Hi everyone. Aiden here at the Etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at this Fulton single speed winch. So this is gonna be a little bit more of a basic winch. It's very smooth to operate though, whether you're tightening it or we need to flip it into the loosening position. That switch between the two modes is very simple to do doesn't take much force, very smooth.

And as I'm operating it, (winch rattles) I've got a lot of room to move on the handle. (winch rattles) It's easy to get nice and tight, and I'm not worried about it going anywhere. All of those individual teeth grabbing onto the gear are very solid and very smooth. The arm on the handle is eight inches long and the handle itself swivels. So, whenever we're operating it, you got tons of room to travel, and one full rotation gets it quite a bit tighter or looser.

(winch rattles) The hook on the end of the strap comes with a nice snap to it, to keep it locked in. And then the strap itself is gonna be two inches wide and 20 feet long. It's got good reinforced stitching, and feels like a pretty solid strap throughout. Getting it hooked up is really simple too. All we gotta do is just Loop it in place.

It'll hold itself there, and then we can tighten up the winch so long as the strap isn't twisted like I have it here (winch rattles) You have a 1500 pound capacity with this winch and the strap. And then the whole construction overall is going to be carbon steel with this black finish over the top. The black finish helps it blend into the trailer quite a bit, but it also helps with corrosion resistance since it will be around water quite a bit. So this design is a lot more open. All of the moving parts are pretty exposed.

Fulton makes a version of this that actually comes with a cover over top of all this which can give it a cleaner look but it also helps protect these moving parts from any debris when we're going down the road. Just keeping them a little bit more covered up. But having this open is nice. If we ever did need to maybe do some repairs swap out a strap or change out our mounting hardware because everything's very easy to get to in here. Speaking of the mounting hardware, it isn't included but it's very easy to access and once we do get it, it's a bolt on installation. So let's check out that process now. For our installation, we need to remove the winch first. If yours is broken or already removed, you can skip ahead and just watch for the new one being put on. And if you're only replacing the strap we do have strap replacements so you don't need to replace the whole assembly but we're gonna get ours undone by flipping it (winch rattles) into the loosening position. Unhook the hook from our boat. We're gonna just tighten it up, so I don't have as much excess strap laying around and grab my socket and undo these nuts on the bottom. (power tool zapping) And with the last one removed this should just lift straight off without mounting plate and it can mount up the new one. Taking the new winch we've got a couple of different mounting holes. At the very bottom we're gonna be utilizing the long slotted hole, and the two shorter slotted holes at the top. You will need to provide your own mounting hardware though so setting it down into place. Luckily everything's very open. I'm just gonna drop down our two bolts that we provided through the top two holes. First you can see there's a bit of room side to side to kind of maneuver them. And then for the rearmost hole that one's maybe a little trickier to get to but we can sneak in from underneath the strap. Maybe could help to maybe get a pair of needle nose pliers and hold the bolt head to drop it in. And in the end, I opted to grab that pair of needle nose pliers and just guide that bolt in a little bit better that way, just enough so that those threads pop through the bottom and we can secure it underneath with our nut, and lock washer that we grabbed from our toolbox. Now the bolt heads on the front two bolts here are actually held in place by this lip on our winch. So we just need the socket underneath (power tool rattling) to tighten it down. (power tool rattling) And then for the rear one there's enough space to pass our wrench through the back hold onto the head of the bolt and then secure underneath the same way. (power tool rattling) Then we need to get our handle attached by removing the loosely installed nut on the side, lining up the slotted hole with the threaded stud right there, and tightening this back down over top of that to hold it in place. (power tool rattling) And then this will give us room to move that handle. We've got it in the position right now to loosen it up. (winch rattling) Bring That strap out to our mounting location hook it in, flip it back, and tighten it up. (winch rattling) And that'll do it for our look at this Fulton single speed winch. Overall, it's a very easy install process. The a lot of holes that let it adapt to different mounting points, and even though you have to provide your own hardware it's pretty simple to get it installed. Thanks for watching.
