How To Replace Rubber Strap For Cradle On Thule T3 Bike Carrier

Question:

OK, I can easily remove the cradle bodies on the side that does not contain the locking cable. However, the side I need to remove has a pop rivet about 3/4 of an inch after the screw holding the end cap in place. I see no reason that I cannot simply drill it out and it seems to serve no useful purpose that I can see. Am I mistaken? Thule 995 T3 Strap Assembly

It sounds like you are wanting to replace the strap on your T3 bike. If the # 753-3535 strap is all you need to replace you do not have to remove the cradle. One of the Experts I work with made a video that shows how to replace just the strap on your carrier. I have attached a link to the video you can check out.

If you need to replace the # 853-5829 cradle on your carrier, then yes you will need to drill out the rivet holding the cap in place. You will want to replace the rivet with a screw. Thule has actually done that for the bike racks produced later.
