Video Transcript for Review of Stromberg Carlson Camper Jacks - Leveling Stabilizer Jacks 10K - JSC-30

Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a quick look at the pair of leveling stabilizer jacks. These are going to help to keep your campers steady and stable whenever you're in there moving around, or just getting situated, walking around inside there. A lot of times, whenever you get inside a camper, if you don't have any stabilizer jacks, you can feel really wobbly and unsteady. It can actually be a little dangerous as well. So these are going to help to keep everything nice and level and mostly stable.

So we don't have to worry about it rocking back-and-forth or feeling like we're going to topple over or cause any damage to the camper. It does come as a pair of jacks, so get this one extended up pretty far. This isn't quite all the way up and the other one in the compact position. It does also come with the crank arms so you can operate those and make sure that you can lift and level them out pretty quickly and effectively. One thing I do want to note though, these are not intended to lift the whole weight of your camper. They'll just stabilize your jack.

So they're not intended to lift it up off the ground, they're just there to provide support so you want to make sure that you're not putting the entire weight of the camper just on these. You want to also be using the wheels and all that other good stuff. So just keep that in mind, they're not intended as lifting jacks, stabilizer jacks only. So let's take a closer look at how these guys work. Make sure that they're the right fit for you.

Between the two, they do have a weight capacity of 10,000 pounds, so each one on its own can handle 5,000 pounds. Again, you do want to be careful with that and not just put the whole weight of your camper there, but they will provide that amount of support. The way it's going to work is the drive nut here on the back, we'll take the crank arm with the socket, place it on there, and then just crank away to open it out. You can see it moves pretty easily. Of course, there's no weight on it right now so it's going to move pretty freely, but it should move freely as you are using it on your camper. And whenever you're closing it down, you just want to make sure that you get it all the way until that nut stops.

And of course it's acting wobbly because it's not attached to anything. As far as measurements with these, whenever it's completely closed, each jack measures about 32 inches long and then about four inches tall. We go to the top of the mounting flange there, the distance for the width of that mounting flange is about 10 inches and got several holes to choose from for that mounting plate so I'll give you a few measurements to use as reference.Between these outer most holes, center to center. I'm going to use ruler for this one. Between the two outermost holes it's about six-and-a-quarter inches, between the two closer ones it's about four inches. If we go between these two center to center again, it's right about five inches, maybe five-and-a-quarter. There might be a little bit of variance. It looks like the plates bow down a little. So as you attach this to your camper, it might draw in a little bit, so their measurements might change slightly. These are just rough estimates but there's also two small holes on either side. The distance reading on those long ways is about eight and five-eights inches. Going this way, it's about an inch-and-a-half. Here it's about an inch-and-a-half as well. So I hope that gives you an idea of that mounting plate. Whenever it's fully extended, the jacks measure about 30 inches tall. So whenever it's fully up, it should measure about that long and that bolt will stick out as it goes through or that's what drives everything, but it shouldn't ever be longer than about 30 inches. And I'm just going to give you one more measurement here to the end of that bolt, yeah, about 32 inches for that bolt. The foot is about nine inches long and about four-and-a-half inches wide. So that helps to spread out the weight of your camper, helps it to not just sink right into especially softer ground like mud or sand or softer grass and things like that. I hope that's been helpful in deciding if these are going to be the right stabilizer jacks for you. We do have a lot of options available here at etrailer.com and a lot of camping accessories in general. So check them out. Thanks for watching..

These jacks are solid and easy to install. Do not come with mounting hardware. I used 5/16” x 1.5” bolts with washers and lock nuts. Also added some locktite to be sure they don’t come loose. Standard attachment on most trailers seem to include one or two bolts, then the rest with self tapping screws, which isn’t very secure in my opinion. I had to drill out some of the smaller holes to fit the 5/16” bolts but an easy job for a DIY project. Thanks etrailer for selling a great product and quick delivery.

Works great. Put this on a T@DA, replaced bent rear lift. Took some modification and some drilled holes. No big deal. Want to replace the front ones, but they are still in good condition. Way better than original lifts.

by:

I ordered this jack set and I'm very pleased with not only how fast I got them but how they look and work. I ordered the socket also and it works great with my handydandy drill. I am using them on my camper to level it up. Thanks so much for having so much and such a great price.

by:

They worked well with our application. Didn't use them for trailer specifically but they still worked as what we have envisioned them to be.

