Equal-i-zer Accessories and Parts - EQ91-00-4250

  • Equal-i-zer
  • Equal-i-zer

Perfect for use with weight-distribution systems, this high-performance lubricant helps to reduce noise and minimize wear and tear in your towing system. Apply to the hitch ball, head assembly or spring-bar sockets as needed.

Features:

  • Provides excellent lubrication for multiple towing applications
    • Apply to your hitch ball, weight-distribution head, spring-bar sockets or any other surface where friction can occur and that is designed to be lubricated
  • Reduces the noise that often occurs with steel-on-steel contact
  • Prolongs the life of your towing system
  • Resists corrosion, even in salt water
  • Works in high-temperature and extreme-pressure situations
  • Contains no heavy metals
  • Made in the USA

Note: Using lubricant on the sway-control brackets of the Equal-i-zer weight-distribution system may diminish the effectiveness of the integrated sway control. Because the Fastway e2 weight-distribution system has only two points of sway-controlling friction - within the L-brackets - using lubricant on those sway-control brackets is not recommended.

Some sort of protectant lube is essential, but I really think any appropriate lube will do. The Equalizer brand isn’t required.

by:

Yes. It works great, is easy to apply and does exactly what it’s says.

by:

Not sure why I need this but I was told to get it. It shipped out very quickly.

by:

Jury is out so far. Desperate to eliminate some of the grinding and creaking of my equal-I-zer hitch. Dabbed some of this lubricant on, but didn't have the time to be too thorough. Sounds a little better already but hope a more thorough application will reduce the grinding to tolerable levels.

Use the lubricant before every other camping trip and it works great. Thanks,

by:

Works good. Similar to other products but prevents metal to metal grinding for which I need it for when towing trailer.

by:

I was running low on my hitch lubricant so, I needed to purchase a fresh supply. This product does an exceptional job of lubricating my Equ-i-lizer hitch and keeps it performing smoothly.

by:

Works well, a cleaner neater answer to protecting the metal to metal surfaces.

by:

I have assembled and adjusted the Equalizer system for my travel-trailer to SUV. I found the directions clear and concise. The hardware appears to be excellent. I had a question about my specific setup. I called both etrailer and the manufacturer. Both organizations were very responsive and the representatives were knowledgeable and helpful.I am very satisfied with my purchase at this point.

Just fine.Nothing is lacking.

by:

I really do appreciate the quick response from etrailer.com. Have a good summer

by:

There was a problem with the shipping of the original order. etrailer took care of it - customer service is fantastic! When all items eventually arrived, they were exactly what I needed.

by:

Small quantities go a long way. Does the job and limits hitch and torsion bar “skwonk”.

by:

The primary delivery of our anti-sway system came quickly and intact but for one of the spring bars. I was not able to attend to this matter due to professional responsibilities. Calling the 800 number I was prepared for standard issue ineffectiveness replete with language and accent disorders. I was pleased to access Heather who is an American of same nature and understanding and we were able to gain a replacement spring bar that also came quickly. I thank etrailer and commend Heather on her efficiency and warm accord.

by:

Works well. Im sure there are others that do similar, but not knowing which I just bought this after my new hitch was squeeking. It works.

Also goid for your hitch ball, and to put on your leaf springs to all easier rotation of Torklift Stable loads.

by:

it works well. just make sure you have a ball cover. the lube doesn't come of cloth's. I got 2 pairs of shorts lubed up before I put the cover on the ball. etrailer.com has the covers.

by:

I was using a 2" shank with a reducer on my 2017 Ram 3500 with a 2 1/2" hitch. It had way too much play in it for me. Ordered an Equalizer 2 1/2" shank and it is much improved. Typical Equalizer quality. Tori was very friendly and knowledgeable and made ordering a pleasure. Great company!

by:

I haven’t used the product yet but the vendor (eTrailer) was excellent to work with and shipped quickly.

by:

Was looking for some lube and extra parts for the hitch and thank goodness etrailer has them.

Getting ready to hitch up again and having this around for the start of the season helps out.

by:

Great product. I bought a brand new equalizer hitch and first time out it was really noisy. When I got home all the paint was rubbed off, and within a couple weeks it was starting to show a little rust. This particular brand came highly recommended by a few different people, and some forums. After the first trip out after applying this grease it was completely silent, and really smooth. I only applied a little on the l-brackets, so it still has a little friction to reduce the sway. I would highly recommend this grease.

by:

I have not used the lubricant but I'm sure it's fine. The socket unfortunately was not thin walled & was unusable for the equal-i-zer hitch ball installation.

by:

Item as described. Assuming it is better than plain grease.
etrailer did their part getting it to me as part of a larger order. Felt sorry for the UPS guy. One box had all the components to my new 1200/12000 equalizer hitch.

by:

Big tube should last along time.

by:

Equal - i -zer Lube is the best I have found for use on the anti-sway hitch parts. I always keep a tube or two handy and make sure the friction surfaces have a liberal application before each tow.

by:

Its pretty slick.

by:

Great product. Use a lite coat on my bars & also to keep my hitch ball coated. A little goes a long way. Good size tube to carry in my RV tool bag.

by:

using product on my weight distribution system, and ball
one thing its says -Do not use on Bars going to trailer

  • Can a Lubricant be Used With an Equalizer Weight Distribution Hitch?
There is a noise reduction lubricant available, the Equal-i-zer High-Performance Lubricant # EQ91-00-4250. This is designed to reduce the noise of their weight distribution systems, though you are correct that using the lubricant on the sway control brackets will hamper that ability, at least to a point. The system will still be effective, and since you very clearly understand that proper set-up/load distribution and attention to how you drive are important factors in controlling your trailers,...

