Video Transcript for Curt Bike Racks Cradle Straps Replacement Review

Hi everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we're gonna be taking a look at the replacement straps for your CURT bike racks right here at etrailer. So we've had this bike rack down here for a good amount of time. This is the CURT premium four bike hanging rack and notice how we have these types of straps on it, so they've been great for getting that nice fit over our bike's frame, helping secure everything but over time you may lose, damage or misplace your straps. What do you do then Will you get replacement straps just like these. So you're gonna get a set of two straps.

So if have multiple let's say an entire cradle set that needs to be replaced that usually needs 1, 2, 3 straps. So just keep that in mind. We have to may have to get more. So let's take a look at our old straps. So notice how, as I pull on the strap you can see where it's been used.

We have some little cracks in the rubber, still definitely a good strap but why not replace it while we can. So to compare this with the new straps it's an exact replacement but definitely feel stronger and Steadier, we have a lot more grip here, a lot more tension. So to replace it, we just pull the old ones out of their tabs, pop the new ones right into the tab where we want them to be, and just like that, we're ready to put our bikes on. It's a very simple process to replace your straps. If you did lose your straps go ahead and pick up some new ones.

If you think your old straps are getting close to their end of use, go ahead it some to replace them. Another thing about this is that, you can switch your straps around as time goes on kind of like how you rotate your tires, you can rotate your straps if you use this side often, switch it with the furthest point, and that way you don't have to replace them as often. And that would look right here at our replacement strap for your car bike racks to check out the compatible bike racks right here on the product page here at etrailer, hopefully this helped you out with finding the right part for your needs..

I needed replacement straps for a bike rack, and this was the only place I could find them online. Great service and follow-up emails. Very pleased, would recommend!

by:

They were just what I needed and they worked out perfect.

They are working out great

by:

Always good to have a few spares. We have done over 10K miles in 3 months and the straps are sturdy and the bikes safe!

by:

These work great to secure each of 5 bikes to the Curt Bike Rack. I got extras as back up and haven't had to use them yet.

by:

Loved the straps & bike rack, fit perfectly on make and model of my vehicle. Worked like I had imagined!

by:

I bought these straps to replace worn out straps on an old Rhode Gear bike rack, since the Rhode Gear parts are no longer available. Not a perfect fit, but they work! Excellent quality part. Excellent service.

Still performing well after one year.

by:

These straps work perfectly on my 20+ year-old Rhodegear, hitch-mount, bicycle carrier. The make of these straps appear superior to the original straps which have cracked over the years. The straps arrived timely for my New Year Days' bike ride. Many thanks to etrailer for the quick shipment.

by:

I needed a longer strap to replace the one on my Hollywood rack; it was too short to secure my wider framed, fat tire bike. This strap did the trick! It was compatible with the Hollywood rack and holds the bike in place as needed. One of those little hacks maybe others can take advantage of.

by:

Nice to have extras just in case. I recommend getting some of these extra straps for the Curt bike rack since it never hurts to secure the bikes a little more with extra straps. The CUrt rack offers all types of ways to secure your bike with these straps--many more options than the ones shown in the directions and with the amount of straps they provide with the rack. I use these extra straps to make sure those bikes are really secure. Makes for lots of peace of mind, especially when driving those crazy backroads to get to trailheads.

by:

Our old 2013 Allen Sports double bike rack (picked up at a thrift store for 5 bucks) had dry-rotted straps, and these worked beautifully as replacements. I bought 6, so we'd have a spare set in a pinch.

by:

My Curt rack seemed to be missing a few of these and now its not! Identical to what was on it, relieved to have a full set now, and will order a few more for extras!

by:

Perfect replacements for the original straps on our CURT Premium Hitch-Mounted Bike Rack #18065.

by:

I use these straps on not only my bike rack but a superb replacement on anything that uses these types. Extra long for multiple use! Highly recommend them!

by:

Great service and great material for mounting bikes on my rack!!

by:

I was really happy it came well packaged and came in a very reasonable going standard mailing. I grew up in St. Louis what would I expect from people from the Show Me State no less than good service not like a lot places I have lived in.

by:

Great straps! Locks in my bikes nice and tight

by:

Another excellent experience ordering from etrailer.com. The customer service is personalized and always willing to help/give updates on product. Thanks!!!!!

by:

Much better than the originals, straps are not so rigid and easier to tie down the bikes in a secure manner.

by:

Jon was very prompt with a suggestion which I used. Order was delivered timely.

Thanks
Mik

by:

Carol, I am both happy and pleased with the straps. They arrived when you said they would and the straps themselves look very sturdy. I will remember your company for other needs.

by:

These straps replaced lost straps on my Saris bike porter. Worked perfectly.

  • Can Straps on Rola NV2 Hitch Mounted 2 Bike Rack Be Replaced
Thanks for reaching out! The Rola NV2 Hitch Mounted 2 Bike Rack (part 59508) was discontinued a number of years ago and while we used to carry replacement cradles and straps as part 59514, those are no longer available as well but I may still have a solution for you. For your application I recommend checking out the Replacement Straps for Cradles on Curt Standard and Premium Bike Racks # C18007 which looks to still have the same basic design as the straps only. I have a solution for you, but the handle that sits in the middle of the Curt Clamp On3- Bike Rack # C18013 is not an available replacement part. The only available replacement parts currently available for this rack are the Replacement Straps for Cradles on Curt Standard and Premium Bike Racks # C18007. For this reason you would need to replace the entire bike rack with a new one. If you're missing a different part and I'm misunderstanding what you're looking for, please let me know and...

  • Replacement Straps for a Yakima SwingDaddy Bike Rack
The Yakima SwingDaddy-specific straps are # 8890221 for three. The holes in these straps are 1/2 inch in diameter so you could really use any strap with 1/2 inch diameter holes. You could get a set of 4 Thule straps using # TH534 if you prefer. There is also a pair of Curt straps you could use, # C18007. Any of these 3 options would work since they all have about the same length and the holes are 1/2 inch in diameter.

You are correct that the Softride straps were discontinued. The Replacement Rubber Strap for Wheel Hoop on Swagman XTC Series Bike Carriers # P308 you were looking at has a hole diameter of 1/2" and is 12" long compared to the 9-13/16" length of the Softride straps. The 1/2" diameter is as close as we have to the 3/8" diameter of the Softride straps. I have included some options below that have the 1/2" diameter and are different lengths.
