Using Battery Charger Included With HM39530 Brake Buddy When Negative Battery Cable is Disconnected

Question:

I have a 2014 Ford focus that I will be using this brake buddy system that I recently purchased thru Etrailer. to hook up the battery charger requires attaching the ground to the vehicle . currently I have a ground disconnect for the battery for flat towing per Ford directions. by hooking up this ground does this provide another path for the system to be energized thus defeating the disconnect switch for main power to the vehicle?

We've got a solution for you. You'll want to use a Deka Quick Disconnect Battery Terminal, part # DW05312. On the terminal end that remains on the battery once disconnected, you'll attach the ground wire for the charger using a # DW05705-1 ring terminal. This leaves the charger grounded once the negative battery terminal is disconnected. I've provided a photo showing where to place the ring terminal.