  • Troubleshooting Installation of WDS Sway Bars That are Too Tight
It sounds like there is too much tension on your bars, so I recommend adding a 6” x 6” block or some other support under the jack to make the extension and raising of the trailer faster and protect the jack from being extended to max travel. The higher you raise the trailer the easier to install or remove spring bars from L-brackets. If you're still having trouble feel free to come back and we'll be happy to help.

  • Reducing Noise With Equalizer Hitch
In order to reduce the squeaking you will need to do some lubrication; I recommend using the Equal-i-zer High-Performance Lubricant # EQ91-00-4250. You will want to apply this to your spring bar sockets, hitch ball and weight distribution head, though not the brackets. This should reduce the squeaking that is causing unwanted attention.

  • Troubleshooting Husky Centerline TS Weight Distribution Hitch Causing Tow Vehicle To Pull Right
Since your Husky Centerline TS has friction sway control, it is pretty normal for it to make noise when turning, as you are hearing the spring bars rubbing against the L-pin which is keeping the trailer from swaying. In regards to your Pathfinder pulling to the right when towing, I would start with having the front end of your vehicle thoroughly checked out as towing a trailer adds extra stress to the vehicle, and could be what is causing you to feel an issue that you do not normal feel. If...

  • Do all Weight Distribution Systems Make Noise on the Road
All weight distribution systems are going to make some noise. Especially the ones that use "friction" as a sway control device like the E2 that you mentioned. It will groan and creak around corners and over bumps. If you go with an Equal-I-Zer kit you can use a lubricant like the part # EQ91-00-4250 to reduce noise but you can't use this on an E2.

  • What Maintenance Is Required With An Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Hitch
Equal-i-zer has a small section in the owner's manual for the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution w/ 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37101ET that lists where to check for wear and places to add some lube as needed. You'll essentially just need to grease the head of the hitch where the spring bar receivers touch the head with their specific lubricant # EQ91-00-4250. I wouldn't go crazy with the lube either, just enough of a coating to prevent sticking or corrosion build up. You'll definitely want...

  • Will Applying Grease to Equal-i-zer Head Assembly Cause Less Friction
Although the head unit of an Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System, like part # EQ37100ET, does contribute to the sway control, where the arms connect to the L brackets contributes even more. The arms move back and forth and really only apply friction when needed whereas the head unit, where the arms connect, will have much more movement when you are making turns. Because of this it is best to grease the Equal-i-zer head assembly to help increase the lifespan of the weight distribution...

  • Should Equal-i-zer Spring Bars be Greased
No you are not going to want to put grease directly on the spring bars (or the brackets) of the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37100ET. That said, you can use the Equal-i-zer High-Performance Lubricant # EQ91-00-4250 in other areas of your system in order to help reduce wear and lessen the noise that may occur from the steel-on-steel friction; this lubricant can be put on the system's hitch ball as well as its spring-bar sockets and hitch head.

  • Lower Noise Weight Distribution System Recommendation for Trailer that Weighs 3,000 lb
The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use. Weight distribution systems typically...

  • Equal-I-Zer or Curt Weight Distribution System Recommendation for 2014 Infiniti QX80
All weight distribution systems are going to create quite a bit of noise unfortunately. The amount of tension in the setups and the fact there is a lot of metal to metal friction in all of them under all the tension will create quite a bit of noise. The Equal-I-Zer systems like the part # EQ37100ET you referenced are somewhat noisy but you can quiet them down with the correct lube part # EQ91-00-4250 which helps to keep the noise down quite a bit. • Recommended Lubricant for Noisy Weight Distribution System
The Husky Center Line Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # HT32218 will have some noise based on the metal on metal friction designed to control sway. If there is excessive noise, you can use the Equal-i-zer High-Performance Lubricant - 4 oz # EQ91-00-4250 which can be used on the hitch ball, the head and the bar sockets, but is not intended to be used on the bars and lift brackets because that would minimize the sway control aspect.

  • Lubricant Use on Screw Threads of the Yakima Landing Pad 8 # Y00228
I totally understand the concern! When it comes to manufacturer's guidelines, it is always recommended to go "by the book." This is because Yakima puts all of their parts like the Landing Pad 8 for Yakima SkyLine and Control Towers # Y00228 through strenuous physical testing. It is also important to note that not going by the recommendations may void any warranty on the roof rack. With that being said, you are absolutely correct that Yakima recommends using a non-water soluble lubricant...

  • Will Equal-i-zer Sway Bracket Jackets Fit a Curt Weight Distribution System

The best way to reduce noise and wear and tear is to use lubricant like the # EQ91-00-4250 Equal-i-zer High-Performance Lubricant. This is applied to the hitch ball, head assembly or spring-bar sockets as needed. I have attached a video review for your reference.

The Fastway systems, such as your Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA94-00-0800 does not actually have any type of friction coating like some other systems. The best way to disengage the weight distribution system from the tow vehicle involves removing the spring bars from the weight distribution head while the head is still attached to the vehicle's frame brackets.
