I recently had a need for the Hopkins Endurance Quick-Fix Replacement 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector w LED Test Lights - Vehicle End - HM48190 to replace the faulty one on my van. It was easy to find what I needed on the site and the price was comparable to other sites I had visited. I decided to go with etrailer because I had previously ordered the hitch through them. I appreciated the fact that an email was sent out confirming that they received the order as well as a follow-up email telling me that the part was shipped along with providing the tracking number. The installation of the part was easy and took no time to complete. Overall it was a fine experience and if I need to order anything in the future, I will be sure to come back and order from etrailer.

Great product. Easy to install

These male and female 4 wire pigtails are advertised as "quick fix" connectors. I use these connectors so that I can make my own pigtails. Sure, you can buy a pre-wired pigtail and add on to it by splicing the wire with butt connectors, however by using the quick fix connectors, you eliminate the need for the butt connectors and an additional possibility of a place to have a problem such as corrosion. The connectors are easy to use, reliable and you do not have to use the conventional 4 flat wire. I have used these connectors with individual wires as well as a round, 4 conductor wire. In addition, these connectors are a newer version with screws to connect the plug together rather than a snap connector. This version also makes them easier to take apart in case of a malfunction.

The pigtails that I purchased are still in excellent condition and have held up well in the weather.

Wanted a connector I could bolt to my bumper instead of leaving it dangling. This fit the bill. My only complaint is that the no-strip wire connectors were apparently designed for a heavier gauge wire than my wiring harness has (no gauge range stated on the web site or packaging), so they didn't make good contact on the first try. I had to double the wires over before pushing them in so they made good contact (that made them a little too tight but it worked). I didn't originally think I needed the LEDs, but they came in handy letting me know about the connection problem, and reassured me that my fix took care of it.

Some of the lights on my trailer have stopped working. I havent had time to investigate, but I would not be at all surprised if it is related to the wire gauge mismatch.

by:

This connector was just what I was looking for to avoid doing any soldering or the entire harness. Was quick and easy to install. As a bonus, delivery was expected on a Mon., got it on Fri. Thanks!

Worked good for a short time then I noticed one of the lights out on it. Tried getting better contact then it never worked again so I just took it off.

Very easy to install and fast delivery

My Toyota 4-Runner has the trailer wiring hookup on the left side of the truck instead of the center near the trailer hitch so I have to use an extension wire. I replaced the end that the trailer plugs into with a matching end of this product so that the length allows me to tywrap the new end by the trailer hitch area. I then replaced the trailer connector with the same style of this product. It’s now a breeze to test the trailer lights and determine if and malfunctions are on the truck or trailer wiring.

by:

Exactly what I wanted

by:

My electrical connection to my trailor works very well with this connector.

I have used this product for a year now and it works as good as it did when I purchased it. Great product.

by:

Product is good, easy to install. Light on individual wire makes it easy along with the clear instructions that come with it. Video of item is very helpful.

Worst thing UPS to USPO mail service: always seems to be a day or two dead period.

Great, still working

by:

This connector is much more robust than the standard ones. It was simple to install and the bolt-together cover keeps the wiring firmly connected. I have had no problems with either of my trailers. The end cap stays on and keeps the contacts clean. Finally, I like the red LEDs that tell you at a glance which wires are live. Trailer wiring the way it should be.

by:

I broke the ground post off the hitch connector on my 2008 Toyota RAV4 and I bought this replacement connector on your website. It was very easy to just clip the four wires on my broken connector and insert the wires into this replacement connector. The replacement connector has two screws to open it up and then you just push the four wires into each push "V" connector. No stripping wires or terminal screws. The LED lights work just like the description on the website which made it easy to confirm the connections were good. The overall project took about 30 minutes. The only problem I had was that
the two bracket holes didn't match the holes on my tow bar, so I could only use one screw to re-attach the new connector. I used electrical tape to secure the wires so they wouldn't hang down.

by:

Could not have been simpler. Backed truck up on to ramps, unbolted the original harness (on which the ground plug had snapped off) verified the colors and placement of the wires on the new plug, cut them, slid the wires into this new plug per the directions, screwed the cap on and bolted it up in place where the original was. The LED's showed everything was working and it was done. No more than 10 minutes beginning to end. Could not have been easier or less expensive to repair my harness. A win/win.

by:

Just what I needed. The service was qui ck.

by:

Great box for making all the connections for the plug harness, trailer brakes, and the brake battery and safety switch. etrailer has all the parts needed to rewire a trailer from plug to lights!!!

by:

Great replacement for my 2000 Ford Ranger and likely any vehicle with tow light connector.

My cables were a little thin for the internal V spikes that you splice the wire in to, so I needed to take a pair of needle nose pliers and wrap them around the lead inside.

Came with terminal grease, which I didn't expect.

The three lights on the connector are great to make sure it's all working.

Highly recommended.

by:

Trailer connector works great. Mounts easily and wires attach with a cover plate. LED's show everything is working. billooltewah

no problems - have them on two vehicles - LEDs are great added feature - already have a spare to use on my next truck!

by:

I have not installed it yet but I like that it is sturdy construction with a hefty cap to keep the contacts clean. Extra added bonus is it actually has led's so that you know the connection is good! Only A few days delivery. Looks easy to install, no soldering or wire connectors needed.

by:

This worked like a charm and I'm about a 2/10 on the handyman skills level. Was easy to install and worked immediately. Service from etrailer was first rate - kept me up to date with shipping etc and followed up to check on my satisfaction. Delighted

by:

great product fasten it under my trailer hitch with two self taping screws. took about five minutes.product was shipped and delivered on
time as promised. works great!

by:

Ordered a bunch of stuff for hooking up a towed. Everything arrived as ordered and quick shipping. Everything fit the application without much trouble. Communication from etrailer was excellent. I would purchase from etrailer again.

by:

Best replacement connector! simple and easy to use and I love the test lights. solved my erratic non-working tail lights.

by:

Product has worked perfectly and makes it so much easier when hooking the trailer up to the car. No more dangling wires!

by:

I haven't had a chance to use it yet cause my camper is still under about two foot of snow but I had one before and it worked awesome. Both of the products that I ordered go together. You people are awesome I've ordered from you before and your really fast and sell a very high standard items at a low price.

  • 4-Way Round Trailer Connection Much Smaller Than What I Can Find
I have never seen a connection like that for a 4-way. Regardless of the pin size the slot is internal to the plug on the connection point instead of external as on current 4-Pole Round Connector # PK11404. I recommend replacing the connection with a standard size round connector # PK11404 or converting to the more common 4-flat # HM48190. The Adapter 4 Round to 4 Flat # will use the standard 4 round size connector.

  • Recommended Wiring For 5th Wheel RV Trailer to Pull Another Trailer
We do not have any kits for adding a trailer connector to a 5th wheel trailer, but you can simply run the wires from as far back as you can tap into the signal on your 5th wheel to the rear. I suggest using the Deka Bonded 4 Wire # 16-4B-1 sold by the foot. You can use quick splice wire connectors like # SWC501925-1. For the back of your RV, you can use the Hopkins Endurance Quick-Fix Replacement 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector w LED Test Lights - Vehicle End # HM48190. If you need to...

If you are looking for a keyed power source that only sees voltage with the key on you will need to also install a part # PK5231201 inline with the 12 volt power circuit from the battery with a keyed power source run to the middle...
