Question:

I have a 14 Lund w boat , that has been customized with 5/8 plywood and steering wheel, on top of a Lund trailer. trouble is the boat is heavy and hard to push off as its on a 2/4 bunks . what do you suggest and should I fasten on top of the wood bunks?

You can make loading and unloading your 14-foot Lund onto your trailer a lot easier by adding roller bunks to your existing 2 x 4 carpeted wooden bunks. These can bolt on directly to your existing bunks, even right over the carpet. We offer them in 4-foot and 5-foot lengths that you can see by clicking on the link provided.

I recommend using two pairs of 5-foot rollers # DL21741 for their higher 3000-lb capacity or the CE Smith 4-footers # CE27700 that you referenced. With either of these roller bunks your winch will have to work much less to bring the Lund up onto the trailer and they should help to extend the working lifespan of the winch by taking away some of the stress on it.

Mounting hardware is not included so you'll want to locally source stainless steel fasteners (either screws or nuts/bolts - your choice) to fasten them to the bunks.
