Dimensions between mounting holes

When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows. The actuator telescopes, applying force to its master cylinder, which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.

Updating my old surge brake coupler, I really like this Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout - Bolt On - Disc - 2" Ball - Zinc - 7.5K fits 3”x4”trailer tongue, it was easy to install, I did have to drill new holes, I just wish the manufacturer would have included the bolts and the information on how much to torque the bolts to, it’s about “2 drop from my old coupler. etrailer was super fast with shipping !

by:

Have not use the Actuator yet. However it came in a oversize box. No packing material to protect it. It was damaged when I opened the box. Scratches and damage cable

I received my order two days ago, Quick shipping but it was the wrong part. I called and spoke with Noah who sent me an email asking me to take a picture of the part and add my phone number. I did right a way and still have not heard back. I emailed Noah today asking about the status no reply, now Im on a 9min hold to try and talk with someone about my replacement past. The wrong part looks like a good part if it fit my trailer.

Mark, Im sorry Noah didnt reply to you in a timely manner. We will get this taken care of and send out the correct part.

by:

The part was exactly what I needed. I gave 1 less star because the original item I requested was out of stock. Luckily I noticed that on the order status page and switched it to another item. This caused a significant delay in me receiving the part.

The product is exactly what I ordered and it was shipped quickly. Only problem is it is missing the upper cap to cover the brake fluid reservoir. • Replacement For UFP A-60/A-75 Disc Brake Actuator
There is not a rebuild kit so you would need to replace your UFP A-60/A-75 disc brake actuator, with the correct one depending on if you have a 3" x 5" or 3" x 4" straight tongue: - 3" x 5" Straight Tongue: Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator # DX56FR - 3" x 4" Straight Tongue: Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator # DX29FR

  • Is Dexter DX7.5L DX29FR Designed To Mount Inside Of 3" x 4" Trailer Tongue?
Yep! The Dexter DX7.5L # DX29FR is indeed designed to fit inside a 3" x 4" tongue as long as you have disc brakes on your trailer, though it is a bit of a different design than your old TDE LP7000. I included a video where Ryan installs it like that. If you can modify your tongue to make this work, Great! If you're not comfortable with making it work, then a coupler that bolts over your tongue like the # 099-175-20 is going to be a better option due to being a bit easier to install.

The Dexter DX7.5L A-60 # DX29FR can be used on trailer with up to two brake axles. So four total brake assemblies.

  • Does Blaylock Coupler Lock Fit on Dexter DX7.5L Brake Actuator

  • Replacement Surge Actuator for Reliable ACT 7.5K Actuator
Best solution we have would be the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout - Bolt On - Disc # DX29FR which will fit over the 3 inch by 5 inch frame channel you have. This is a very similar design to what you have now and has the same weight capacity so it would work well. This is the disc brake version so if you have drum brakes instead you'd want the part # DX27FR.

  • Replacement Disc Brake Actuator For 2" Ball & 3" x 4" Tongue
Appreciate that info, and there is an option for a disc brake actuator that will work for your 3" x 4" tongue and connects to a 2" hitch ball: - Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w/ Electric Lockout # DX29FR The # DX29FR is designed to bolt onto a 3" x 4" trailer tongue, has a 7,500 lb capacity, and has a zinc finish for corrosion resistance so it's perfect for a boat trailer.

  • What Kind Of Plug Do I Need In Order To Use The DX29FR Surge Brake Actuator
The Dexter Surge Brake Actuator # DX29FR features an electric lockout. The surge brake actuator itself does not need to be plugged in to anything for it to work. The electric lockout does need to be wired if you want to be able to back up without locking up the brakes. The blue wire goes to your vehicles reverse light circuit, the white wire is a ground. This allows you to back the trailer up without actuating the brakes. Generally trailers with a surge brake actuator and electric lockout...

  • Could Dexter A-60 Coupler Fit 2005 Four Winds Trailer
If you have a coupler actuator that looks like the # DX29FR but it mounts inside the channel on the trailer frame what you would most likely actually want is the inner member of this coupler with the part # DX99FR. This is the inner section of the Dexter actuator which it sounds like you have the outer section welded to your trailer frame.

  • Replacement Disc Brake Actuator For Titan Aero 7500 Which is Obsolete
You are going to need to replace your Titan Aero 7500 Disc Brake actuator as Dexter has discontinued the T4875700 and all the replacement parts for the Titan Aero surge actuators. I recommend upgrading to the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator # DX29FR. This actuator is designed to bolt onto a 3" wide by 4" tall trailer tongue. It includes an electric lockout to prevent the disc brakes from activating in reverse.

  • What Size and Grade Mounting Hardware for the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout
The Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout part # DX29FR for disc brakes and part # DX27FR for drum brakes use 1/2" diameter mounting hardware. We have used both grade 5 and grade 8 bolts when doing installations of them but the grade 5 are sufficient. There is very little force actually applied to the bolts other than side pull.

For a replacement option I recommend the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout - Bolt On - Disc - 2" Ball - Zinc - 7.5K # DX29FR. The swing-away actuator you are referencing was discontinued and there is no direct replacement. The # DX29FR has a 7,500 lb trailer capacity, is designed for trailers with disc brakes, and is a bolt on replacement. The two wires on the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator w Electric Lockout - Bolt On - Disc - 2" Ball - Zinc - 7.5K # DX29FR you purchased are for the reverse lockout solenoid. It does not matter which wire gets connected to what, but one wire will get grounded to the frame and the other wire gets connected to the trailer connector. I included a video of the # DX29FR for you to take a look at.

  • Options For Connecting Safety Cables When Using The Dexter DX29FR Actuator
Well Brent that is certainly a valid concern, because the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator # DX29FR does not have any kind of built in safety cable connections. In fact very few of the surge brake actuators that we carry will have cable connections. In most cases the safety cable connection will be part of the trailer tongue itself and not part of the brake actuator (example pictured below). As far as getting you a cable connection point, it could be as simple as putting a hole a bit...

Or we have the 3"x5" Hinge # FHDPB350101 with the Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator # DX56FR.
