How to Determine U-Bolts and Fasteners Needed to Install SE Smith Bunk Boards and Brackets

Question:

I ordered the 7 foot bunks and CE Smith Vertical bunk bracket. What kind of fasteners do I need to put it all together? I was thinking half inch by 1 1/2 inch bolts to attach the brackets to the trailer frame, but the description mentions something about a u bolt, not sure how a u bolt would fit. If so, what size? Also, what type of fastener attaches the bunks to the bracket? A large stainless steel wood screw? Attached a photo of the underside of my trailer frame. Thanks!

So the U-Bolt will secure the CE Smith Light Duty, Vertical Bunk Bracket # CE10603G with the ends pointing towards the back of the trailer. If you look at the picture you took it looks like those fasteners holding your current brackets could be U-Bolts in this orientation.

I'm not sure what your frame size is but I'm linking our list of U-Bolts that you can check out if your current hardware is in need of replacing.

When it comes to attaching your Bunk Boards # CE27845 to these brackets I think your best bet would be to pre-drill a hole through the boards where they will attach to the brackets and use stainless steel hardware with a lock nut so that you avoid the potential of splintering your boards.
