Video Transcript for Review of Go Power RV Solar Panels - 34244034

Today we're going to take a look at the adjustable mount kit for the Go Power Rigid Solar Panels. These adjustable mounts allow you to angle your solar panel for maximum sun exposure. They will help increase performance up to 40% during the winter months when the sun is lower in the sky. These brackets are compatible with the Go Power Overlander, the Retreat, the Weekender, the Solar Elite and the Solar Extreme kits. They are made of a marine grade aluminum construction, which will protect against rusting corrosion. These spreader arms will have three tilt positions. Just to show you how that operates, I haven't put these together yet just to show you.

Basically what'll happen is this mounting foot right here, using these installation bolts, will attach it to the top of your vehicle. This bracket up here will mount to the top of your solar panel. Then these brackets right down here is what'll mount to the bottom of your solar panel.Basically what'll happen is if you bolt these two spreader arms together at the lowest holes, right here, put two bolts through there, that'll give you about a 45 degree angle to your solar panel. If you go up and bolt it to these next two holes, that would give you about a 60 degree. Then if you go all the way up to the top two holes, that'd give you about a 75 degree.

You just attach it to where you need it for your application. These do detach when they're not in use. It's a custom installation. Comes with all the included hardware to install it. As I mentioned before, these mounting brackets right here is what'll mount to the panel's existing brackets at the bottom of the solar panel. Then on the spreader arms, again this bracket, using this hardware, will attach to the top of your vehicle.

This bracket to the top of your solar panel. The kit will include everything shown here on the table. It includes the four arms, the eight mounting feet, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, all the mounting hardware to install it, nice set of detail instructions. That should do it for the review on the adjustable mount kit for the Go Power Rigid Solar Panels.

After paying a pretty penny for these, I expected perfection. These are far from it. There is only one contact point for the the mounting feet to attach to the roof rafters. Mistake number one. They shift around when I'm trying to adjust the tilting mechanism. I cant tighten them down anymore without overtightening them. They need 2 points of contact! The second issue is, mounting feet L bracket is too short. When you attach the extension pieces to the feet, there is no clearance room to the bottom of the bracket. You can't properly seal the bracket with dicor. It gets everyyyyyywhere. If it was like 1/4"-1/2" higher it would be better. Or better yet round the ends of the tilting extensions.

  • Do L-Brackets on Roof Need to be Replaced to Install Go Power Adjustable Mount Kit 34244034
Yes, when installing the Adjustable Mount Kit # 34244034 that allows you to tilt the Go Power 100 Watt Solar Panels on your trailer, the existing L-brackets on the roof will need to be replaced with the L-brackets included with the kit. Keep in mind you will only have to do this during the initial installation and the new brackets will simply install where the existing/old ones were on the roof. Tilting the solar panels really does provide a significant boost in performance. Simply tilting...

  • Can I Expand my Solar system on my Travel Trailer?
Yes it is very possible to expand the solar capabilities of your system with the Go Power Overlander Expansion Kit - 190 Watt Solar Panel part # 34282182 as long as your solar controller is rated for the input. With your 160 watt panels you get about 8.68 amp hours from it with a 190 you will get about 10.3 amp hours for a total of both panels at about 18.98 amp hours. Look on your solar controller and as long as it is rated for 20 amps or higher it will work out perfectly for you.

  • Can Go Power Solar Elite System be Expanded & Are Lithium Batteries Worth It
There's a lot here, so let's go ahead and take these one by one, yes you can still use a plug-in portable solar kit, and as far as lithium batteries, their cost can be justified, but it's hard to give a blanket statement about worth. Their value comes from the fact that you get more life out of them per use, and they last longer. For example, let's take the Go Power AGM RV Battery - 100 Amp Hour # 34276285 vs. the Go Power Lithium RV Battery - 100 Amp Hour # 34282738. The AGM battery can...

  • How Many Adjustable Mount Kits Are Needed for a 4 Panel Solar Charging System
The Go Power Adjustable Mount Kit # 34244034 replaces a single solar panel's existing brackets. If you are installing 4 solar panels, you need 4 mount kits (one per solar panel). Depending on how you install the arms, you have the ability to angle each panel to face one of two directions. So, if the lift arms are installed on the left side, your panel will face to the right and if you instead install them on the right side, your panel will face to the left. For a compatible 4-panel solar...
