Video Transcript for Draw-Tite Hitch Fabrication Parts - Receiver Tube - 2852 Review

Today we are going to review Part No. 2852. This is the draw tight 24" combo bar with the 2" x 2" hitch receiver opening. Now this 2" x 2" receiver bar is designed for use in fabricating under car receiver hitches when its receiver is not available. It is made of a cold form structural tubing. It is sized and punched to fit all common weight distribution hitch ball mounts or utility ball mounts.

It does have the 5/8" diameter hole in it. Now the other nice thing, this is a raw unpainted finish and that will help eliminate a lot of prep work that is required when welding this piece on, and again this is a 24" combo bar, so from the edge of the collar to the edge is right at 24". So that should do it for the review on Part No. 2852, the draw tight 24" combo bar with the 2" x 2" trailer hitch receiver opening. .

Made a sweet hitch receiver for my pop up

Still working great

I needed to extend the tongue of a 1200 lb. GVW equipment trailer I pulled behind an ATV. The short tongue caused problems backing when using a jeep. The short tongue let the trailer jack knife quickly and you don’t always have room on a trail to maneuver. Extending the tongue made backing easier also the trailer won’t hit or bind with the back of the tow vehicle as quickly. The Combo Bar with 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver - 24" Long I ordered let me switch to an articulating hitch as well as extending the tongue. I welded safety chain mounts on. Painted and installed on the trailer. Before anyone thinks using three ½” grade 8 bolts to install the extension, (= to 1 ½’ of pin dia.) is wrong. There is only a 5/8” pin holding a 10,000 lb. camp trailer to the receiver of your truck.
The trailer has the 1,200 lb. Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System from etrailer I put on two years ago, also very satisfied with.

It worked great. I installed it on my camper frame for a rear bike rack and a Tie point if I needed it.

by:

You normally get a "5" star rating from me on purchases. You only got average"3" star due to slow delevery time

by:

Part worked out great !!!!

by:

Right on time as always !!

by:

Product was as expected.

But, customer
service from Jason C was above and beyond, akin to a customer concierge.

The part I originally ordered was apparently going to have a lead time, so he emailed me and told me about it. Then, he proactively sent a couple updates when their supplier got behind. When it was looking to be a bit behind schedule, he called and we switched the order to an in stock part.

A+.

It works great, thanks for checking in.

I needed to have a rear hitch fabricated for my fifth-wheel trailer. I bought this part for the fabricator to use so that he didn't have to create a receiver tube with the correct dimensions and rolled-edge end (needed for my bike rack to mount properly). It worked perfectly. Note that you'll need to prime and paint it, or spray with a self-etching paint, to keep it from rusting.

by:

Works well for our testing needs. We bought this to be able to mount a bicycle support (Yakima) to a bench for testing. It works well in our use.

by:

Had it welded to my new (used) 5th wheel trailer for attaching an bicycle carrier. Worked fine for my 3,000 mile trip to Florida and back this past February.

by:

I bought this to fabricate a receiver on the back of our travel trailer for our bicycle rack. I welded support to the sides of it and it bolted up to the TT frame. Works like a champ!

by:

Great product and speedy delivery. This item will be used to get my travel trailer and/or boat further away from the back of my pickup so I can let my tailgate down without putting any dents into it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.....

by:

just what i needed. thanks..

works good for what i got it for. thank you.

by:

The product came on time and is well built. Unfortunately I assumed it was an extension which would fit in my current 2" receiver but it is to large and will not fit into a 2" receiver. I am trying to figure out if I can use it in a different way. Maybe put a bar inside of it to allow it to connect to my current receiver.

by:

Hard to find the 2 foot hitch tubing locally. Someone wants a hitch built. Ordered Friday delivery on Tuesday. Awesome! Ordered two d rings and qualified for free shipping. Will order and refer again. Thanks

by:

Products are just fine, but what is outstanding is their customer service. I haven't been so impressed in years. We received emails and a phone call letting us know a part we had ordered was now backordered and how did we want to proceed. We received everything shortly thereafter. I will definitely go to them first for anything trailer related! Keep up the great work.

by:

Great product, fits perfectly inside 2.5" receiver and fits perfectly to 2" inserts from attachments.

by:

Needed to extend my hitch to place a platform on the rear of my RV and the hitch from eTrailer fit and works great.

by:

Parts ordered look of good quality, but time will tell about durability....after reviewing many websites. I decided to order from etrailer, because it seems to me one is getting a quality product, at wholesale prices; but what ultimately made me decide to order from etrailer, was the DYI instructional product videos. These videos is what separates etrailer, from everyone else; and I couldn't have done my installs, without them.......THANKS etrailer.

by:

Stout hitch, ready for welding with typical metal preparation. Great customer service at etrailer.

by:

Ordered twice, both times was a positive experience from ordering to delivery, wish I could give this team more stars. Highly recommend etrailer. I will be adapting this to using a vac system on a zero turn mower.

by:

Exactly as expected. Even my Drawtite 12,000# solid shank ball mounts fit.

by:

Product was as described and was received in a timely manner. Yes I would do business with etrailer again.

by:

The receiver was just what I needed and came faster than I expected. Hope my friend is able to weld it into place as easily as it was to order it!

by:

Perfect delivery fantastic product!!

