Video Transcript for Review of Dutton-Lainson Quick Connect DC Plugs - DL24085

Today we'll be taking a quick look at the Dutton Lainson Electric Quick Connect for DC Strong Arm SA Series and TW9000 Electric Winches. These connectors can really be used for just about any kind of quick connect application that you might want to use them for. They are designed to work with a six gauge wire. That wire does not come with it, so you will have to pick some wire up on your own. So basically we'll get our two connectors for either end of that wire and then our four tips to connect to the wire itself. These need to be soldered in place to make a good electrical connection and then those little tips will clip into that connector and hold them securely in place. You just want to make a note of which side goes where, there will be a little embossed negative sign for the negative terminal and then a plus for the positive terminal.

So our wires fit in there, hold securely, and then if you ever need to remove those wires, you can pry down on the connectors on the other side and that will release the tips. Our connectors measure about two inches long by about just under an inch and a half wide, and then about half an inch thick. You'll have two mounting holes there, if you want to permanently mount those. The distance between those mounting holes, center to center is about three quarters of an inch, and the diameter is about an eighth inch for those mounting holes there. Our tips again work with a six gauge wire and overall measure about an inch and an eighth long. This is going to make that easy, quick connection between your trailer and your wiring or your winch and the wiring on your truck, or the wiring and your truck and your trailer or really any application that you might want to use these for.And that's going to do it for our look at the Dutton Lainson Electric Quick Connect.

I was having to wrap all of the power cord up under my truck on the bumper frame just to get it out of the way when I wasn’t towing my boat,so I ordered a new set of electrical connectors and made a removable tail end that I roll up and keep in my truck.

Great product & very adaptable. I used it for a cable extension on a remote battery connection

by:

i needed these for a winch to connect it in the front or back of my mud truck and all i did is solder the end of the wire to the terminal and it was the best a simplest way for the set up i needed it for.

thanks for caring about this little purchase. im going to be back i the future because i have a double axel trailer that needs a make over to haul my mud truck and anything else i put on it.

thanks again Reed Peterson

This product worked excellent for what we were wanting to do. We actually used this on a motorcycle with a very difficult to access battery to install a set of quick connect jumper cables. We could not have been happier with the results.

  • Can Quick Disconnects be Used to Easily Connect to Battery of Trailer
You could use a set of quick disconnects like part # DL24085 to make disconnecting from your trailer battery easy. You would just wire the power and ground to each of the terminals and then it would be good as-is.

  • Using Dutton-Lainson Quick Disconnect to Wire Hose Reel Motor
6 gauge wire can handle up to 55 amps, so the wire and the # DL24085 quick disconnect you're planning on using should work very well for you. The connector is designed for use with 6 gauge wire, so the wire and quick disconnect will be compatible with the power draw of your motor. I've linked to a product description video for the quick disconnect.

  • What Size Wire is Recommended for Use in the Electrical Quick Connect for Electric Winches
Normally 6 gauge wire is used for winch wiring applications. If your application does not require the high amperage draw that a winch requires then you could use 8 gauge wire in the connector tips. Any smaller wire than that would most likely not stay in the tips too well after soldering.

  • Can Electrical Quick Connect Be Permanently Mounted
The holes that are on the Electrical Quick Connect, part # DL24085, can be used for mounting. You would need to make certain that the polarity of the wires you are using are lined up correctly and also need to make sure the hardware you use is the correct size so that you do not damage the connector when mounting.

  • Will A 7-Way Carry Enough Power To Operate a 21 Amp Draw Electric Winch On a Boat Trailer?
With your winch having a high amp draw and constant use I recommend installing a dedicated Quick Connect Harness # DL24151. This is an 8 gauge wire which will be safe to use with your 21 amp draw and will not risk damage to your factory 7-way which uses a much smaller 10 or 12 gauge wire which wasn't designed for constant high draw. We do have the Quick Connect # DL24085 which you can attach to your boat trailer winch so you can easily connect and remove the power when needed.

  • Is There a Harness That Goes Between Truck and Trailer When Using Dutton-Lainson Electric Winch
In regards to the Dutton-Lainson StrongArm Electric Winch part # DL25215, the winch wiring harness is designed to attach to a vehicle battery and then run from the front back to the bumper so you can attach to the winch on the trailer when needed. There will be extra wire that will be simply coiled up and stored on the truck while not in use. If you wanted to cut the wire at the bumper you could then make a quick-connect system between the truck and trailer using the extra wire and Dutton-Lainson...

