  • Interior Lights on Trailer with No Battery Won't Work with Ford Truck
The issue you're experiencing is caused by the Ford Smart Tow System which controls the battery charge line circuit which is the twelve volts power supply from the vehicle battery to the trailer. It's usually feed to an on-board battery in the trailer but in your case they are likely just powered directly from the power supply. To the best of my knowledge, the battery charge line circuit only becomes active while the truck is in motion so there is really no other way to get around this...

  • Ford Super Duty Trailer Connector Wont Power On In-Bed Fuel Transfer Pump
I do have an option for you but it's probably not what you'd had hoped for. The issue you'll run into trying to use the trailer connector as a power source for your transfer tank pump is that the battery charge line circuit within the trailer connector that you want to use for power is only active while moving on most newer Ford trucks. This is by design and has been coined the "Ford Smart Tow". Therefore, you won't be able to utilize this with the transfer pump in the way you want. If...

  • No Power to Interior Cargo Lights on Trailer with 2020 Ford F-250
The Ford Smart Tow System on the 2020 Ford F-250 won't send power to the battery charge line circuit until the vehicle is in motion and gear shifting. I am not aware of any way to change the setting for this. Therefore, your only options to use the interior lights in the trailer would be to either install an on-board battery or direct wire a battery charge line circuit from the truck battery to the trailer connector using part # DW02508-1 and part # 9510.

  • Lippert Power Tongue Jack Won't Work Plugged Into 2020 Ford Ford F-350
I do have an option for you but there's no way you can switch pins inside the trailer connector for this to work. The battery charge line circuit or twelve volt power within the trailer connector on the vehicle side is only active while moving on most newer Ford trucks. This is by design and has been coined "Ford Smart Tow". It's done to conserve power of the vehicles battery so it's not just charging the trailer battery at all times even when not needed. I understand this frustrates a...

  • No Power to Trailer Interior Light with 2019 Ford F-250
The Ford Smart Tow System on the 2019 Ford F-250 won't send power to the battery charge line circuit until the vehicle is in motion and gear shifting. The battery charge line circuit is what is powering the interior lights on the trailer. Therefore, you won't be able to use the lights without installing an on-board battery on the trailer or bypassing it. There isn't anything wrong with the truck, that's just how the system is designed. I am not aware of any way to change the setting for...

This is by design and has been coined the "Ford Smart Tow". It's done to conserve power of the vehicles battery so it's not just charging the trailer battery at all times even when not needed. • No Power To Interior Lights on Horse Trailer
The interior lights on most trailers is either powered from an on-board auxiliary battery on the trailer or using the battery charge line circuit run through the trailer connector. I can't be certain as to which you have but if there isn't an on-board battery then it's safe to say the lights are powered from the battery charge line circuit. In regards to troubleshooting, if you do have an on-board battery then check its state of charge and the wires running from the lights to the battery....

The wiring on your 2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty is a little goofy and it's something that a LOT of people have complained about with the newer Ford pickups. To get power back to your trailer jack you'll have to close your driver's door, depress the brake, start your truck, hold your brake while the truck recognizes the trailer, then click "OK" to get through the notifications that pop up. If you were to route 12V wiring from your battery to he Upfitter Switch then back to the 12V pin on your...

  • No 12V Power to 7-way connector on 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty
I am happy to help you troubleshoot the 12v pin not getting power on the 7-way connector. On some Fords with factory brake controllers, the 12V pin does not show power unless you are testing it with a trailer connected. Please make sure it is a trailer with an on board trailer battery. The truck must sense the load of the battery to activate that circuit. If you have a trailer connected and the 12V pin is still not showing power, you may have a blown or missing fuse in the power distribution...

  • What Gauge Wiring do You Recommend for the Progressive Dynamics # PD9160ALV?
I went ahead and reached out to my tech at Progressive Dynamics, and he confirmed that a 4-gauge works best on most applications with the Intelli-Power Converter # PD9160ALV. However, if you have a longer route (such as 25-30 feet), 10 gauge wire like the # DW02508-1 works best. We unfortunately do not carry any 4-gauge wiring solution.

  • Continuous Voltage on Trailer Brake Output Circuit
The problem you described sounds like a short between the 12-volt power wire on the 7-way (usually black) and the brake controller output wire that runs for the 7-way to the brake controller (usually blue). In order to solve this issue, you are going to need to trace each wire back to its origin while checking for breaks or frays in the wire(s). You can use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to give you a better idea where the short occurs. If you cannot locate the short, then you may...

  • Required Power Wire Size for Hydrastar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes HBA16
In regards to the Hydrastar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes part # HBA16, the manual states 12 gauge is required for the power leads so anything larger than this will work great as well. We offer 12 gauge by the foot as part # 12-1-1 as well as 10 gauge as part # DW02508-1. For a circuit breaker, I recommend the 40 Amp In-Line Circuit Breaker part # 9510.

  • No Light On Curt Echo When Plugged In
If there is no light on the unit when the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 is plugged in that means you don't have power on the battery charge line circuit. This could be caused by a short or blown fuse so you will want to check those things but it could also not be hooked up. In which case or if you could not find any shorts or fuses blown then you could just run a new power wire using part # DW02508-1 and then add a circuit breaker part # PK54540.

  • How to Wire Curt Converter to Filter Out Turn Signal on Center Light
You can splice in the converter wherever you want. If it is at the front you will just have to run extra wire back to the rear for that center light. You can use # DW02508-1 if you want to keep it consistent with red. You don't want to filter out the stop for your regular tail lights so the wires running to them now need to stay the way they are. The yellow butt connectors on the Hopkins Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole # 37185 are for 12-10 gauge wires. You'll want to use 10 gauge wire # 10-1-1 for the brake controller (blue wire) and you can use # DW02508-1 for the 12v power so that you don't mix the colors up. • Wiring Required To Use a Curt Echo With A 2020 Honda Odyssey That Has Factory 4-Way Flat Connector
For The Curt Echo # C51180 to function it must have power from the charge line of the 7-way and signal from the brake lights. The Curt Trailer Connector Adapter # C57672 sounds similar to the connector that you added to your 2020 Honda Odyssey. The 4-way takes care of the light signals that the Echo needs to see. This will ensure that you have enough power for the charge line circuit and Curt Echo # C51180. I recommend using 10 Gauge Wire # DW02508-1 as this will better protect the wire from over heating. That said, the Ford F-53 Chassis that this motorhome is on is not pre-wired for a brake controller as this was not introduced until much later.
