It works great,by moving the trailer back from the vehicle you can load longer items,so there are not hanging over the back of the trailer. It also helps in the backing of the trailer.
Thank You

Still working great an it is very solid piece metal. Thank You

by:

I would like to have the actual distance from the weld joint to the hitch pin hole of 4 1/2". This unit is slightly less than that.

by:

This extended hitch receiver is heavy and well built. It appears it will be able to withstand the extra weight of a 1-Up double rack and 2 e-bikes.

by:

Pulling a travel trailer with a pickup truck. This allows me to open the tailgate while connected and also gives more turning room.

Its been a year and a half and Im very pleased with the quality. Its heavy and solid and I feel safe hooking up the trailer to it.

by:

Quality ball mount and ball. I'm suprised to find extended ball mounts
in 11", 13.5" and 16" sizes, so I can put down the tailgate on my pickup without detaching the trailer. Fast shipping (free) adds icing on the cake. They even sent a coupon for 5% off on my next order.

This is a very well built extension, just what I needed, great service and fast shipping. Thanks etrailer

by:

No more bikes rubbing against the the back of motorhome. Great product.

by:

In that I'm into Kayak fishing, I often go off the beaten trail to find launch points. As a result I need to back my trailer into some very tight areas and I simply could not do so without my extender. The only reason I did not give this a 5 star, is because of the safety chains. I had to extend them and then Velcro them around the extender to prevent them from dragging the ground. It would be great if there were guides or mount points on the extender for the chains.

by:

Great shipping time. The hitch extension was processed very quickly after my order online was placed.

This extension will allow me to pull a 7000 GVW utility trailer using a weight distributing hitch, with my truck camper on the truck.

The 2" solid steel shank gives this extension the strength it needs to do the job right.

After lots of research this is the only one I found that would do the job and only reduce my truck hitch capacity by 1/3.

Now I will be able to tow the 8ft x 16ft enclosed utility trailer I have been wanting for hauling toys on some of our family camping adventures.

etrailer.com comes highly recommend by me.

by:

Ordered the hitch extender for my motorhome because my trailer had a short hitch and
the back of the motorhome would hit the front of the trailer. Installed the product and left the next morning with a race car and trailer in tow. Went approximately 250 miles and had no issues and the hitch extender. It worked perfectly.

by:

I had bought and returned 3 extenders made and sold by others prior to getting the Brophy 14" Extender. The Brophy is far more superior than the others. The solid shank is much longer than the others, and it extends into the hollow end by more than 2" than the others, which makes it more heavy duty than the other less expensive exterders. I placed this extender on the rear of a Sprinter RV to hold a 4 tray Kuat Bike Rack. With the superior quality of the Brophy, I'm now comfortable placing 4 high end bikes on the rack and it's SOLID.

by:

Great product.

by:

Heavy duty item. HEAVY item. The 2" section is solid steel. I bought this to move the hitch ball back to clear my camper. Item works as promised.

by:

This was the fastest I have ever received an item I ordered online , and the item was ten times more than I expected , the hitch receiver is made of good three eights thick tubeing and solid two inch thick stock material , the heavy duty extention will never ever wear out , great product and I will order from etrailer again and again , great job guys ,and American Made

by:

Does what it is advertised to do ... extend the location of the hitch ball.

The product came promptly and the price was competative. I'll continue to use etrailer as my source for trailer parts as I need them.

by:

I haven't hook up this yet.... I believe this will work well for the cargo carrier in order of me to open/close the rear SUV rear door...

by:

Quality product. Very well made. Delivery was fast. I'd order this product again.

by:

Perfect length for my Jeep since I have the back tire to deal with. Very heavy duty! Highly recommend for fellow Jeepers!

by:

This item was exactly what I wanted and arrived on time. etrailer always comes through when I need something associated with towing.

by:

The product arrived a head of suggested delivery. The extension was well built and works great

by:

Loved the high quality of this hitch.

by:

Easy to navigate website, good selection of product and had the inventory to get my order shipped out immediately. Also they had great communication all the way from order placement to delivery. If i need anything else, i'll be back.

by:

Well built product look forward to putting it to use. Was shipped fast and excellent customer service.

by:

Solid steel in the smaller part makes it heavy and strong, I don't think this will ever break

by:

Haven't actually used the product yet, but I can tell it is exactly what I was looking for. Very stout and solid.

