Video Transcript for TruRyde E-Z Lube Grease Caps Plug Review

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be checking out the true ride plugs for EZ Lube grease caps. So right off the bat you're probably wondering are these actually gonna fit my trailer And as long as you have the EZ Lube grease caps chances are really good they will. There are a bunch of different manufacturers that make these caps but generally speaking they're all gonna have the same size opening there. So if you pop this one out, like I said majority of them are gonna be the same. So 1.18 size opening.

So if you're unsure, you can measure that and figure that out really. And the whole point of the cap, you know the grease cap and this plug, is allow to you to pop that out like I just did. Get your grease gun in there and lube up all of your parts inside of there with ease. And then, you know, obviously you don't wanna leave that exposed. So the cap will pop back into place.

And these things are really tight too. So I feel like they do a decent job of keeping everything sealed up. To me this is just one of these small parts. It's just good to keep, you know, replaced every now and again. What happens over time They just wear out, you know what I mean They get sun faded, kind of start to dry rot.

You know, if you're in and out of the water with em, and this is a good example of one that's several years old. It's started to dry rot, try to push it in place, and the center of it just pushed through. So, you know, if you're cap and everything's still in good shape, you can get away with just get the the replacement plugs like this one here that way put it in, keep everything sealed. And that way, you know, you don't end up chewing your bearings up, getting dirt and everything else inside of there. And I was replacing one, I would probably just replace 'em all.

You know, it's one of those small things to just, just knock 'em all out. Like that's just me. And I mean, you know, the type of stuff happens. Like I said, they just wear out, you grease 'em forget to put 'em back in. Whatever the case may be at the very least, there's an option available that you can grab these and get fixed back up. The plug does feel like it's made from some type of rubber, pretty thick. Like I said, I feel like it should hold up for quite some time. That one I just had was super old. So I got a lot of life out of it. But other than that though, I mean, at the end of the day you know, that's really about it. Regardless if you need these, or let's say, even if you're looking for the whole whole deal, you need the cap as well. Tons of different options available here at etrailer. So regardless on the small ins and outs that you need, we should be able to get you covered. And that'll finish up our look at of the true ride plugs for the EZ Lube grease caps..

fit well, excellent price compared to brick & mortar local sources.
love the EZ-lube axles, not a fan of how these rubber plugs deteriorate, crack and come apart.
Now we have a source.
Thx

Great grease cap plugs!

by:

THEY HAD MY PURCHASE HISTORY @ THEIR FINGERTIPS! I'M NOT THRILLED ABOUT THE DURABILITY OF THE CAPS. I ONLY REPLACED THEM 3-4 YEARS AGO, AND THEY SEEM TO BE GETTING PRETTY SPONGY. THEY NEED A DIFFERENT MATERIAL THAT WON'T REACT WITH THE BEARING GREASE

by:

Needed to replace the originals they sometimes get a hole when removing to grease the axil. These are a good replacement.

by:

Great affordable way to keep your hubs on. They have been in my trailer for about a year and they are still in good condition.

by:

So far so good. These plugs are good replacements for my old ones that started to leak grease. They fit the 1.18 inch hole and seem tight.

by:

perfect fit for the ezlube hub

by:

Perfect fit on my Dexter axles!

by:

Replaced my old the grease cap plugs on my boat trailer. Fit perfectly.

by:

The price was very reasonable. Fast ship time too. I've always had great luck with etrailer.

by:

Worked perfectly! Quick delivery. I will continue to use etrailer!

by:

Holds up better than the original off my 24ft enclosed trailer. No issues even after one year of being beaten by the Arizona sun.

by:

I tried this product for an aviation application. I own a DHC-2 Beaver aircraft that has a tail wheel axle that is 1.125 inch ID. I wanted an end cap that was removable because the axle tube is used to steer the aircraft with a hand held bar during some ground movement. So far the rubber cap seems to work. It has remained on during several flights. It is easy to remove and insert. The only problem may occur if the cap mounting area of the axle become oily or greasy which may allow the cap to slip off. It seems to need a friction fit to stay on.

Richard

Grease Caps - still fit, still work as designed a year later. Removed &amp replaced twice to add grease to hubs. The caps remain flexible, no drying or UV cracking. What more do you want? They are grease caps. Oh, I get it ... These etrailer grease caps have changed my life. I lost 135 pounds since I bought them - Oh wait ... that was the x-wife and the divorce ...

by:

Order the parts saturday and got him today on or Wednesday. Great turnaround on parks.

  • Replacement Grease Cap Plug for 6,000 lb Dexter Hub
A 6,000 lb Dexter hub uses the grease cap of the RG04-120 so for a replacement cap plug you'd need the # RG04-010.

  • Zerk Fittings Keep Falling Out on Boat Trailer With EZ-Lube Spindles
Because the zerk fitting is a press fit, if they are falling out I would recommend simply leaving them out and replacing your existing grease caps with bearing protectors like Bearing Buddies. The Bearing Buddies you need will depend on your hub bore, or the outer bearing number. Once the fittings start falling out, there is not much that can be done to keep them in place. The holes where the zerk fitting was and the holes in the spindle that the grease passed through will not cause any...

It comes with the Outer Bearing # L44649, Inner Bearing # L68149, and Grease Seal # 58846, as well as the appropriate races. • Would the TruRyde Grease Cap Plug # RG04-010 work as a Replacement for AL-KO Cap # 568067
I did some checking and it looks like the Al-KO cap # 568067 is designed to fit a 1-3/16 inch hole. The Grease Cap Plug # RG04-010 is also designed to fit this size hole so it should work well for you.

  • Replacement Grease Cap for 2021 Grand Design Transcend 245RL
More than likely the correct grease cap for your 2021 Grand Design Transcend 245RL is the Replacement EZ Lube Drive-In Grease Cap # 21-41-1. This has an outer diameter of 1.986" so you will need to measure the inside diameter of your hub bore to see if it matches. From what I found, Grand Design used four different hubs on this particular trailer so there is no other way to be sure. If you need the rubber plugs as well you can use # RG04-010. Regarding the black lug nuts, that is not something...

  • Grease Cap Recommendation to Replace Cap with Lost Plug
We do not have any grease cap plugs that are designed to fit a 1-1/2 inch opening. The only recommendation I could give you would be to get a new grease cap. To pick out the correct grease cap you will need to remove your current one and measure the distance of the opening on your hub with a dial caliper or micrometer. I attached a page that has all of the EZ lube grease caps we offer that have plugs in them.

  • What is the Size of the Rubber Plug in the End of the Dexter EZ Lube Grease Caps
The Grease Cap Plug for the E-Z Lube Grease Caps, # RG04-010, has a measurement of 1.18 inches. I checked a few other references and could not find any measurement other than the 1.18 inches for the size of the rubber plugs.

  • How Does an EZ-Lube Axle Work
On an EZ-Lube axle, the grease gets inserted at the end of the spindle through a zerk fitting and comes out of a hole that should be in between the bearings, filling them both. You would not be able to use Bearing Buddies because the zerk fitting at the end of an EZ Lube axle would interfere with the installation.

The closest is 1.781 which is a Bearing Buddy size and wouldn't fit an EZ lube axle. There are several different hubs with the 8-201 designation.
