Hey everybody, welcome to etrailer.com. I'm Bobby, and today we're taking a look at the replacement Two Inch Hitch Adapter for Thule's Apex Helium or EasyFold Bike Carrier. So, this is an excellent way of taking our inch and a quarter shank in bringing up to our two inch hitches. That way we can start utilizing our hitch adapters that we might have on our vehicles at home. So if you do have yourself, your, any of your Thule bike carriers that you might have and you're needing a way of actually converting it this is a great way to do it. So maybe we've misplaced ours damaged ours, whatever the reason might be.
This is actually gonna allow us to take our shank and upgrade it, that way we can use it for all our other hitches. So really, really simple idea we have here. We have our adapter just like so, the one thing I'll say about this, all of our hardware and our tools to utilize it are actually sold separately as well. So if you don't find yourself keeping your older hardware there are gonna be these parts available here at etrailer.com. And that way we actually can start getting this attached to our carrier.
So really straightforward though with it, all we simply do, take our adapter like so. We're gonna have our open hole here. And then our two mounting screws. We need to find that here on our shank, here today I have my easy fold just to give us an example. And all I simply do, take it on my shank here, line it up, find those holes and start threading them in.
You are also gonna need yourself an M5 Hex Wrench that is also available here at etrailer.com. If for some reason you don't have one at home. And then we simply need to start securing this. So, I like to get one started that way I know I'm aligned, bring my other one in, cinch it up and start tightening down. With our sleeve attached I can now take it and insert it in my two inch hitch.
And there I'm on the easy fold, as I said. So I can push in that latch and walk it up until it finds its hole. Well, that's gonna allow us to use our two inch hitch here today on our vehicle, which is great. So again, if you find yourself misplacing this, or for some reason is damaged, hopefully we still have the hardware needed from our earlier purchase. But again, we do have the tools to make sure that we can get this installed here today on any of our bike carriers. Just a nice way of actually allowing yourself to utilize it on your two inch hitches. Just be sure to order two of the proper bolts available from etrailer you'll need to bolt the adapter to the bike rack.
Adapter works as advertised. Dinged one star due to the overpriced fasteners which are not included and I sourced elsewhere at a much lower price. Shipping time was just ok.
This product does not fit the Thule Helium. The holes are more than a half inch off in either direction. Looking at the Thule website I found it’s a completely different part. Sorry to have wasted my time with e-trailer

I purchased this item because my Thule Bike Rack would only fit a 1.25" hitch. Was able to attach it with no problem, and if filled the 2" hitch on my vehicle.
This adaptor helped me with my new car , I couldn’t find them any where els .i got so happy that etrailer had them and thank you for your through video instructions.
Great part to fix my Thule xt pro 1 1/4” hitch. Just did a tap and tie whole into the hitch frame and screwed it in. Perfect fit.

The bolts that you need are sold separately from the adapter. We do have them available as part # 852-3136-001. You may also need the Allen wrench part # 853-0930 if you do not have it on hand.
Exactly fit part for my Thule rack so that I can use it in 2" hitch receivers. The item was missing from a rack I purchased on another online retailer, but no worries as etrailer.com saved the day for me! Now I have a perfectly functional Thule rack!

I switched my Thule Helium Carrier from a 1 1/4" hitch to a 2" and could not figure out how to do it and as always the very helpful folks at etrailer came to the rescue.
Works like a charm, rock solid.
Product was shipped quickly. I had thought it would come with the screws to install it, that was my bad for not noticing it did not come with the screws.
I have found screws that are a little long, we will grind them down so we can put the 2" adapter on to the stinger of my Thule Helium 3 Bike hitch.
This product is useless without the screws, which are a non-standard size and head shape. This simple order has become a major headache as I drive from hardware store to hardware store, looking for $0.50 in parts that should have been in the package.

Thank you for your review! If you note in the description of the product, parts # 852-3136-001, the mounting screw, and part # 853-0930, the hex tool, are listed as separate parts that can be sourced on our website. I hope this helps.

It was the incorrect adapter for the Thule bike rack that I have.
Product works great. Allowed me to attach my bike carrier with my recently purchased hitch.

The product is very well made. I only wish that there were the two screws to attach this to my existing bike carrier. I understand why they did not come with it since this is a replacement part, but I lost the original part with the two screws.
Warning: this “adapter” does not come with the 2 screws needed to attach which makes it useless. I spent $20 on rush shipping to get this in advance of bike trip which ended up being a waste since I wasn’t able to use it. Went to 3 local hardware stores and they do not sell the screws which Thule describes as M8x30.

This Replacement 2 inch Hitch Adapter for Thule Helium Aero and EasyFold Bike Carriers part # TH8523185001 require 2 replacement cap screws part # 852-3136-001 to attach. You may also need the hex tool # 853-0930 to tighten.

There are several different models of the Thule Helium bike rack. This adapter works for the Helium Aero and Helium Pro bike rack models. The other adapter, part # TH72NH works for the Thule Helium model 903900 or the Helium Platform XT model 904011.