  • How to Release Quick Connect Electrical Connections
Quick connects like the Dutton-Lainson Electrical Quick Connects # DL24086 that you referenced do not have a release latch built into them. Basically you just slide them apart. They can sometimes be difficult to get apart, but if you wiggle them while pulling on them they will release.

  • Does the Dutton-Lainson Quick Disconnect Winch Harness # DL24151 Include Both Male and Female Ends
The Quick Disconnect Wiring Harness you mention, part # DL24151 is designed to plug directly into the winch, as shown in the photo I produced for you. According to the instructions, the wiring harness is meant to be unplugged and stowed in the tow vehicle when not in use. If you wanted to construct a quick disconnect jumper, you could do so by using part # DL24085 and the appropriate length of 8 gauge wire. The plugs would be installed on both ends of your jumper, which could be used to...

  • Recommended Electric Boat Winch For 4000lb Fiberglass Boat
The Dutton-Lainson StrongArm Electric Winch - Marine - 9,000 lbs # DL25215 would be plenty strong to pull your 4000lb fiberglass boat on your bunk trailer, and already includes a 2" x 20' polyester strap so you will not need to purchase one separately. Since the wiring included with the # DL25215 has a quick connect already on it you can run that to the battery on your truck and mount the quick connector near your 7-way like you mentioned. You will then use the Dutton-Lainson Electrical...

The Dutton-Lainson Electrical Quick Connect for TW4000 Electric Winches, # DL24086, accepts up to 10 gauge wire. To secure the wire, you will need to solder it into place as it cannot be crimped. • How many Quick Connectors are Included in the Dutton-Lainson Electrical Quick Connects # DL24085
When ordering the Dutton-Lainson Electrical Quick Connect, # DL24805, you will get 2 plastic connectors, one male and one female and 4 quick connect terminals, properly sized for soldering 6 gauge wire into them, to make one complete quick disconnect setup. If you are using a larger gauge wire for installation of a large winch, you would need to go with the Superwinch Quick Connects, # BDW20133, for 2-4 AWG Wire.

  • Are there Quick Disconnects for an Electrical Winch with 5 Gauge Wiring
The best match that we have for a 5 gauge wire is going to be the Quick Connects, # BDW20018. It fits 3 to 5 gauge wire. The other options we have would be too small (6 to 10 gauge) so going larger would be the way to go.

  • Is There A Higher Rated 7-Way Connector For Powering A 12v Fuel Transfer Pump
Hey Mark, There aren't higher rated 7-pin plugs available but what we usually do in a situation like this would be to splice in some Anderson-style connectors # DL24085 with a higher gauge wire. These connectors can use up to 6 gauge wire but for 40 amps you can just use 8 gauge wire from your local hardware store.

  • Will Dutton-Lainson StrongArm Winch DL25010 Work With 2023 Yamaha SX190 Jet Boat?
They sure will! The following components you were looking at will all work perfectly with your new 2023 Yamaha SX190 Jet Boat: Strong Arm Winch # DL25010 Quick Disconnect Connectors # DL24085 Winch Cover # DL24051 With that said you shouldn't need the Mounting Bracket # DL24059 as your boat trailer should already have a standard winch mount for the winch to install.

  • Mounting Bracket for Winch Quick-Connect Wiring
We do offer quick-connect winch wiring kits like # DL24085 and # DL24086 from Dutton-Lainson which are intended for specific winch products (based on their power requirements). Although we do not have a water-proof mount for these (or the Anderson SB50) we do offer a no drill bracket # C57202 which you could use as a mounting point for one of the connectors. These connectors have holes in them to allow for either securing one half of the connector to a trailer surface (the mounting bracket...

  • Is a Wire Needed Between the Alternator and Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger
Yes, you will have to run a power wire from the alternator to the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger part # 331-BCDC1225D which gets installed on the trailer, there is no way around this nor would there be for any other battery charger of its kind. The correct size of wire to use will have much to do with the length between the alternator and trailer battery. Most likely you will need a 6-8 AWG wire. If you have any local car audio stores nearby they will most likely be able to sell...

  • How To Add Quick Disconnect Harness for Electric Boat Winch
I may have a solution for you, but there's not going to be a wiring harness that can be used that will provide you with the power you're going to need to pull from the battery to power the winch. Your best bet might be to create some sort of quick disconnect for each of the batteries that you can either hook up when needed, or leave attached to the vehicles. This would require cutting off the battery clamp ends of your winch and putting quick disconnects like the Dutton-Lainson Electrical...

You would then remove the connectors on the # BDW20206 and replace them with those provided by part # DL24085. For the wire you will change the quantity to the amount of feet you will need which will depend on where you want the connector to go on the truck.
