Video Transcript for Bulldog Winch Quick-Connect Set Review

Speaker 1: Today we'll be having a look and showing you how to install the Bulldog Wench Quick Connect set for power sports with dust covers for six gauge wires. Part number: BDW20047. To quick disconnect and this will allow us to easily plug into our truck and unplug quickly and easily. These are the cables that provide the power output from our truck to our trailer. We'll remove the dust covers. This is for six gauge wire and insert them together. That's it.

We're ready to get on the road. Now, this quick disconnect will be a great replacement for worn out, damaged, missing connectors for your wench, your snow plow attachment on the front of your truck, or a salt spreader on the back of your snow plow, such as we'll be doing here. You can even use it for a battery charge lying kit in a travel trailer or a fifth wheel. This kit does come with two matching ends and the four terminals. So, you have all you need in order to make a proper connection. This kit has a polycarbonate housing so it's durable and is rated to handle up to 50 amps. You'll see that it's labeled.

We have a nice positive side and a negative side so you can easily identify which cable goes where. We have a cover that has a lanyard built in so when it's not in use you can protect it from the elements and keep your terminals free of corrosion and free of dirt and debris. To begin our install, we'll need to remove some of the insulation from our wires. So, we use a utility knife just to cut away our insulation a little bit. Once you sufficiently cut around it we'll be able to pull the end of it off. We will do the same for the other wire. Now, we'll take our connector, our terminal end, and place it on one of our wires.

Doesn't matter which one. Put it all the way on there. Then, we'll crimp it into place. We're using a hydraulic crimper, which is readily available at most hardware stores. Pull that and make sure it's nice and secure.

We'll do the same for our other wire. Now, we'll take our quick disconnect housing, we'll pull off the cover. On the end we have a lanyard, we'll slide that over one of our wires. It doesn't matter which one. You'll notice there's a positive sign and a negative sign. We'll attach the positive to our positive cable, which in our case is the orange one here. So, it'll be this one. To do that we'll just slide the cable inside of the connector and push. When you hear it click you know it's secure. The negative, we'll attach the negative, which is our black one. Okay, once it clicks in we'll pull back on both to make sure both of our cables are locked into place, which they are. We have our cover, which we can slide over so when it's not in use it'll be protected from the elements. That completes our look at, and showing you how to install the Bulldog Wench Quick Connect set for power sports with dust cover for six gauge wire, part number: BDW20047.

Little smaller than i expected but works great. The cable on the dust cap could be just a bit longer. Also need to add a washer behind when mounting the end with the dust cap on a flat surface. The dust cap is just a little too thick and won't go on if mounted flush. Other than that great product i use to as a quick connect for the removeable winch on my car trailer.

by:

MY LAST ORDER DID NOT COME WITH THE DUST CAP BUT IT WORKS GREAT MAY ORDER ANOTHER SET FOR BACK UP

by:

I will be using this plug for the installation of a Redarc DC to DC charger and a small camping trailer. I like the apparent quality of this plug and others I looked at did not have the dust cap. The kit includes the proper size ring terminals which save me from shopping around for them.

by:

This is the second time I used trailer and without a doubt “great service” right from researching the required product, to shipping, follow-up, and good pricing. Do not hesitate to recommend trailer.

by:

Just opened the shipping box. Everything looks just as advertised and in good condition. Looking forward to installing the kit. Thank you

I mounted my bulldog wench on a 2x8 and placed it on the back of the bed of Polaris Ranger. Do to health reasons I can no longer pick up deer & hogs so the bulldog wrench work great to get game in the back of Ranger .

by:

I didn’t realize that there’s only one dust cover or I would of gotten one with both dust covered.

Great two thumbs up it made connecting my snow plow effortless

by:

You need more dimensions of this type product, of course I ordered a small size when I needed a large size and mm's don't help most of us.

by:

To small for my needs, maybe one day I'll find some use for it.

  • Are the Bulldog Quick Connects IP Rated Waterproof
The Bulldog Quick Connect Kit # BDW20047 was not IP rated and in most case their exposure to the elements is expected, so that type of water resistance isn't required. To help shield these connectors from the elements that are encountered on the road these connectors come with dust covers that keep them free of dust/debris and water during travel.

  • Will Superwinch 2-4 Gauge Wire Quick Connects # SW2236 Work on 12000-lb Winch
The Bulldog Winch Quick-Connect Set # BDW20133 that you referenced will work with winches that have 2 gauge wiring. The weight capacity of your winch is a function of both motor capacity/wiring gauge, and also its gear train. If your winch uses 2 gauge wiring then you can use this connector # BDW20133. We also offer part # BDW20047 that's designed for use with 6 gauge wiring.

  • Can 2 AWG Be Used on the Superwinch Winch 2 Go 4000
The Superwinch Winch 2 Go 4000 comes with 6 AWG. Therefore the correct quick-disconnect terminal would be part # BDW20047 which is rated for 6-10 AWG, not part # BDW20133 which is rated for 2-4 AWG. In order to use the quick-disconnect terminal rated for 2-4 AWG, you would also need to change out the wires in the box that run from the ring terminals on the winch to the quick-disconnect terminal on the back of the box.