  • How Can I Get More Clearance Between My Hitch and Trailer Coupler?
I had a couple of our couplers measured, but the Bulldog Cast Head Coupler w/ Wedge Latch - 2-5/16" Ball - Adjustable Channel - 14,000 lbs # BDA256C0317 ended up being the longest one we currently carry. We do have the Brophy Hitch Reducer and Extender - 2-1/2" to 2" Trailer Hitch - 7" Long # HR26, but the use of extenders like this will reduce your tongue weight, up to 1/3 in this case. If you need something longer, you could also go with the Brophy Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches...

Thank you for your prior purchases from etrailer! Towing a trailer with electric brakes will require that you install a trailer brake controller in your 2007 Hummer H2. The unit I recommend is the Prodigy P2 # 90885. This reliable and highly-rated controller is easy to set up and operate, it works with both electric brakes and electric-over-hydraulic brakes and it includes advanced features like built-in diagnostics and a bright LED display. You will want to check out the hitch you have installed on your 2007 Ford E-350 Van to see what the towing weight capacity and tongue weight capacity your hitch is when considering a hitch adapter. Using a hitch adapter like the Brophy Hitch Extender, part # HE12, will reduce the towing and tongue weight capacity of your hitch by 50 percent. If your hitch is rated for more than 4,000 lbs, you should be fine using this adapter, but I would check the tongue weight and weight of the fully-loaded...

  • Longest Hitch Extender with Highest Capacity for Dolly Towing Vehicle Behind Motorhome
The longest hitch extension for a 2 inch receiver with the highest towing capacity is the # ST18 from Reese. The extender has a 3,500 lb towing capacity. Keep in mind that using an extender like this particular one will lower your hitch towing and tongue weight capacity by one-third. The tongue weight shouldn't be an issue, because car dollies typically don't have a tongue weight much more than 100 lbs. The weight of the car plus the weight of the dolly couldn't exceed the 3500 lb towing...

  • Can A Hitch Extender Be Used When Towing A 3,000lb Utility Trailer
The Hitch Extender For 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver 14" Long # HE12 is going to reduce your F-250's trailer hitch capacity by 1/3 with a maximum GVWR capacity of 3,500lbs. This means that you would need to know the capacity of your F-250 and reduce it by 1/3. That being said the the overall capacity of the # HE12 is above the 3,000lb GVWR of your trailer so you'll be fine using it with your trailer.

  • Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver to Tow 3,000 lb Trailer With Tailgate Down
To tow with the tailgate down on your 2015 Ram 1500, what you'll need is a hitch extender, and the best option is the Hitch Extender For 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver - 14" Long # HE12. This will give you plenty of room to put your tailgate down and tow 3,000 lbs. Keep in mind extenders will reduce your hitch capacity (including tongue weight), and most reduce it by a full one-half, but this extender only reduces it by one-third. This reduction should not be an issue for a hitch on a truck...

  • Why Do Hitch Extenders Reduce Hitch Capacity
Hitch extenders like the Kuat # HL20B and similar items # C45791, # C45795 and # HE12 do give you more clearance to install a hitch accessory like the SportRack Ridge Swing 4 Bike Rack # SR2415 but the trouble is these extenders also reduce the hitch's tongue weight (TW) capacity by 50-percent. • Is There A Standard Size for a 2 Inch Receiver
As you've discovered, a 2 inch receiver doesn't always measure exactly two inches by two inches. There is a manufacturing tolerance involved that allows the receiver to be a few hundredths of an inches larger or smaller than 2 inches, but still be within tolerance. Due to the fact that the connection between a hitch receiver and the shank of a ball mount or hitch mounted accessory isn't meant to be a precision fit, the tolerances are generous.
