Reccomened Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System With Sway Control For 800 Pounds Of Tongue Weight
Question:
I would like to purchase a WD hitch with sway control. I prefer an Equalizer product. My TT has a GVWR of 5400 lbs. Actual fully loaded GTW is 4300 lbs with a TW of 560 lbs with no weight behind rear axle of tow vehicle. I will most likely travel with 100 to 200 lbs cargo behind rear axle of tow vehicle. I feel the Equalizer 90-00-0600 EQ37061ET is not large enough, and the Equalizer 90-00-1000 EQ37100ET may be too large resulting in a stiff uncomfortable ride as related to in a previous advise article on your site. Appreciate your expert advise. Thank you for your time.

With a total tongue weight of approximately 760 lbs including the load behind the rear axle in your tow vehicle, I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control part # EQ37100ET.
The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System is designed to be used with a tongue weight rating between 600 and 1,000 lbs. Since you have identified your tongue rating will likely vary from 600 to 800 lbs, this will be a sufficient match for your needs. I consider Equal-i-zer products to be top of the line weight distribution systems. The likelihood of experiencing a stiff and uncomfortable ride because of the potential 200-300 lbs disparity is slim.
I suggest a system capable of a higher tongue weight rating than your current capacity for two reason. 1) This will allow you to increase the capacity of your current system or switch to a larger one if need be. 2) The risk of exceeding the capacities of or weight distribution systems can cause far more damage and harm in comparison to undercompensating.
