Converting 4-Flat to 7-Way on 2005 Toyota Sienna to Use Prodigy RF Trailer Mounted Brake Controller

Question:

Is this the correct product to use when I just want to convert the flat 4 trailer connector I have on my 2005 Toyota Sienna to a round 7 for use with the Prodigy RF? All of the instructions are related to using an installed brake connector.

If you elect to go with the Tekonsha Prodigy RF Brake Controller, item # TK27FR, on your trailer, instead of installing a brake controller in the cab of your 2005 Toyota Sienna, you will not need all of the items and wiring in the Electronic Brake Controller Wiring Kit, # ETBC7.

For the Prodigy RF to function properly all that is needed is the constant 12 volt power supply from the vehicle battery. You would need the following items:

# 37185 7-Way and 4-Way adapter, plugs into your existing 4-Flat connector
# 10-1-1, 10 Gauge Wire, Sold by the Foot
# PK54540, 40 Amp Circuit Breaker, 1 Each
# DW05705-1, Ring Terminal, 3 Each

Connect an appropriate length of the 10 gauge wire, # 10-1-1, to the black wire on the # 37185 connector and run it forward to the engine compartment. Then, connect the end of the 10 gauge wire to the AUX side of the 40 amp, # PK54540, circuit breaker. Finally, connect the BATT side of the circuit breaker to the positive battery terminal on the vehicle battery. Make sure to connect the white ground wire from the 37185 connector to the vehicle frame and the installation is complete. Since you will not need the Blue and purple wire from the adapter you can tape or cable tie them up out of the way for future use.

Instructions to complete installation of the Prodigy RF on your trailer are linked for you to review.