While I’m confident the jacks are what I wanted, I don’t know yet if the mounting holes will line up.

  • Dimensions Of Stromberg Carlson Leveling Scissor Jack Set
I was able to find the dimensions of the Leveling Scissor Jack Set - 30 Lift - 10,000 lbs # JSC-30 you were looking at as shown in the included diagram, but unfortunately Stromberg Carlson does not have any CAD or technical drawings of the jacks. The # JSC-30 measures 32-1/2" long, 4" tall retracted, 30" tall extended, and the mounting bracket is 10" long. The foot is 9" long x 4-1/2" wide.

  • Replacement Scissor Jack Recommendation for a 2018 Forest River Rockwood Mini Lite 2507S
We have a handful of scissor jack options you can use as a replacement for your 2018 Forest River Rockwood Mini Lite 2507S but we don't have an exact part number for what came with your trailer. I recommend picking up the Stromberg Carlson 5K scissor jack with the 30" lift so you get the highest lift and a good, solid weight capacity at 5K per jack. Here are the part numbers for single and double kits: - Single Leveling Scissor Jack # JSC-30-IND - Leveling Scissor Jack Set # JSC-30

  • Recommended Jack Stands to Elevate Boat and Trailer for Storage with Weight Off Tires
For your boat trailer, to keep the weight off the tires for storage, I recommend the 2-Ton Jack Stands - Qty 2 # PTW41021. Each jack can hold 4,000 lbs, but I recommend using 4 of these spaced as evenly as possible to keep the weight off the wheels and then just use the trailer jack for a 5th point of support and balance.

They will offer up to 30" of extension for your camper to be stabilized. These will work best mounted at an angle to the trailer rather than paralleled with either the front or side. • How To Confirm Fit of Lippert High-Speed Power Stabilizer Jack
The mounting holes on the Lippert High-Speed Power Stabilizer Jack part # LC298707 are 68-11/16" apart side to side on center. This fits a standard-ish trailer frame spacing. That said, there are other frames outside of this spacing and in which case the jacks would not be a good option. This would require manual stabilizing jacks like the Scissor Jacks part # JSC-30.

  • Can Stromberg Carlson Leveling Scissor Jack Set Be Used To Lift Cars
The Leveling Scissor Jack Set # JSC-30 should only be used to stabilize a trailer. These are not designed to lift and hold a car. Instead, I recommend using a floor jack with jack stands like # PTW1605. If you need a total of 4 jack stands you can add 2 more using # PTW41021.

These manual scissors jacks are for stabilization and not for leveling, so if you want to level out your Class C Winnebago Vita motorhome then you will need leveling blocks, the Ultra-Fab Leveling Blocks for Trailers and RVs # UF48-979051. • How to Lift Class B Motorhome Off Ground to Protect Tires and Suspension for Full-Time Occupancy
Lifting your parked RV will help protect your tires from flat spots but stabilizer jacks like # UF48-979002 or # TJ01RT-HD are not suitable since they are not designed to handle the entire weight of the RV, only to support/stabilize a portion of it. A better solution is the TrailerLegs Tire Saver Stands # 326-TRLLG-4 which support the RV by the axles. The Leveling Scissor Jack Set, # JSC-30, is designed to be bolted or welded to a flat surface on the bottoms of the RV frame rails. As for whether a hitch can support the weight or force if the scissor jack was used in that location, the hitch manufacturers do not test their hitches for this so the answer is unknown. • Why Shouldn't Scissor Jacks be Used to Support Trailer Getting Loaded with Car Unhitched
I wish I could say yes, but scissor jacks like part # JSC-30 really aren't designed for that type of application. What you are trying to do becomes a little bit sketchy because the nose of the trailer is going to want to climb as well as the trailer roll forward so basically it's a recipe for disaster. You really would want to load and unload the trailer with it connected to a truck.

However, I do recommend you check your ground clearance once mounted so you don't have any issues with them scraping. • Can More than One Set of Scissor Jacks be Used on Trailer
Each jack of the Scissor Jacks part # JSC-30 are rated for 5,000 lbs of stabilization. That means that they can stabilize up to 10k if you do a set of two.
