Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this 25 foot long replacement strap with the hook and the safety latch for the Dutton-Lainson winches. This does have a 3,700 pound working load limit. Now this strap here will replace the strap on Dutton-Lainson windshields up to 3,700 pound capacity. You can see it as a nice bright yellow color for visibility.
And on the end right here they do include this forged steel snap hook with the built-in keeper. Now the tensile strength on this hook is 15,000 pounds. The working load limit on it is 3000 pounds and that is stamped right on the hook itself. The keeper right here on this will help prevent the hook from disconnecting. So once you hook this and this will close it'll keep you from coming disconnected.
The dimension on this we mention is 25 foot long. The width, you put a ruler on it you can see the width on this is right at three inches wide. On the strap itself, the brake strength is a thousand pounds, and the working load limit is 3,700 pounds. And this is for a quantity of one replacement strap. But that should do it for the review on this 25 foot long replacement strap with the hook and the safety latch for the Dutton-Lainson winches..

Strap material appears to be of average quality. Stitching appears just adequate but certainly not robust.
Hook material appears just adequate but certainly not robust. Material is not rust resistant.
Overall: this item should perform adequately but not robustly and its durability will be questioned.

I bought this for a Dutton Lainson 3200lb hand winch as it is advertised to be rated for a 3700lb load limit and is supposed to be paired with this winch. The strap itself has a tag on it that states load limit 3700lb, so far so good. The hook, however, is rated for a 1 ton weight load limit. Which means that I just spent $XX on a 2000lb rated assembly. I deliberately chose the more expensive Dutton Lainson product as I liked the quality and design of the winch and the rated load limit -apparently this intelligent design does not apply to their straps. I cut the existing hook off and replaced with an adequately rated hook with a lynch pin. Really disappointed to pay $XX for a strap and then have to provide my own hook.

Not so good, the strap rolls over as i winch the boat onto the trailer. Sometimes the strap william between the winch spool and the strap coils. this is why i replaced the cable on my winch to begun with.

I reached out to Dutton Lainson about the WLL of the hook. The hook itself has been tested to 15,000 pounds however the WLL or working load limit is set at 3,000 pounds. Our product page will be updated shortly.