  • How to Power an Electric Trailer Winch from a Tow Vehicle
There are a few different ways that you could wire up an electric winch to your truck, even if the winch is mounted on a trailer. I do not recommend wiring it to the trailer connector wiring because winches draw a lot of power and trailer wiring is too small to handle that kind of current. Take a look at the help article I have linked for you. The second half covers methods of wiring up a trailer mounted winch. Option 1: Wiring the Winch with Trailer and Vehicle Winch Wiring Kit, is the...

  • How to Tell if Bulldog Winch Quick Connect Will Work With Badlands Winch
There are many different capacities of Badlands winch so it's not possible to tell you outright if the Bulldog Winch Quick-Connect Set for Powersports w/ Dust Cover - 6 AWG # BDW20047 will work with your Badlands winch. You can pretty easily tell though, as if your winch uses the same 6 AWG you can absolutely use the Bulldog Winch Quick-Connect Set # BDW20047.

  • Why Does the Bulldog Winch Quick-Connect Set Only Come With One Cap
The Bulldog Winch Quick-Connect Set part # BDW20047 only comes with one cover/plug. The reason for this is because the side attached to the battery would still be live which is the side you would use the plug on as water could get into the connector and cause corrosion issue. The other side would not be powered therefore corrosion issues would not be possible. If you wanted, you could coat the pins with dielectric grease part # 11755 but a cover is not available separately nor is it needed.

  • Is a Dust Cover for the Winch End On a Bulldog Winch Available?
There is only one dust cover offered with the Bulldog Winch Quick-Connect Set for Powersports w/Dust Cover # BDW20047 is because the end where you'd use the included dust cover would also be connected to the battery and if water got in it could cause corrosion. The other end would not have any power going to it and would not need a cover since corrosion wouldn't be possible. You could put dielectric grease # 11755 to protect your pins but other than that there isn't an option since a cover...

  • Recommended Quick Connects for a Winch Being Installed on a Boat
Since the quick connects are only rated to 50 amps I'd beef up your cables to cover your 150 amp max pull rating. The 6 AWG is a minimum so you can go bigger, luckily. I'd steer towards something like the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit # BDW20207 or for just the quick connects # BDW20133. This kit/connectors are going to work with 2 AWG wire which is larger, however they are rated for up to 175 Amps so you'll have your coverage.

  • Wiring and Quick Disconnects for Superwinch LT2000 Electric Utility Winch
The recommended wire kit for Superwinch winch # 1120210 is # BDW20307. This kit includes the wiring and the quick disconnects. If you wanted just the quick disconnects you would need # BDW20047. These are the same ones included with the previously mentioned wiring kit. I have linked installation instructions for you and a link to our help article on wiring an electric winch.

  • Quick Connects and Wiring Recommendation for Use with a 4,500 lb Winch
The Bulldog Quick Connects # BDW20047 that you referenced are designed to be used on wire that is from 6-10 gauge. Since you have 6 gauge wire you would be just fine. This does not come with any wire, and to determine if your winch requires circuit breakers installed on the power line you will need to check the owners manual of the winch or the manufacturer. For a kit that includes the wiring you would want the part # BDW20043. This kit would then use quick connects like # BDW20018. These...

If you are looking to attach the Superwinch Winch 2 Go 4000 SR part # SW1140232 to this wiring harness kit, you can either use the pigtail the runs to the Superwinch S4000 or you can simply cut the clamps off the Winch 2 Go and attach a new set of quick connectors like the Superwinch Quick Connects part # BDW20047...

  • What Quick Connects Do I Need to Install Quick Connect On My Bulldog Winch
It sounds like you're looking for the quick disconnect that goes on the cables of your winch. If you've got a Bulldog winch you can use the Bulldog Winch Quick-Connect Set for Powersports w/Dust Cover - 6 AWG # BDW20047 if your winch has 6 gauge wires; if your winch has 1/0 gauge wires you'll want to use # BDW20172. • How to Protect Bulldog Winch Quick Connectors for Winch Wiring on a Truck
The Bulldog Winch quick connectors # BDW20047 themselves do not have any sort of cover to protect them from the elements. But what you could do is modify mounting box # RP74641 and that will help protect them. There is no one place that you have to mount the connectors. You can mount them in a place that works best for you. We do sell 10 gauge wire. I recommend # 10-2-1 since it is 2 wires in 1 sheath. It is sold by the foot so if you needed 20 feet you would put 20 in the quantity box.

  • Fuel Pump Kill Switch Theft Deterrents Recommendation
Sounds like you are trying to make a kill switch for your fuel pump as a theft deterrent. What I would recommend you do is instead of quick disconnects that could easily be reconnected if a thief were to find it, I would use a fuse holder like the part # FLX30357K as a kill switch. This way whenever you leave your vehicle you could pull the fuse and take it with you so that unless the thief happened to have fuses on him (he won't) he wouldn't be able to hotwire your vehicle. He also wouldn't...

Keep in mind though that when multiple batteries are connected together it takes a long time to charge all of them up. Instead of using the batteries you could attach the inverter directly to one of the truck batteries so that it will get constant power without depleting the truck batteries. This will allow you to keep your 4 deep...

You are correct on both counts for the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger # 331-BCDC1240D.
