-up. Nice touch.

by:

The straps were not an exact match to the ones on my old Thule, but I was told they were the only ones available and would work. They were very difficult to use (the holes are too small and the rubber too stiff) and I have given up and bought a new rack from another distributer.

by:

Replaced my inexpensive bike rack cradles with the Thule cradles and straps and am really happy. They are much stronger and easier to strap in the bike than the Velcro straps that came with the carrier. The rack is 1" tubing and it fits fine.

Great

This was the 1st time I ordered anything from etrailer.com. They offered the best price on both the product itself and the shipping. The website is easy to navigate and the product was delivered as agreed. I chose the least expensive shipping option and the product took about a week to arrive. The only thing to be aware of is that the tracking for this shipping option was pretty much non existent. But I'll take that any day for the rest of the service.

I have had the rack for maybe 10 years and love it. As for the straps I bought last year, they were easy to install and have performed as expected. The only issue I have is that they have already begun to crack pretty seriously. The original straps did not begin to show signs of cracking for several years. The new ones have not broken as of yet, and still work as intended, but I fear that they only have limited time before the cracks cause failure. From a consumer perspective, I certainly don’t mind replacing straps every couple of years considering the cost difference of replacing the rack, and I understand that straps are going to weather. I also realize that in mass manufacturing there will be occasional one offs that underperform and it may just be my turn. But the perception I have right now is that I received an inferior product. My inclination would be that next time I would consider alternatives. Not that I wouldn’t still consider buying them from your company - but instead of being satisfied and automatically repurchasing from you, I am now inclined to look around. I would also have to be honest with anyone who asked my recommendation.Hope this is helpful

I put 2 of these and 2 cradles (#753-5829) on an old Graber bike rack. Make sure the diameters of the cradle and the rack arm match (in this case 1 inch), and that the cradle is perpendicular to the arm. It was easier and a cheaper than getting a new rack. These parts outclass the rack. etrailer was great too.

It takes more than a year for these type of parts to wear out.

by:

I was very happy to find these rubber straps to replace the ones that were breaking over time on our bike carrier. They are exactly what we needed to secure our bikes.

by:

Straps were shipped to my son in Maryland and delivered promptly. I received them last weekend with my daughter who had been visiting in MD. We could not remove the screw that anchors the end of the bar, so my local bike repair shop was able to help. I now wish I had ordered two extra straps as my rack is 9 years old and the others will probably need to be replaced. However, I can repeat the same process next time.

Products are working well. Thanks for the follow up.

Ordered from etrailer before. Always a winner

by:

As advertised. Fit my old Thule rack like the original ones. Fast service and shipping along with easy to navigate website.

by:

We bought some replacement rubber straps for a THULE bike rack and a THULE cable lock. The rubber straps had deteriorated in the sun, and the original lock cable never had a retraction spring, so it got damaged because it wasn't stowed properly. The new straps were a bit of a pain to install - but this was because of the rack’s anti theft features and rusty fasteners. The cable was easy to install, and the addition of a retraction spring was very welcomed. All is well, and the parts are doing what they’re supposed to do. I'm very happy eTrailer carried these parts - I'm not sure I could have easily gotten them from the place we bought the rack.

by:

My third time ordering these replacements. Always quick service. Received in just a few days.

by:

All the original rubber straps on my Thule Expressway 995 bike rack broke or were about to break. Plus they always slid downhill towards the front of the vehicle while driving. Those parts unfortunately are no longer made and have been replaced by the 753-3535 and 8535829 straps and cradles. I ordered these parts and they came in a timely manner. I had to drill out the pop rivet for the locking cable on the rack (no big deal - high security!) and everything came apart easy. I had to use a paper towel with a little bit of dish detergent and rub it on the rack pipes as the new parts fit very tight - watch the video on this. However, since they are tight, the bikes no longer move around while driving - Hooray! Put a pop rivet back in for theft prevention, at least the dirt bag would need more than a Phillips screwdriver to get the locking cable off. Overall a great product & service.
