Can Leveling Scissor Jack Set # JSC-30 be Mounted to Trailer Hitch on 2009 Icon Motorhome

Question:

We just bought a 2009 Icon Sprinter 3500 chassis and it has no levelers. We bought some scissors jacks hoping we could use them for stability. The only places I see to use them are 1 the tire changing locations which are a little difficult to get to and, possibly, 2 the already installed hitch. Do you think the hitch can support the weight/force put on it by scissor jacks? Thanks,

The Leveling Scissor Jack Set, # JSC-30, is designed to be bolted or welded to a flat surface on the bottoms of the RV frame rails.

As for whether a hitch can support the weight or force if the scissor jack was used in that location, the hitch manufacturers do not test their hitches for this so the answer is unknown.

Even if we could be assured that the hitch could support the weight, I do not think that you would be happy with the end result. Mounting the jacks to the hitch would create less ground clearance and due to a hitch being narrower than a frame rail, it would not offer the same amount of stability. Your best bet is going to be to mount the scissor jacks on the bottoms of the frame rails.
