How To Replace a 4-Way Trailer Connector Without Standard Wire Colors

Question:

My housing broke off my 4 pin trailer. Need to buy a new housing and reconnect wires. Question: my 4 wires coming from the trailer are 1 green, 1 brown, 1 yellow, 1 yellow/brown. Not sure what the yellow/brown wire connects two since this wire is 2 colors.

In order to replace a 4-way trailer connector you can use part # HM48192 for the trailer end or part # HM48190 for the vehicle end. These connectors both have built-in lights to help with troubleshooting. In regards to installation; the usual wire colors are green for right stop/turn, yellow for left stop/turn, brown for running, and white for ground. If you have different colors which is the case you will unfortunately have to test each wire for function by touching the wire lead directly to a battery to see which circuit it illuminates.