  • Hitch Extender Rated for 6,000 Pounds at 24 Inches Long for a 2016 GMC Sierra
There is a 24 inch long hitch extender that is rated for 6,000 pounds or more but you would have to install a different trailer hitch on your truck. Specifically it will need to be a Tork Lift SuperHitch Original or Magnum. These hitches are available for the 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 but not the 1500. For a 2500/3500 and long bed you can use # TLC1211. For a short bed use # TLC1212. Then you will be able to use TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension # TLE1524. This extension when used...

  • Front Mount Hitch For Winnebago on Ford F-53 Chassis
I may have an option for you but there is not a custom fit front mount hitch for the 2019 Ford F-53 Chassis that the Winnebago Vista is on. Instead I recommend to use Combo Bar with 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 2852 if you can find a spot to weld it to the frame of the Winnebago. I recommend to take it to a fabricator to have it welded on, it will give you a 2" receiver on the Winnebago.

  • Extending a 2 Inch Trailer Hitch 30 Inches to Clear In-Bed Camper when Towing a Boat Trailer
For a regular extension that fits a 2 inch trailer hitch receiver the longest available is going to be 18 inches such as # C45796. In order to reach at least 30 inches you would then need to use a ball mount that measures at least 12 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole. But I do not know how much rise or drop you need to tow the trailer level. So what I did was include a link to the fixed ball mounts that would be long enough, as well as a link...

  • Solution for Adding Water Drum and Hitch Ball to Extender on Tractor 3 Point Hitch
I'm pretty sure I understand what you're wanting to do but I don't think we have exactly what you're looking for. The closest option we have will be something like the Brophy Hitch Extender # RHSE that measures 19 inches long (which represents the longest such extender we have available) along with a fixed ball mount like the Curt # D-26 that would insert into the extender for an extra 12-5/8 inches of length plus the desired hole for a hitch ball. We also have the Lets Go Aero Flat Pipe...

  • Welding a 2 Inch Receiver to a Steel Plate on a 1998 GMC C/K Series Pickup Truck
Reducer sleeve # C45405 is made of steel. The same steel used to make trailer hitches. The wall thickness is 1/4 but varies slightly from sleeve to sleeve. This reducer sleeve is not really meant for the purpose you want. I have a better option for you. You could use a hitch fabrication part such as # E-9, # E-11, # 2852, # 80818, or # E17. The ones that are raw steel would be much better for welding and they are designed for applications like you are describing.

  • Draw-Tite 2 Inch Combo Bar Wall Thickness
The Draw-Tite Combo Bar with 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver - 24" Long - Unpainted # 2852 is a 2 inch receiver that uses 1/4 inch thick steel walls. The receiver collar is 1/2 inch think for extra durability.

  • Recommended Hitch Receiver Tube For 2" and 2 1/2" Hitches
Hey Mitch, for that size receiver we only have the 18" Combo Bar with 2-1/2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # C49511 which is only 18" long. We do also have the Combo Bar with 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # 2852 which hits your length requirement, but it's only a 2" receiver, unfortunately. I'd just recommend getting in touch with a local fabrication shop and see if they can drum something up for you. It's not a super outlandish request, so I'd imagine they'd be able to help you out.

  • Availability of Hitch Extender/Reducer for Class V Hitch on 2014 Dodge 2500
The # 2852 Combo Bar you referenced is meant to be a fabrication part for somebody who's fabricating their own hitch. The outside dimension of the combo bar would actually be a bit larger than 2-1/2 by 2-1/2 inches, so it wouldn't fit in your receiver. If a 12 inch extension/reducer would work for you, use the # HR26. If you were wanting something longer than that, use the Reese Hitch Box Extension/Reducer, part # RP45292. The extension can be cut down to 24 inches, and is usually used...

  • Outside Dimensions of Draw-Tite 24-Inch-Long Combo Bar 2852
I went to our warehouse and pulled a sample of the Draw-Tite 24-Inch-Long Combo Bar # 2852 so that I could measure its outside dimension for you. The bar itself measures 2-9/16-inches on each side and the reinforced collar area at the end of the hitch tube measures 2-7/8-inches on each side. I prepared for you a photo of this part with these dimensions noted.

  • What is the Wall Thickness of the DrawTite Combo Bar # 2852
The wall thickness of the Draw-Tite combo bar # 2852 can vary slightly from one to the next but it is approximately 3/16 of an inch. I have linked a video review of this bar for you.

  • Availability of 30 Inch Long Combo Bar w/ 2 Inch Receiver
We don't offer a 30 inch combo bar, but Curt does offer one that's 36 inches long, part # C49360. You could use a chop saw or angle grinder with a cut-off wheel to cut the bar down to the desired length.

  • Longer Hitch Extension Recommendation for 2 inch Hitch
The longest hitch extender we have for a 2 inch hitch is the Brophy extender part # ST18 which will give you an extension of 18 inches. You should note that when you use an extender like this you cut the capacity of the hitch it's installed in by one third percent.

  • Recommended Motorcycle Carrier For Front Mounted Hitch On 1999 Chieftain Winnebago
For the motorcycle carrier, I recommend the etrailer Motorcycle Carrier w/ Ramp for 2" Hitch - 76" Long - Steel - 500 lbs # e98873. This carrier has a detachable ramp which makes loading and unloading your bike easy, and a stop collar lets you quickly install the carrier without having to align hitch pin holes. We don't have a confirmed fit front hitch for your Winnebago. I reached out to my contact at Curt and they don't know of any fit, so cannot make a recommendation. I suggest...
