Do the Dutton-Lainson Boat Trailer Deluxe Roller Bunks Have to be Installed on Bunk Boards

Question:

I have a 2007 Tracker Targa 165 SC boat and trailer setup. The lags on the bunk boards fell out and its time to replace. Im intrigued with going to a roller setup, however I do not want to raise the boat up. For me, it makes no sense logically to attach this product to a set of wooden bunk boards. It seems redundant and unnecessary. Can I just attach these to the factory mounting brackets. The existing mounts are 1/4 welded directly to the frame. I would be raising the boat up slightly more than stock but not nearly as much as putting this product on new bunk boards. see photos Im not 100 sure of the boat, motor fuel weight. I believe these rollers will work and might be overkill. But other models on eTrailer seem too light. The duct tape and zip ties were an emergency repair. As I backed down the ramp I noticed the one bunk board was floating funny and only attached by the last lag bolt.

If you do not want to mount the Dutton-Lainson Boat Trailer Deluxe Roller Bunk # DL21741 to the bunk boards, there are brackets that can be used.

- Boat Trailer Roller Bunk Bracket for Dutton-Lainson Roller Bunks # DL21742 (4 needed to mount a pair of boards)

Looking at your pictures, your current brackets appear to have a similar bracket/hole placement as the # DL21742 brackets. So there is a decent chance that you can reuse those brackets.

Knowing that you can always fall back to using the # DL21742 brackets, I would just try fitting the Dutton-Lainson Boat Trailer Deluxe Roller Bunk # DL21741 to your current brackets and if they don't work, pick up the # DL21742 brackets.
