go power cable entry plate

If your RV does not have a refrigerator vent or you need another entry option for your solar cables, the Go Power cable entry plate is a perfect solution. The plate makes it easier to connect your cables with pre-installed MC4 connectors and lets you choose a convenient entry point on your RV. Additionally, the covered housing helps protect your wiring while preventing leaks by covering and sealing the install area.

Plate Features

mc4 connection

The MC4 connectors provide a quick way to attach the solar cables on the outside of your rig to your internal wiring. Inside the plate, the jam-nut is thread-locked to resist vibrations and protect the connections during travel. Additionally, the plate has channels on its underside that guide adhesive sealant during the mounting process to ensure a proper waterproof seal.

How It Installs

go power cable entry plate installed

This cable entry plate does not come pre-wired for your internal RV connections. Typically, this wiring will connect to your solar controller. Use 10 AWG to 6 AWG wire for the internal wiring. The ideal location of the plate, as well as your solar panels and solar controller, is near the battery compartment. The total cable length should not exceed 25 feet. Using a drill, install the cable entry plate to your RV roof using 6 pan-head (#10 or #12, not included) screws.

go power cable entry plate sealant

Use a sealant that suits the material of your RV's exterior. If you have to attach the plate's cables to your internal wiring, you need compatible, heat shrinkable butt splices (10 AWG to 6 AWG wiring). Finally, as an additional safety measure, connect a 30-amp in-line fuse (not included) to the positive wire near the battery.

Installed on enclosed trailer. One tip - if you are pulling wire through - use a little oil, I used a little air tool oil in my fingers as I pulled them and made life much better.

by:

Excellent product, performs as expected.

by: 06/02/2021

These are a great way to cover the access hole in the roof and to disconnect the solar panels for any services or removal.

  • Replacement Nut Parts for Connecting MC4 Cables
From what you are describing it sounds like you are talking about either the nuts on the entry plate or the connectors on the cables. We have the Go Power Solar Cable Entry Plate for MC4 Cables # 34273840 for the entry plate and the Redarc MC4 Connector Kit for Solar Panels # RED98VR (contains 1 male and 1 female) for the connectors that are on the cables that connect to the plate. We also have some kits like the Go Power Solar Cable Entry Plate with Red and Black MC4 Cables # 34276245...

  • Is The Go Power Entry Plate Capable Of Supporting Three 200 Watt Panels?
The Entry Plate # 34273840 that came with your Solar Package # 34282181 is capable of supporting up to the same 30 amps as your solar controller. Each of the 200 amp panels for the Expansion # 34282182 is rated at 9.57 amps so you will be able to add the 2 panels.

The best solution to use the Go Power Overlander Solar Charging System with Digital Solar Controller - 200 Watt Solar Panel part # 34282181 on a 2020 Keystone Cougar Half-Ton is by replacing the Zamp SAE connection with a Go Power one, the Go Power Solar Cable Entry Plate for MC4 Cables part # 34273840. You'll also need the LaSalle Bristol XTRM Universal Self-Leveling Sealant part # 34427034145-1 to reseal the roof.

  • Does The 2018 Forest River Sunseeker Class C RV Come With Solar Panel Input On Roof?
Based on the brochure for your 2018 Forest River Sunseeker it appears your RV only comes with a connector on the side of the RV for a portable panel from Zamp. You can still check your roof to verify if you have a Entry Plate # 34273840 as I have seen occasions where parts installed on an RV do not always match the information in the brochure. I recommend installing the Go Power Overlander Solar Charging System with Digital Solar Controller # GP39MR as a starting point for adding solar....

  • Will Go Power Overlander Expansion Kit Work with Thor Motorhome OEM Solar Panel Kit
If your Thor Motorhome has a cable entry plate like part # 34273840 on the roof then yes, you can attach the Go Power Overlander Expansion Kit # 34282182 to it. You'll also need a controller like the PWM Solar Charge Controller # 34280503 so you can monitor and adjust the solar panel settings. All of the other wiring should be present to get things installed but sometimes motorhome manufacturers won't run everything so you'll need to check what you have to ensure you have at least the...

  • Can Larger Gauge Wire be Used from the Go Power Solar Cable Entry Plate to the Controller
You could use larger MC4 cable gauge wire from the Go Power Solar Cable Entry Plate # 34273840 to your controller but it wouldn't benefit you very much unless you used larger gauge wire from the solar panel to the entry plate. Larger gauge wire just ensures that enough power is getting from the power source to the part that needs powering but if the initial gauge wire is 10 then going larger further back wouldn't do anything for you. I recommend using one of the entry plates that comes...

  • What Type of Connection Does Go Power Solar Cable Entry Plate # 34273840 Require
The Go Power Solar Cable Entry Plate # 34273840 is designed to connect to MC4 cable connectors like the part # 34276216 and because of that doesn't have a max gauge. The # 34276216 I referenced is 10 gauge but if you have 6 gauge wire with MC4 connectors it will work great with this.

  • Solar Panels Needed To Run an Everchill Mini Refrigerator Off Solar Power
There are many variables that make it difficult to give you an exact answer but I can help you with the information you need to determine what you may need. First the Everchill RV Mini Refrigerator w/ Freezer # 324-000110 runs at 0.8 amps of 115 volt power which is equal to 92 watts of power. You will need to connect the refrigerator to a power inverter like the Go Power Industrial Pure Sine Wave Inverter # 34282690 since the solar power will need to be converted and stored in a 12 Volt...

  • What Size Wire Should Be Used With the Go Power Solar Entry Cable Plate?
I wouldn't go larger than 10 AWG with the Go Power Solar Cable Entry Plate for MC4 Cables # 34273840. The larger wire will just make sure that you are getting enough power to your entry plate from the solar panel. I recommend going with an option that already has the power wires hooked up like # 34276245 for 7', # 34273841REVA for 10', or # 34273843REVA for 25'.
