Using Dutton-Lainson Quick Disconnect to Wire Hose Reel Motor

I have a 12V, 53 AMP hose reel motor for a pick up truck water tank unit. I will be running 6 AWG wire with a 50 AMP circuit breaker. I want to have a quick disconnect for the wire, and was looking at your Item #DL24085. Will this work in my application as described?

6 gauge wire can handle up to 55 amps, so the wire and the # DL24085 quick disconnect you're planning on using should work very well for you. The connector is designed for use with 6 gauge wire, so the wire and quick disconnect will be compatible with the power draw of your motor.

Normally 6 gauge wire is used for winch wiring applications. If your application does not require the high amperage draw that a winch requires then you could use 8 gauge wire in the connector tips. Any smaller wire than that would most likely not…

In order to determine the torque rating for the lug nuts on your trailer you will need to know check out the chart I attached that shows all of the torque specs for all the trailer lugs available based on stud size, wheel material and wheel size.
