Video Transcript for Review of Deka 3/8 Ring Terminal - DW05705-1

Michael: Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a very quick look at this Deka ring terminal. This ring terminal is going to allow you to easily connect your wires to a stud, so like on a battery or something like that where you need a nice solid connection. This does allow you to crimp the vinyl installation down onto your exposed wire. This is going to have an internal diameter right about 3/8 of an inch. So it's going to be good for your 3/8 inch diameter studs, will fit right up in there.

This is going to work for your 12 and 10 gauge wires, will fit right in there, allow you to crimp down on them and give you that nice secure connection to attach to your stud. That's going to complete our look at the Deka ring terminal. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com, thanks for watching.

I have been dealing with etrailer for about five years and have never been disappointed. Products are as described and work well, the web-site is excellent and customer service is fantastic. One instantly gets to talk with efficient well-informed people without any of the usual run-around. The instructional videos, for example mounting of trailer hitches, are extremely good, and prices are competitive.

Works as advertised.

I just purchased a Ranger Bass boat and the wiring is very old and the lights don't work. I found everything that I needed to completely replace and install new wiring and lights. This is a very good website to find and get exactly what I needed. I would highly recommend that people shop this site for all their trailer wiring needs.

  • How do I Power My 12V Wire on my 2008 E 450 Chassis
If you have already put your fuses and relay in place you will need to test the main wiring harness at the rear of your coach for power on the different wires using a circuit tester like LCD Digital Circuit Tester part # PTW2992. Do this with all lights off. Once you've confirmed any that have power pull your fuse and relay then test again if one goes cold that's the one you are looking for. If they all remain the same we can go a different route. It isn't uncommon to find that they...

  • Troubleshooting Curt Echo Wireless C51180 Having No Lights When Installed On 2020 Toyota Highlander
For the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 to work it needs the 12v power circuit of the 7-way connector to be active. Do you happen to know if the Mechanic ran a power wire from the 7-way connector to the battery of your 2020 Toyota Highlander? If he did not then the 12v power circuit will not be active as it is not part of the factory 4-way connector. You would need to use # 10-1-1 to go from the 7-way to the positive terminal of your vehicle's battery with a 30 amp...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring on 2015 Honda Pilot
It sounds like the issue is with a ground connection, a terminal connection, or one of the relays. I recommend starting with the relays and the best way to determine if one is bad is to replace it with one you know works. Once you have determined the relays are good, then I recommend checking the plug connections on your harness. Each connection should be clean of corrosion and debris and have dielectric grease like # 11755 to keep moisture and debris out. Then if you are still lacking...

  • 2-wire to 3-wire Converter for Trailer Lights
The Tow Ready Converter # 118158 will work well for your application. This converter needs to be installed downstream, so to speak, of your trailer connector. This converter box is not designed to be exposed to the elements, so you will want to mount it somewhere on the trailer where it is protected. You could also use a fuse box, like # PK52248, to protect the converter. If the ground wire from your trailer connector is already grounded to the trailer, the converter's ground wire can...

  • Trailer Brake Lights Do Not Work When Connected have a 96 ranger with seprate turn and brake
Whenever any type of adapter like # PK12716 is used to mate different types of connectors on the vehicle and trailer, connection problems can develop because of all the extra contact points. The best way to go is to install a new connector on the trailer that directly matches that on the tow vehicle so that you can avoid using an adapter. This is easily done by using a junction box like # 38656 and a new 7-way plug like # H20044. All you need to do is verify the function on each trailer...

  • Adding LED Lights Running off Battery and Switch in Enclosed Trailers
Are you looking for internal or external lights? We can help you with both. For internal lights a good option is part # ILL22CHB because of how bright it is. It's an 830 lumens light which is brighter than most for sure. It's a 2 wire install so connecting it to the switch won't be an issue. For the wire you can use part # 10-2-1 which is sold by the foot so you want to select 60 feet when ordering. then two of part # DW05705-1 fits the 10 gauge wire and should fit your battery. • How to Extend Short Ground Wire on 4-Pole Wishbone Harness
Wishbone 4-pole harnesses like # A35W42B, # A20WB, # W002230 and # A10-4225VP usually do have a short ground wire because most trailer frames are steel and they conduct well enough that a ground wire attached near the tongue will provide sufficient ground even for lights mounted all the way at the back of the trailer. On the other hand if you have an aluminum frame trailer that does NOT conduct electricity nearly as well as a steel frame then you might need to extend that 2- or 3-foot...

  • Ring Terminal Butt Connector Availability
I really wish we did, but the largest ring terminal wire gauges we carry is 10 gauge like the part # 44-5310A for a 3/16 inch ring diameter, # 44-5356A for a 5/16 ring diamter, or a part # DW05705-1 for a 3/8 inner diameter. For an excellent airtight and waterproof sealant for your wiring connections I would recommend the Deka Self-Fusing Auto Tape # DW04367.

  • Installing a Brake Controller Onto a 2015 Jeep Cherokee Without Factory Tow Package
I can help you install a brake controller like the Tekonsha P3 on your 2015 Jeep Cherokee. For Brake Controller recommendations, I really like the # 90195. This brake controller is a proportional controller, which means whatever pressure you press the tow vehicle's brakes it will apply the same pressure and intensity to the trailer's brakes. It also has a customizable full display screen which provides you with full error messages instead of codes that need to be deciphered. First thing...

If your intent is to have 24 volts of output, you can wire 4-12 volt batteries together. In order to connect your 4-12 volt batteries to get 24 volts of output you need some wiring and ring terminals like parts # 10-1-1 and # DW05705-1. If you currently have a 6-way connector on your trailer, the 7-wire # DW04914-1 will be too large for your connector. In that case, you will want to use the 6-wire # DW04906-1. If your vehicle has a 7-way connector and you've been using an adapter, this is a great time to add a 7-way connector to your trailer to avoid needing the adapter. A 7-way connector is the more commonly found connector. You can use the 7-wire # DW04914-1 with a 7-way connector # PK12706, or a pre-wired connector...

  • Installation of a Reverse lockout Circuit or Brake Controller on a 2000 GMC Sierra
I believe we can help. We will need to determine whether you have a trailer with surge brakes or with electric brakes. Surge brakes on trailers are not electrically activated, they are activated by the pressure created between the vehicle and trailer when the vehicle slows. Many times surge brake couplers have an electric lockout, so the trailer can be backed without applying the brakes. This electrical connection is spliced into the vehicles backup light circuit so the lockout is activated...

It sounds like your Big Tex trailer did not come with brakes. Based on this, to convert your trailer with no brakes, to adding electric brakes, on your Big Tex 35SA trailer, the first thing you need is a left and right brake kit. You could use the Dexter 23-26-27 kit (includes left and right) which matches your Dexter axle 4” X 4” brake flange. This will transfer power in either direction to maintain the charge on both batteries. Then to add 12V outlets to the bed you can use the Roadmaster # RM-9332 and run the wiring up to the Silverado's battery using 12 gauge wire # 12-1-1 (sold by the foot), butt connectors # 05732-2, a 12 gauge fuse...

Considering how you'll likely be using this, if you don't already have an auxilliary battery on your trailer, you'll need to add one.
