Westlake Radials

This radial ply tire from Westlake is constructed with double steel belts and double polyester cords for increased durability. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.

Westlake Standard Tread Close-Up

The standard tread on this tire has solid, continuous ribs, and there are very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. This tire is designed for use on trailers, so it doesn't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Will pass on wear in for as we travel/use, customer service from etrailer top notch, ha d concerns of tire manufacturers dates and rep Mellissa assured me their inventory rotates quite often and as advertised she’s right, my tires delivered were manufactured August of 22, nice work e and Mellissa y’all have my business again..

by:

I purchased 4 of these Westlake G rated tires to replace the original same tires on my fifth wheel travel trailer. I had excellent wear and durability with the first set so I purchased the same again. Martha was my salesperson and she was great. The order process went smoothly and the tires shipped promptly. I had them shipped to a local tire shop and they were received in a timely manner. I’m having them installed this next week. Thanks Martha and eTrailer for a quick smooth order process.

by:

Far exceeded my expectations, the tires arrived in two days and they’re all spot on! Caylin was efficient and I was informed throughout the process. I replaced all six of my Goodyear Marathons with the Westlake G Rated Trailer Tires because of it’s enhanced construction, it provides confidence in towing heavy loads while Rv’ng coast to coast. My 2010 Keystone Raptor stands a little taller now. HOOH-AH.

It’s been very good so far, we traveled from the South to the West Coast from SoCal to Seattle and back. Utilizing the right tires combined with TPMS and travel speeds of 65-70 mph definitely works well.

by:

The only tires we use. We travel 10,000 miles a year and these tires give us peace of mind.

by:

Paul B made the experience with ordering and receiving our Westlake tires great. He helped us with the speedy delivery to guarantee we had them in time to start our adventure.

by:

Tires came new but 1.4 years old. It’s august 23 and the tires were 16th and 17th week of 2022

To be honest it is not unusual for the tires to be up to 2 years old. They are stored in climate controlled warehouses to make sure that they do not experience rot. In case you are worried about warranty, I can tell you the warranties on the tires start from when they are purchased and not from when they are manufactured.

by:

Second time ordering these tires. However if you take advantage of the free shipping from etrailer.com don’t expect your order fee to be delivered on the estimated delivery date. My ordered arrived 2 days late and the customer service rep acted like I should of paid for expedite shipping because they are busy this time of year.

by:

Wow I ordered 5 Westlake tires on 4/9/23 and they were delivered on 4/12/23 with free delivery very fast etrailer has my business for ever these tires are for my 5th wheel

by:

Great company, excellent service! Order arrived when promised.
I’ve used these tires on my GD376TH with great success. I’ve also ordered with them before and always super reliable.

by:

Nice to get free shipping

by:

Excellent tire. Very heavy duty and seems to be holding up well. Only have had them for a few months but so far so good.

by:

Exactly what I ordered came days before promised date

by:

My 4 Westlake tires were delivered on time and in perfect condition. The DOT codes on three tires were the exact week and year of manufacture and one was only manufactured three weeks earlier. These are great results as age is more of a facture than tread wear in the RV world. I will be using the new tires on my heavy 16k lb. 5th wheel and moving one of my best old tires to be the Spare.
Really impressed with the 4k+ load rating and 14 bias ply tread of tire and the "G" rating as well. Big upgrades from my last tires.
etrailer did an excellent in shipping and communication in tracking of the order.

by:

Tire is exactly as advertised.

by:

My original tire order was delayed due to the manufacturer. The customer service rep reached out immediately to let me know of the delayed delivery date and suggested a comparable in stock tire. I received the new order within a few days.

by:

Received my order fast. I’ll always use Etrailer , this tire was so hard to find, no tire shops in my Area could not even order it , I received my order with in days !!!

  • Best 235/80-16 Replacement Trailer Tires for RV
I recommend the West the Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire, Item # WE76FR. This is a load range G suitable for use up to 4,080 lbs per tire at 110 psi. Four of these would put you at a max load of 16,320 pounds. This tire has a 75 mph speed rating and it comes with a 5-year warranty. There won't be any issues using these tires in a hot southeast climate so long as you fill them to the 110 psi rating listed on the sidewall and stay within the speed rating.

