Today we're going to review part number KCMB12D. This is the Kodiak replacement mounting bracket for the Kodiak disc brake caliper. It has a dacromet finish and is designed for fifty-two hundred pound to six thousand pound axles. This caliper mounting bracket is designed for use with disc brake assemblies that feature either either over-the-hub rotors or machined hub-and-rotor assemblies. It is made of a heavy-duty ductile iron construction. The dacromet plating on this provides superior corrosion resistance for fresh water or salt water use, and it does have a three hundred to four hundred hour salt spray rating on it. The embossed bolt holes, right up here at the top, they provide extra thread contact for the caliper guide bolts, give you a tight, secure connection between the bracket and the caliper.
The side support ensures that the load is carried by the whole bracket, not just the bolts at the top. It gives you stiffeners to reduce vibration when you brake. It is a universal design, so it can be either used on the left-hand or the right-hand side. The part is made in the USA. The application is for calipers on disc brakes with over-the-hub rotors or one piece hub-and-rotor assemblies, designed to fit axles of fifty-two hundred pounds to six thousand pounds. The rotor diameter that fits on this is a twelve inch rotor diameter, and the brake flange configuration, right here, this is the bolt pattern that will go onto your axle, this is a five-bolt brake flange configuration. I use my boat trailer in salt water and I had the Titan 225 calipers, which didn't last long and cannot be rebuilt. I replaced with Kodiak 225 Calipers that can be rebuilt. However, The Caliper mounting brackets are not compatible so I replaced them with the Kodiak brackets. Now for the Salt Water test.

Stainless steel is the best in terms of corrosion resistance but Dacromet does a great job as well. If you will be in saltwater I would highly recommend stainless.

They both worked on 3500lb axles but the 225 was also able to be used on larger axles up to 6000lbs. You can replace your 204 calipers with the 225 using mounting bracket # KCMB10RD if you have 3500lb axles, or # KCMB12D if you have 5200-6000lb axles.