Going with the slightly smaller, yet higher capacity Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire # WE76FR will be absolutely no problem at all. The Westlake # WE76FR will have an outer diameter of 31.7 inches and a section width of 9.3 inches, whereas a Goodyear Endurance ST255/85R16 has an outer diameter of 33.07 inches and a section width of 10.04 inches. So between the 2, there really isn't too much difference in size. The # WE76FR will up the capacity of the tire to 4,400 pounds at 110...

  • What is the Correct Tire Pressure for a 235/80R16 Load Range G Trailer Tire
The correct tire pressure will depend on what is listed on your tire. Trailer tires should be inflated to the max psi. This could vary depending on the manufacturer, so it is important to follow what is printed on the side of the tire. For example, the Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire # WE76FR has a max psi of 110 which can be seen in the picture below.

  • Recommended Replacement Wheels and Tires For a 2001 Kieferbilt Horse Trailer With 5,200LB Axles
The Dexstar # AM20746 is going to have a silver powder coat finish while the Vesper # TA73VR has a more durable acrylic enamel finish which is resists damage better than powder coat. For the tires I recommend sticking with a quality ST235/80R16 load range E tire like the Karrier # AM10248. Going up to a 14-ply like the Westlake # WE76FR will cause the tire to bounce more than deflect which transfers more shock into the trailer causing a worse ride for your horses and equipment.

It is indeed the valve stem that gives you the psi rating for the wheels, and if you'd like you can go to a bolt-in valve stem rated for over 100 psi, the Americana Metal, Bolt-In Valve Stem # AM20906. You can use this valve stem along with a 16" x 6" wheel with a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern to get its complete 3,050 capacity, the Dexstar Steel Mini Mod Trailer Wheel - 16" x 6" Rim - 6 on 5-1/2 - Silver Powder Coat # AM20746. • Best 235/80R16 Load Range G Trailer Tires
We don't sell Sailun so have no information about them or their quality whatsoever. The best load range G 235/80R16 trailer tire is the Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range G # WE76FR. The # WE76FR has a deep 11/32" tread depth, indicator so you can see when the depth is getting worn, and they also offer a 5-year warranty. That's an impressive length for a trailer tire, and more than double the amount of similar tires, whose manufacturers probably don't trust to last as long.

The dual which you found is used when the tire is used in a dually setup(2 wheels and tires per hub). This Westlake for instance is a load range G and the dual weight is only 3,640lbs per tire. • Should Westlake ST235/80/R16 Trailer Tires be Inflated to Their Max PSI on Sidewall
With trailer tires you want to inflate them to the max PSI listed on the sidewall when they are cold and any pressure fluctuations are fine as long as you aren't overloading the tire and are below the speed rating. Yours going up to 120 psi when warmed up is fine. With trailer tires a good max temperature setting is 156 degrees.

  • Can 235/80-16 Load Range E Tire Be Replaced with Same Size in Load Range G
A 235/80-16 Load Range E tire typically has a 3520 lb capacity, while the Westlake # WE76FR Load Range G tire you looked at will have a 4080 lb capacity. You can certainly go with a higher load rated tire if you wish, as long as the combined capacity of the tires exceeds the weight of the trailer and its contents.

  • Estimated Life Expectancy of Westlake WE76FR 235/80-16 Trailer Tires
Due to the long list of variables that can affect the lifespan of a trailer tire, Lionshead who manufactures the Westlake tires couldn't provide a mileage number. They tell me that the average life expectancy of a trailer tire is between 3 and 5 years, which I'd certainly agree with. Trailer tires will typically tend to dry rot and crack before the tread wears down. The best way to maximize the life of your tires is to: • Keep tires inflated to psi listed on tire sidewall • Don't exceed...

  • Is 16" Aluminum Liger Trailer Wheel Compatible with a 14 Ply Tire
Yes, the 16" Aluminum Liger Trailer Wheel # LH39FR is compatible with a 14 ply tire. Just be sure you don't exceed the 4,080 lb weight rating of this wheel though as different tires might have a different weight capacity but the same ply rating. If you don't already have a tire I recommend the Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire # WE76FR which is not only reliable but also has that 14 ply strength backed by the same 4,080 lb weight rating.

  • What is Normal PSI Increase of Trailer Tire After Being on Highway
So typically a tire will increase heat by about 50 degrees when hot from driving. And for every 10 degrees of heat you will gain about 1 psi of pressure. While I don't know what tires you have or what their max psi rating is but an increase of around 5-10 psi is pretty normal. If you had the part # WE76FR though 120 psi would be just fine.

Tires have a lifespan of 3-6 years or 10,000-12,000 miles, whichever comes first.
